I can see why you don't like dealing with tail winds landing there. That was another 'edge of my seat' thrill watching that approach and worrying about that updraft just before touchdown. Good thing the wind wasn't there but it was still a thrilling landing. Great video, Ryan!

Fantastic landing Rayan! You’ve proven that you’re a special pilot and to take us with you on these flights we thank you. There is so much to learn. You make me remember the days of flying with my friend, in the copilot seat, who is an accomplished bush pilot here in Guyana South America and touching down in so many remote airstrips. The excitement and adventure, incomparable. I still have dreams of learning to fly and keep them alive by looking at your videos. Thanks Ryan!

Your guidelines for landing on slopes is helpful - i.e. 'match the slope, then flare' and the speed additive you use for this. There is private, local strip on a lakeside where this will come in handy. Thanks!

Wow even I had to catch my breath in that landing, I know how you feel, 20 yrs ago I tried landing Cessna 172 in bad weather ,I was still in training at 51 hrs. the weather/wind just went nuts at the last minutes of my left base , have to admit I was scared. Looking out your windows at all the nice homes/property and the beautiful land, make me wonder those people must live a stress free life . I would love to have a view like that in my yard with a tea and a good book , just thinking about it feels stress free. Cheers brother and blessings.

Mate just wondering if you have heard of Yongai Airport, its near Woitape, about 20kms away. Its at 1981m and length is 353m. I remember flying in there in Gr12 when I was at Port Moresby International High School in 1986. We landed there the did a 4 day hike back to Woitape and flew out from there back to POM. We climbed up Mt Albert Edward and spent the night near the summit at 3,990m as part of the hike. I remember the strip as I'm an aviation enthusiast myself, it was extremely short, someone said 6th shortest in PNG, big uphill gradient when landing and just before touch down the stall light came on, then landed uphill. Watched the pilot leave as well, downhill, throttled up under brakes and then let her rip down hill, big drop off on approach as well at the landing and departure end. Classic PNG, one way in and out. Just thought I'd mention it as it was a short strip and hairy! Great to see the videos keep coming as each one brings back a memory of 17 beautiful years in PNG. My Tok Pisin still as good as my English.

Talking about tailwind reminds me of a flight I was on. I think we left from Denver airport and were going to the east coast. It was to be about a three hour flight at around 300 mph. It ended up being something like an hour and a half. The pilot said we hit a strong jet stream and at times were over 600 mph. Was that some tailwind? So I I had an extra hour and a half to wait at the airport for my next flight south into Jacksonville, N.C.

Ryan what do you do if the tail wind is right at or below your limit on final, says it’s 7, and then increases to 8 or 9 after the commit point? Do you have to land and just accept the 9 knot tailwind? After commit point, you really only have one option, to land regardless, correct?
