@@amandacharlebois9295 have you forgotten that this person could have had an accident, fallen down a slope, had a trail crumble beneath him? Just because you are on a trail doesn't mean it is always safe. He could also have become suddenly ill as well. Disorientation is part of illness and injury,as well as hypothermia. Those are all factors for missing persons, especially when the temperature drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mushrooming entails a lot of looking down. Getting lost is a hazard of foraging alone, even for seasoned hunters / outdoors types.

This hits home, our oldest son's name is "Shane", he is also an outdoor enthusiast, we have family in the area near to where Mr.Springer is missing as well.. We pray they find him safe and sound. It sounds like he was close to the highway when he called for a ride, otherwise why would he call? From what it sounds like he didn't go for an extensive hike, we hope he went prepared for Winter weather though, that can be a deal breaker when experiencing being lost, even for a short time. We are hoping for a positive outcome, the area is rugged with trees growing closely together. Thanks for warning inexperienced people not to join in the actual search for the missing person, sometimes they will criss cross the trail of the missing person and leave confusing tracks or clues.

Oregonian here. Sharing!! Also, it’s been brutally cold and wet this last week. It’s been windy and stormy as hell. Once you get wet you get hypothermia so quick. If he got wet he’s not going to have much of a chance of survival sadly. The actual temperatures aren’t that cold but the humidity is high as well as super rainy. High humidity, cold temps and rain mean death super super quick in the woods. I hope he was able to find shelter somewhere.

Poem titled, "His Memory Began." (Rev.) His memory began the day I heard, For my mission began where he left off, No way to know which way to look, Little remained on trail or tree. For he loved to trek & dream his time away. From the colored fields & standing pines. From the misty mountains that keep the air. This is what can live or die, It whispers in the air. But I'm here now to coax a way, From some wandering soul, put to test, From the dusty tract that keeps & claims, Some message, here & there, in the mountain air. I go on to view these things, Till strength all drained & slowing feet, Closer to some edge of unknown void, To feel my blood & some danger too, Nearer to his test & waiting time, Seen in a far horizon with moaning air, Here he'd vanished, where I'd dare not go. He'd gone missing in the mountain air.

Why would he leave his truck when he had a ride on the way ? And why would the second Shane also leave his car crash, when again, help was on the way ? Reminds me of Maura Murray case. I have never heard either of these 😢... i am in eugene have been for about 28 years and i can attest that the woods are scary at night! While camping a few years ago i was with my dad and son and i woke up after a nkght of camping to find cigarettes 2 feet outside our camper. No one smokes in my family and we were the only ones in a campground other than the camp host.....

Yea, but he knew that his brother snd friends were on the way, because he called them. He must have been forced to get into a car. Hope they're checking his ATM card.

I live very close to where this happened and there's really nowhere to go but either in the Mississippi river on one side or business / warehouses on the other , very peculiar...

I pray both of these men are found safe. For the man who was in the car wreck. I wonder if he could be in a hospital somewhere as a John Doe bc he doesn’t remember who he is? Its possible he was completely coherent right after the wreck, and then if he did hit his head in the wreck and left the scene and possibly lost consciousness or even just went somewhere and fell asleep, it’s very possible he wouldn’t know who or where he was once he woke up as a result of the head injury. I pray for both these men and their families.
