Good morning, Dr. Grande! That pink shirt suits your coloring. Drugs, alcohol and partying never ends well. Combined with pre-existing mental problems, it was a recipe for disaster. His disappearance was probably the result of confusion after a long night of partying, got his car stuck in the mountains, hiked away from the vehicle, got lost, got injured and died. As for his father's behavior after the fact suggests that the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Thanks for sharing.

I can actually give some insight to this story, not because i knew Matthew or anyone related to him, but because i live and have lived in this part of California most of my life. Its sad to say, but the fate of Matthew is most certainly either him committing suicide or dying from exposure; personally, i believe its the latter. I am also around Matthews age, not to mention having also had a history of drug abuse and depression. The area that became a dirt road is not unfamiliar to me, i had a friends that loved to get high and go down that unpaved road due to the scenery; was pretty fun ill admit (as long as i didnt have to drive... yea fuck driving on that road without 4 wheel drive). My guess is that Matt was in an extremely depressed state for whatver reason, so much so that he numbed out his rational and problem solving part of his brain and just kept saying "fuck it" over and over. He probably knew the road would eventually lead to an exit that he could take to easily get back home, but for whatever reason he went at night "BIG" mistake, its hard enough to navigate with light, but w/o it its a death wish. Feeling like he was spiralling out of control, I could see him gravitate toward the idea of dying on that mountainside or hill and end up fading from existence like in Gone With the Wild. So I am not 100% certain but id say im like 99.999% sure he wanted to go on a random/thrilling adventure where he could lose himself.

I agree. Topanga Canyon is still pretty remote and not likely to be a hang out for gangs. Are you familiar with Chatsworth Park? If so, are the trails up through the rocks still accessible? My friends and I hung around up there in the late 60s-early 70s. Last time I was by there (on my way to Simi) was 2009 and access to the rocks was closed off.
@ETtheOG
@ETtheOG Жыл бұрын
@grumpyoldlady_rants can't say I would know since I haven't visited since like 2016, although I do have family that live in Topanga Canyon. And Chatsworth rings a bell but since I never did the driving its hard for me to remeber tbh, my friend TK would probably know though. And theres no gang activity because it's a canyon-like environment, as in cliffs, creeks, uneven ground, lots of boulders, and lots of wildlife, which isn't exactly ideal for gangs that rely on pushing drugs and guns for funds. Although there are plenty of Neil Young loving hippies living off the land there, which the could be violent I suppose but not typically. The 60s and 70s were probably the eras that's area was the most active, from what I hear, I wouldn't know cause I wasnt even born then.
@grumpyoldlady_rants
@grumpyoldlady_rants Жыл бұрын
@@ETtheOG - Chatsworth Park is on Topanga Canyon Blvd but to the north of, say, Ventura Blvd. My dad moved us away in 1970 and I know the valley ha changed drastically in the intervening years. My favorite drive when I lived there was Topanga Canyon. I liked to stop at the health food store there. I used to hitchhike all over that area - not knowing that Manson and his “family” lived out that way. I would have been easy prey if they had picked me up. I was a unhappy, rebellious teen with a bad home life.
@ETtheOG
@ETtheOG Жыл бұрын
@@grumpyoldlady_rants My 2nd Cousin had a house right off Topanga Canyon rd, right in the thick of the super hilly area, and I will always remember how steep the hill to get to his house was! And I actually know where that north entrance is but funny enough my family would always take the south entrance, from PCH where Malibu is. And I actually think his house wasn't too far from where the Manson house was, in fact I know Neil Young had a house really close to that house too (a bunch of musicians conglomerated to that particular area), and I think I heard that spot was one of the Manson cults spots where they would party it up. I am sure there are plenty of hippies still in that area, you def still see some of the homeless hippies trecking that area with their backpacks. When you were there, I am sure there were plenty of drugs in the area, in fact, I bet that's why some people moved there. My friend even told me that some of the dudes in that area only knew about heroin and LSD and didn't even know what weed is. Either way, Topanga Canyon is a weird part of LA county, its a beautiful area but has some really strange history, and isn't all that easy to live there if the weather gets bad.

There are lots up there that are somewhat affordable with ocean views way the heck up there just like that picture shows and he was driving really too fast and I asked him to slow down, and then I felt like I was kind of a wimp, but then the next day I watched the news and another such vehicle had fallen off And they didn’t find it for a while and the people in it were dead. It took them a while to find it at that time. Another accident in another valley around here going up the two north of Lacanada into the desert. Some kids drove off the road in a car. They could not find them at all. A guy found them with a drone.

OMG my GPS brought me up there possibly to that overlook it’s really high it’s like at the highest point in the Santa Monica mountains like what the hell. And then I drove back down the mountain about 15 miles an hour and I don’t care if I was annoying the people behind me because I can’t handle it. It’s a narrow two la e road going down with steep cliffs right next to the road I know the area well that’s where the Kardashians live Calabasas, by the way. Thank you for an interesting video

What happened Dr Grande? Your videos just disappeared for a few days. You were missed! Your voice and your stories have become part of my bed time routine.

Dr Grande I have to admit I was so disappointed when you did not list Meghan Markle as one of the possible 'bad actors' 😂

The car getting stuck could have been the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. In a good state of being that would try a person's soul but for a sadly depressed person it can be enough to cause them to end their troubles by ending their life. Poor sad and alone young man, I hope he's at peace.
