Fariko Wishless I’m actually not sure if it started as an acronym, (there are people who would argue that chav comes from Romani words: chavi/chavo - male child, shavo - female child, chavvy - friend), but I think the acronym is generally pretty accepted. I’ve even seen people say it’s actually Council Housing Associated Vermin. Either way, it’s not a good word to call someone lol.

That raises an interesting Misfits/Game of Thrones trivia point, it was during the making of this very season (Misfits, S1) that Iwan Rheon was in the running to be cast as Jon Snow--very, very close to being cast, actually. (In fact, that detail and followed by him not being cast by the time S2 is underway had a big effect on how the Misfits storyline develops....)

the "power" they get is like an expansion of their emotions/ personality. kelly is insecure so she can read minds, simon is a loner so he is invisible and so forth. that's what makes this show interesting, to see new powers from different people
