8:08 How are you gaining KCT Upgrade Points every few game days while simultaneously controlling an active craft?
@TDChannelKSP
@TDChannelKSP Жыл бұрын
Science! Tons of active probes on various missions gaining science in the background through kerbalism (since experiments take months or years to complete), and science converts directly into KCT points - don't remember the conversion factor off hand, I think it's 20 science = 1 KCT point?

VASIMR drive technology in the mid-1960’s? The technology was 1st developed by MIT in the early 1980’s.
@TDChannelKSP
@TDChannelKSP 2 ай бұрын
Correct! This timeline doesn't follow historical progression, but rather a "speedrun" of the (normally historical) RP-1 career mode mod for KSP. I planned missions in such a way that tech and missions are now far ahead of real-life progression.

You know what an interesting challenge would be? Getting a kerbal on the moon after King Midas accidentally engoldened the solar system. Basically earth has 3.5x gravity and the moon has 5.78x gravity. It took me 3 hours to refine a 1000 ton rocket enough to get 3 tons of command pod into LEO, so I can't imagine just how crazy of a rocket you'd need to make it all the way to moon.

Was there much science returned from crewed orbit/EVA/other experiments around Venus, or was it more a proof of concept mission, (or to keep Bill from retiring)?
@TDChannelKSP
@TDChannelKSP Жыл бұрын
The science value itself wasn't that much, but the contract value for Venus flyby/orbit was something like 10 million funds (I think?) which made it worthwhile. Bill was the last of the OG 4 that hadn't been exposed to much radiation, so this is the last beyond Earth SOI mission for those 4.

How do you plan and execute burns that last months to years?
@TDChannelKSP
@TDChannelKSP Жыл бұрын
Persistent thrust! Combined with a maneuver node is usually good enough, but for just plain braking pointing mostly retrograde, time warp, then adjust a bit works. It's a bit of a headache trying to juggle multiple vessels though. Sadly the mod itself is quite buggy - separating or rendezvousing craft can stop you from time warping at all, and sometimes *any* engines on *any* crafts won't produce any thrust. So I uninstall it unless I absolutely need it.
