Prejudice goes both ways. But sexism and racism do not because (as the ism implies) it is dependent on a system of power held by one side over the 'other'. I've always interpreted pickmes as women/girls who do or endorse doing things that are ultimately detrimental to women in order to appeal to men. For example women that say you shouldn't be opinionated or "bold" because it deters men, or discouraging women from academic/career success because men dont want women that earn more money than them. Or (extreme but common example) enforcing rules on women's sexual autonomy ie "who wants to buy the cow if they get the milk for free" which is both misogynistic and objectifying.

7:26 the stigma that men shouldn't share their feelings or emotions (crying, sadness, anger, etc.) around their girlfriends is so fucking gross. like who started that?? the reason that relationships fall apart and break is bc communication about one's feelings is not expressed. not only that but it's so unhealthy to just withhold your feelings from someone just because they aren't the same gender as you. the logic makes no sense there. and also WHY NOT?? why is expressing emotions for men something that ppl criticize? like the guy from the podcast? does he not realize that he is making the situation worse by enforcing the idea that men aren't allowed to be expressive and that women are bound to make fun of men for that? i swear, the majority of us aren't psychopaths who are going to laugh and put our boyfriends down for just being honest about how they feel. in conclusion, this is soooo harmful for this weird podcast guy to be saying.
@Alex-is-really-complicated2 жыл бұрын
Men started that then proceed to say women have it easy when this patriarchy system was started by none other than *drum roll* men 🎉
@artespeck8091 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention, repressed emotions lead to lashing out (due to your body and mind’s frustration of not dealing with the emotions) and in extreme cases sui. MRAs are always complaining abt men sui rates compared to women, which is reasonable and understandable bc men are just as humans. The bad part of this tho is IN THE SAME BREATH THEY SAY “DONT SHOW EMOTION. BE RATIONAL” AS IF STUDIES DONT SHOW EMOTIONAL REPRESSION LEADS TO SUI SO ITS MORE RATIONAL TO EXPRESS YOURSELF THAN TO REPRESS EVERYTHING. I also agree communication is important in a relationship (not just romantic, but ALL relationships. Be it professional, casual, romantic, friendly, etc.) so i do my best to encourage my boyfriend to express himself. If i see hes struggling i take him in and ask him to communicate whats in his head at the moment. We gotta be patient w men when teaching them to communicate tho bc unlearning toxicity is incredibly difficult and is a long road full of setbacks and obstacles.

6:50 I don’t think this is a very good argument, it’s kinda the same as saying “black people cant be racist” the more accurate reason is it’s a man talking bad about women when they aren’t a woman, compared to a man talking about men which they do have experience of. There most definitely is misandry out there, it’s not all that uncommon, it’s just not as toxic when a man is a misandrist vs a woman being a misandrist, just like it’s not a toxic for a woman to be a misogynist compared to a man being misogynistic.
@thebuilder52712 жыл бұрын
I think it’s like you can’t be sexist to men or racist to white people by the systemic oppression definition,, but you can on the individual level where it just means judging someone based on those factors. TERFs are definitely misandrist (and transphobic obviously).

Ok I am so so so mad about that “women get more attention” part, I literally had to pause and calm myself down. YES, WOMEN DO GET MORE ATTENTION THAN MEN, BUT THAT IS NOT POSITIVE, THAT IS NOT SOMETHING TO SHAME WOMEN FOR. That is not a king shooting their shot, that is men harassing and assaulting women who are just trying to fucking exist. That is men who try to take advantage of women when they are drunk or in a vulnerable position. Almost all women do not want this. They ‘reject’ this because it is assault and harassment. It is scary. It makes you worry about being sexually assaulted which DOES HAPPEN in too many cases. I cannot fucking believe those words came out of their mouths especially from a woman herself, who has even admitted this has happened to her. I genuinely feel bad for her. Some shit had to happen for her to even say something like that, even agree to be in that podcast. I’m sorry for this rant, but this just really made me mad and I needed to say something I’m sorry lol.

I am not saying you should blindly agree what she was saying but when your main point against her is that her face is shiny, the whole meaning of the video gets kinda overshadowed. Like you didn’t make fun of those crusty dusty men’s appearances in the podcast, only the girl’s, when this video is literally about misogyny against women. Women are so often only seen for their looks and how they present themselves and it’s a bit disappointing to see you kinda do the same to the woman in the video, you didn’t talk about what she said, only that her face is shiny and that the guy probably wants her like…. I am sure you didn’t mean to do this but it’s maybe something to think about.
