We are all hardwired to search for God,every one knows deep down that their is a God but people's anger, arrogance, pride, bitterness keeps them at odds with God, there is no such thing as an atheist just people too caught up in the modern world with pride and the love of money leading them astray

I suppose even atheists have crises of faith. Perhaps you should carve out some time for yourself and just be quiet. Then listen.

This reminds me of St Charbel, who broke his mother’s heart and went to the hermitage to live a life of solitude, silence, prayer and suffering love for God and the world. The superior of the monetary, when St Charbel was becoming a hermit (not yet a hermit), gave permission to Charbel to see his mother when she visited him but also gave him the choice to not see her. He chose not to see her but said to her “I will see you in heaven.” At this visit he only heard her voice and the last time he saw her was the day before he ran away from his village to enter the monastery. This break up and heart break that he brought to his family brought them closer to God, because all his family, his sisters and brothers, tried to visit him every now and then and return to the Church.

I am a hermit on two acres of land where I live in a small trailer and have two brothers who also live on the property each in their own trailers. None of us ever married. As a young man, I am seventy one now, I struggled against the Vietnam war and sought to overturn the corporate state. I have been a christian communist ever since I graduated from high school and do not believe in the legitimacy of capitalist state. All land of more than a small size belongs to the community as no man created the land. I have been a mystic all my life and been visited by God a number of times. When I was eighteen God visited me and took me on a visit to Paradise and a meeting with God in Heaven. I am so happy with my life by myself. The early Christians were communist, read Acts in the bible, and I pray for a Christian communist takeover of our country and the world as we wait for Christs return.

@@chartreusecat6642 I I wanted to say to you that a visit by God is the most real and normal thing that can ever happen to a person. In three seconds I realized I had always known God and HE was the closest person to me in my life. God said life here on the earth was a terrible gift for us and if it were't a gift then we wouldn't be going through it. God said that He knew it was terrible down here and so He God would go through it, too. But, then said ," But it doesn't last so very long and then you're with me. We are here to live this terrible gift and so we must know that it is right for us to be here for now. But, all so soon you and all of us will be with God forever and then you will experience it ,too. It is coming home, Over and over I said,"I am home, I am home.

@@chartreusecat6642 I am someone who deals both with the spirit world and the physical world and there is still a war going on between the forces of God and Satan and I experience that war. I am not perfect and have been disciplined by God twice. Once I went to Hell and it took God to put me back together mentally after that. Another time I was approached by an angry God for a misdeed with God saying, "I will not be used.". I changed my behavior quickly , saying I am so sorry. Three times demons have tried to kill me and only saved by God touching my mind and telling me what I must immediately do to save myself. A demon has approached me asking me to join them. I have seen the unhappy spirits of people who have died. . There is a battle going on still that can be very frightening to see. But, all the things with God have been beautiful and even the discipline I needed I am thankful for. So, this is probably not for everyone.

I met a former monk at a beach resort, he spent 25 plus years at it and two years as a hermit monk. Definitely seemed to regret it. He was enjoying an expensive cigar, expensive bourbon, wearing expensive clothing and his new wife. Seems like earthly pleasure isn’t so bad.

Forgive me but I’m confused and not finding it in the comments so far. How is it that the church accepts this man to become a priest when he left his family? Doesn’t the church honor marriage as a vocation? Shouldn’t they have encouraged him to instead reunite with his wife and his family? Given that a (is he Latin rite?) priest cannot be married, that would mean that after his wife converted and they were reunited, that they were reunited not as husband and wife but as friends. But then that would mean they were divorced which also should prevent him from being ordained altogether?

My beloved the church allows those married persons who are converted to the catholic Church and wish to be a priest they can go to priesthood this is the only accepted condition of married men ordination in the catholic Church
@SedContraApologia
@SedContraApologia 2 жыл бұрын
The presumption here is that the marriage was not within the Church (as stated in the video it was a civil marriage which is not a sacrament) rendering it invalid (I don't know the details) but I would believe that if it had been in the Church it would not be possible that he were to leave his family to pursue a "new vocation" Also the context of his conversion, I am sure, plays a factor in his past life being held in a different light then one who was a practicing believer who abandoned his state in life.

Marriage is a precious vocation on the eye level with others. Sometimes God calls humans to leave in order to enter a new path. Saint Niklaus von Flüe is one of those examples who transferred from marriage to hermit life. It seems to be important that the wife or husband of a hermit gives them free, and agrees. As far as I know men can become priest if the marriage was not understood as a sacrament like in the Catholic church. Non sacramental marriages of other faiths seem not to hinder a person to become a priest, may the marriage have been divorced or may it still last. The agreement between the couple seems important. I wished this could be done in cases of Catholic marriages too. It does not seem me to be disrespectful at all. It is the spirit who calls, and love paired with respect that might set a partner free. To treat couples differently is what seems me to be really disrespectful.

@@themorbidmole9247 You are probably right since i don't believe the church would allow someone to be ordained to the priesthood if he is sacramentally married and has left his marriage while the spouse is still living. Thank you for explaining.

It sounds to me like he believes God "broke up" his marriage in order to help him find his way back to God, and that he believes the same about his ex-wife. That sounds awfully strange to me. Why would God command marriage and then break it up just to draw someone to Himself? It sounds like he never should have married in the first place, but that happens and people learn from these things. Either way, I pray for both him and his family. I too have a desire for the hermit life, but find myself with a large amount of debt from student loans. Instead of pursuing education, I probably should have left the world, but I was young and didn't want to upset my parents and siblings. Still, I feel it is right to take care of our responsibilities rather than leave the world, so I continue to pay my debts and work at a job I don't always care for. I have to wonder about this man's responsibility to his family, and where that fit into his decision-making process. It sounds like he made his decision before he converted to the Catholic church. Christ definitely has a way of changing the things that are important to us, and I'm glad to see he went about it the right way, with the Church's and his bishop's approval. I'm struggling with that myself right now. May God lead us both to Him in His own timing...
