Obviously this movie is great like all of the MI movies have been for so many years. But the part I like best is how they wrote strong, female characters like Grace that come off as likable. All of them are capable in their own right and the filmmakers didn’t make them strong by weakening the men or making them look incapable. Now compare that to the latest Indiana Jones film with Helena played (and most likely written by) PWB. Night and day. MI does is right. Lucasfilm does it wrong…yet again.

MI:7 is everything an action movie should be, high-stakes, high-octane, fast-paced, and kick-ass. This series gets better with every installment. Tom Cruise is trying to save the film industry, and it shows. Many shows and films in recent years have tended to deconstruct (i.e., ruin) the established protagonist, but we see Ethan Hunt at his best. Great cast and writing too. It's almost three hours long but it did *not* feel like it. Crowd-pleasing & entertaining. They know what the audience wants, and the hot streak continues. Part two should kick ass as well

This is my favorite review so far of MI7. This breakdown properly explains just how epic this movie is, and just how rare and special Tom Cruise and McQ really are as an actor and director combo. They did everything the hardest way possible, actually building a real train, using real steel, and welding it together, only to destroy it later. They didn't make a cardboard green screen train, they made a fully functional train. The budget of $290,000,000 was not reflected in computer systems, like the 100 computers used to reverse age Harrison Ford in Indian Jones (although that's a really amazing feat). In one statement: They deserve our money. I will absolutely pay for a ticket to this movie.

Not only is Tom Cruise a great action star, but also Christopher McQuarrie is a fantastic director/writer. Oh and get this: McQuarrie liked working so much with Henry Cavill on the last M-I movie, that he went to WB/DC and pitched them a MoS sequel, complete with a script treatment and everything. And these imbeciles rejected it!! Imaging, having the guy who wrote/ directed the mega-successful M-I movies, pitching you a Superman movie and you say: "Nah... we´re god..."

@@melvinch while technically I was thinking more about having Reeves get a role as the villain in a future MI film, I did have a small pitch about bringing in Cruise to the JW series for two films The first is a prequel to the original JW film, and Curise plays the role of the main target that John needs to eliminate during the “impossible mission” he was sent on to earn his freedom. This way Cruise isn’t downplayed in the role and we can get to see someone potentially on par with John in terms of skill. However, the end credits will show a hole where Cruise’s character was buried under a building came down on him. This would then lead into the 5(or 6th depending on how soon the next one comes out) film having Cruise’s character make himself known, which would mean that the original deal John made becomes null and void since he never completed the mission. But after seeing MI:DRpt1, I'm beginning to wonder if Paramount begged Cruise to throw in some new blood to tantalize the thought of a continuing franchise? Reflecting back on it, it was the cast and the way it ended, as well as the lack of unnecessary CGI, that made one of the all time greats. They had to completely invent new methods of filming, and it took many tests and trial flights to figure it out. Such great stunts, real tension, high stakes and all really well directed. I don't want to be James Bond who is - now - not a hero at all but a broken cautionary tale, Ethan Hunt is a real hero someone you really aspire to be.

I have to say a big thank you. Your one of few people online who aren't scared and come through with the truth of hollywood keep pushing trash agendas and showing how MI7 hasn't fallen down into the same trend. I love Graces character for all the right reasons you said. She's a highly intelligent character but she has limits, she had fears and can't do everything Ethan can. It's why I absolutely hate Captain Marvel (although I loved when Thanos slapped her away)

10:40 now that you mention it, the entire movie, especially the dialogue scenes, is a throwback to the first MI film in 1996. It is quite dialogue heavy and sometimes a bit hard to follow but still great.

Tom Cruise is getting up there in age, and hes not a huge guy. However, that actually works in his favor in many fight scenes. Look at his fighting style, he can actually go 95% on his punches against the stuntmen. As they're 30 something tough guys, they can most likely handle his punches, but it makes for incredibly realistic looking fights. Especially when you compare it to movies where they cut away during the punch, or use perspective to avoid contact. Cruise can actually load up a serious punch, and the stuntman will make it real.

100% agree with your video! After the movie, me and my mom talked about how Hailey Atwells character wasn't a Mary Sue. She was genuinely scared, during those moments when something absolutely crazy was happening. It didn't seem like she had a handle on everything 100% of the time. And that was refreshing to watch 😅
@danavixen6274 Жыл бұрын
YES! I loved Hayley's vulnerability! She was tough and clever at times yet had her moments when she was frightened for good reason. I love how the women (Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, and Rebecca Ferguson) were portrayed in this great MI flick!❤

I think Tom Cruise has shown great talent in roles that aren't action like the Firm, A few good men, Interview with vampire, and the list goes on, so I think he should do more of that as he moves forward.

10 years ago this is a normal movie. It’s astonishing you have to describe the role of a regular actress in these clown times.

I disagree a bit with what you said at 2:40 about Tom Cruise not having been in any movie that is one of the greatest of its genre. The Last Samurai is one of my favorite historical dramas of all time (even though the plot itself is mostly fictional).

The movie wasnt perfect, but it was entertaining nonetheless. Like some other commenter said, check your brain at the door. This is a fun summer blockbuster movie. It aint trying to be macbeth or the sound of freedom. The movie was not woke, there was no forced diversity. The movie does not lecture the audience, has no hidden or overt social justice agenda. Tom isnt overpowered by any of the females. It is just a fun popcorn movie. And it sucks that many people are shitting on the movie.
@jimman-beard2167 Жыл бұрын
Think this is a perfect comment, this movie was not greatest movie ever, but is Awesome simply because it does not force political agendas, it isn't woke, and forcing crap down my throat. A rare thing in hollywood nowadays.

Fair review. I liked it, but honestly preferred MI 5& 6 with tighter stories and better villains - acknowledging it's only one half of a complete story, but despite it's amazing stunts it somehow didn't grip me the way MI 5 and MI 6. Cheers.

Your mission should you choose to accept it Mr. Cruise, is to film the next sequel to Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning during the largest Hollywood strike with writers and actors. Could've would've should've filmed it back to back.

I've done fencing its really difficult and you can get exhausted quickly because it takes a lot of muscles in your body to be flexible and trained well. She seems a lot better with guns and hand to hand combat. Also it was to develop the story. Showed that grabriel has taken someone else Ethan cares about with no remorse, he liked it, he wanted to kill her with the quote "I was hoping it would be you", which developed Gabriels character even more.

I expected way more people to express disappointment at Ilsa's exit from the franchise. Her skills were under utilized. How does she die at the hand of a guy who couldn't even wipe out Grace quickly? The movie stopped being enjoyable right after that, I tell you.
@themarjoriedeleon Жыл бұрын
@@miguellowe2407Well said. I can't comprehend either how that death scene happened. And the movie kept trying to shove Grace into our face as Ilsa's replacement for Ethan's affections.

There was only one scene I thought was pretty bad; the fight between the main antagonist and the Russian girl. It was really poorly choreographed, and there was sped up shots that looked like they weren't supposed to be sped up, but they just had to because the two actors were not seasoned fight actors. And go figure that the one cruddy scene is also the only scene that Tom Cruise isn't in
