My brother died and soon after John Lennon. This song made me think of my brother (who loved John Lennon) together in heaven. " Daniel my brother" was another song after waving goodbye to my brother at the airport he died soon after in a canal. Both songs cut to the core . Its the first time today after so long I've heard them both and I can't stop crying.😢 Love Elton John for his music.

The people of New York didn't kill John Lennon, Mark David Chapman, a fucking psychopath, killed him. The people of New York allowed John Lennon to be who he wanted to be. That is why he lived there! Cities don't kill people, nutbags do. The most brilliant tribute to John Lennnon ever! Thank you! xo
@nogoodbastid9 жыл бұрын
Also Mark David Chapman wasn't even a New Yorker. He was raised in Georgia and lived in Hawaii at the time. He flew to NY specifically to kill John Lennon. If John lived in London or Los Angeles Chapman would've just flown there instead. The city was irrelevant and played no part in John's death.

Thank you Elton for honoring a musician/poet who touched absolutely everyone who ever heard him, nobody was immune to his charm; strength, wit,brilliance, music, and finally his politics of peace and love..John is my hero, my favorite singer of all time and the voice of my youth, soundtrack of my life and my generations warrior poet..LOVE YOU LENNON, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN...thank you for the love you gave me and bless the universe for you living at the same time as me, I am a better man because of you, and your still my hero...peace brotherman.. in my life I could not love you more...

Lennon may have professed peace and love, but he physically beat women and abused his children, he was a disgraceful human being. All who knew Lennon, knew he was a reprobate and an evil person.

@kfbaxter364 So why are you here? If you think so little of John, why would you come to a page where Elton John wrote an incredible tribute of love to him. Is that what trolling is ?, as I've never cared what trolling means. You cannot change my opinions of John Lennon just as I can't change yours. Just curious why you're on this site if you have such disdain for Lennon. I have new grievance with you I just don't get it. But then I don't have to. I guess I was wondering why you're not on a site commenting about somebody you really respect and admire? Peace

My mum was a gardener, she could turn a plant that was dying into a fruitful forest. She was killed in a car crash, and we lost her way too soon at 59 years old. She voluntarily did the community gardens, and the flowers from her garden were used in many a wedding and appreciated by many as they drove past. She was so loved that at her funeral the church and hall next door over flowed with people, and some stood outside just to show their love for her. She was my best friend, a wonderful mother and the best grandmother. She was my dads highschool sweetheart and he still loves her as much as the day he met her. We played this song at her funeral with a video/photo snapshots of her life from a child to adult life and it was a perfect compliment. In the small rural town where she lived, the council has placed a park bench at the local children's park in her memory with a plaque. Thankyou Elton, even though you wrote this song for your friend, you also wrote it for my Mum 💜

I'm a thirteen year old guy, and I've been an Elton fan for 5 years. I never lived in a time with the amazing John Lennon, but this song has a more personal meaning & I think it's a great tribute to an even greater man. I saw this a few months ago & liked it, but in light of recent events, I'm now crying because it's such a a beautiful sentiment. When he went "oh" is when I really broke down. Elton has gotten my family through some hard times & I can't thank him enough & for all the KZbinrs who have posted him. So many great lyrics by Bernie Taupin, & melodies by Elton. Cheers Edit: I'm now 23, I've seen him twice, and it all still holds true

Without a shout of a doubt.... Elton John is an incredible, amazing, and outstanding piano player and singer. I used to take piano lessons throughout my childhood and then I stopped taking piano lessons and stopped playing for a while because it became a chore and a bore for me. I have to admit....it because of Elton John and Bernie Taupin's awesome songs, that I started playing the piano again and still play piano to this day.

I cannot believe that is has been 33 years since John was taken from us. Brought up as a Beatles babe, I know all the words from a ridiculously long back catalogue. This song hits a raw note but is in itself an amazing piece of art,. I know Elton was a good friend of John`s and that raw and sad edginess comes out in this gripping piece of music. And those of us who have been brought up loving John, know exactly where these lyrics are coming from. I cannot listen to this without shedding several tears.

I've had the privilege of seeing Sir Elton play in concert four times, and "Empty Garden" was never incl on his set list for the show. Elton rarely performs it live BECAUSE it means sooo much to him- He and John Lennon were close friends amd countrymen who vacationed together. Heck, John and Yoko even appointed Elton the high honor of being Godfather to their baby boy, Sean. This particular version is myyy very favorite rendition of this achingly beautuful tribute song. Rest in peace & glory, in your Heavenly Garden.
