For the second state in our “50 States in a Year'' series, we’re visiting Mississippi, specifically the Gulf Coast also known as the Secret Coast. We had one day to explore the 62 miles of coastline, starting on the west end of the coast in Bay St. Louis, and working our way east through 12 unique coastal towns before ending our day watching the sunset on the beach in Ocean Springs! While 24 hours in Coastal Mississippi isn’t nearly enough time to experience all that this amazing area has to offer, it’s definitely enough time to realize that you need to plan a return visit!

Fun Fact: The Biloxi Lighthouse is the only lighthouse in the United States that sits in the middle of a four-lane highway (US 90). The city always has it decorated beautifully for the Christmas season.

Great video of one of my favorite coasts! It's amazing to see the coast transformed back to life after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 which wiped it out for several years. I used to work at The Chimneys! Not only is the food and atmosphere A+ but the owners/chefs/waitstaff are amazing too. It may look upscale but everything on the Coast tends to be quite casual, I'm sure they wouldn't have minded one bit if you'd filmed inside 😃. If you come back this way, you MUST go to Mary Mahoney's in Biloxi. The owners of the Roost have also opened up another boutique hotel in the middle of downtown OS called The Hemingway... it's just beautiful :) and Cat Island Coffeehouse in Pass Christian is a must-see gem!

I'm doing my best to upload but my wedding season is starting up and it gets hard working two jobs. I over booked with weddings thinking no one would book me and finally now just raised my prices. My husband is my designated driver too! I drive like a grandma, him like a NASCAR driver. Yet I am not allowed to gasp or say a word about it. It’s one of the eight out of twelve cities across Coastal Mississippi not showcased in the video. (The other seven not mentioned: Waveland, Diamondhead, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gautier, Moss Point, Pascagoula.) There is so much more to the region than these DMO-pushed basics.

@@AdventuresofMattandNat lots!the rows of old antebellum homes on hy90, the Camille memorial is a pond and the tiles are like a radar blip but they changed the color and its looks awful. There was a church bell tower beside from the previous church that was blown away in 69 that was made into a st.michaels prayer shrine. its gone. The 12 foot steel fishermans statue as you come into biloxi on the old bridge. It had 10 foot steel concrete pylons and katrina ripped them out. The old Beauvoir with the original buidlings and the wooded area separating the grounds and the cemetery.they rebuilt the cottage to specs where Jefferson Davis wrote his books. the original treasure Bay casino. it was half a castle and the other half a pirate ship. it was huge. And the Broadwater where the president casino was. It was a concrete building on a barge shaped like a Mississippi steamboat and the marina was next to it.it was beautiful inside. Katrina threw the whole casino and barge and put it upside down next to the coliseum. And lastly there was a nightclub that was called gators. it was big with glass all the way around with neon light edging. It was 3 story's high and the center with a huge state of Florida flag hanging down. Thats just a little. They have a book of before and after. Hope this wasn't too long? Its turning into another condo infested panama city beach.....SAD! I really enjoy your channel!!

@@AdventuresofMattandNat yeah when I first visited Biloxi in 92 gambling was just legalized in Mississippi. All they had was 2 riverboats at the docks for casinos. There is also a German u boat sunk 20 miles off the coast of Biloxi. They have a model about the size of a car they pull around town that was not destroyed. My stepmothers first husband was tracking uboats near Bay county Florida when he was working with the early formation of the Cia. Theres also proof that a German pow in a camp near Montgomery Alabama had in his possession a ticket from the Martin theater in downtown Panama city that has been confirmed. A little more trivia for yall.

Hey!! We love us some Vegas too! For Biloxi, unless you plan to stay at the hotel/casino the whole time, you would probably want a car...or you could easily Uber for the handful of times you would probably plan to leave! Haha… Honestly, we felt the same going into our trip there. Hadn’t ever really seen much that we liked about Mississippi, but Coastal Mississippi is a totally different thing! Especially Bay St. Louis and Ocean Springs! Ocean Springs was probably our favorite area.
