That's actually a pretty interesting video. It's more or less how I'm thinking my first lap will be. I was kinda thoughtful at first about it though because I was always hearing that driving slow in the Ring can cause accidents etc but I think you made it pretty clear that if your purpose is simply to enjoy a nice relaxed drive, staying on the right side will be safe and ideal for everyone.

Went to the Nurburgring last weekend and it was amazing. The experiance isnt only on the track, the whole area is great to explore. Great back roads, great food, the Nurburg was great, had an Apex taxi with the GT2(most violent fun you can have), also had the RSR experience with the new Civic type R, even took my own 318is shitbox for 6 laps. Any car guy should visit the ring for a few days. I even saw you Misha at the Apex quarters. Best regards from Ireland.

Misha, great advice, as always. May I add one thing: the importance of really using the rear view mirror(s). In most countries, except on German highways, mirrors are often neglected because the speed differential of all cars is almost zero. Therefore, most drivers are just not used to really using them, nor have they ever experienced a car seemingly “far away” being on your rear just a few seconds later, with a speed differential(!) of 100mph/160km/h. They’re going 60mph and think they’re fairly fast, but the guy behind them is at 160mph, on edge, and his well-being in this split-second situation depends on the guy in front now to not screw this up! That would be my #1 advice on a German highway, and also for the Ring.
@MichaelBlek2 жыл бұрын
I Used to drive in a city full of crazy people and that made me check mirrors frequently. This saved me many times from stupid crashes. Great advice!

Enjoyed the tour with track names. The last time I drove the track was in 1965 in a VW Squareback. On that day both the Nordschleife and Sudschleife were open. There were no barriers at that time only the hedges and trees. BTW, there is also a section of road in the Mountains nortthwest of Frakfurt called the Schwalben Schwanze.

The German idea of slow driving never ceases to amaze me, lol. The relaxed drive for me would be 90 - 100 kph. Yes, I am a Bmw driver who hates driving on busy roads ... or driving. Period. But even driving like I normally do on the Nordschleife would be a great experience . Love that you filmed this on a normal car, not a muscle car. And that kubica video. 👏👏

This was really interesting. I have always wanted to drive the Ring myself, but scared that I would most likely crash and die within the first 20 meters after the entry gate. I drive a behemoth of a Tesla Model X, so looking at the speedometer in this video tells me that I will most likely be safe going max 80-100 km/h and staying on the right side of the road. And that this most likely won't create problems for other drivers.

The only concern for me, is if you push the car to 200, 250+ KM/hour on straight road, how do I know when I need to break to approach the bend/what speed to enter the bend at? Only people who hit this track consistently will know right?! At the same time, I’m worried about going too slow around the bend, and getting approached by cars who can approach the bend at double/triple my speed!

I would love to join the nuerburgring with my 131ps dacia dokker. For the first time I would like to have an experienced driver driving with my car and show me how to. My biggest fear is the speed, what's possible, corners where I can't see behind the corner and the grip level. Saw many videos people loosing their car because they don't know the track and the conditions. If I have to stay only on the right there is not much space for mistakes if the car pushes to the outside.

Always wanted to be on this track, and even looking at the prices to go on it being only about 160$ is pretty amazing. Every track near me (that isn't an oval) is nowhere near as large, and has prices of up to 350$ just for one lap (250 of which is just *signing up, not even using the track*). The only high expense for the Nurburgring would simply be flying there with a car.
