I am so sorry to hear this time has been so difficult for you. As someone who moved from Virginia to Edinburgh for University I know a little of what you are experiencing...definitely make sure you get outside as much as you can when it's sunny. Winter is coming, so with the shorter days it will be even more important you do that. I know you have your dog - take advantage of him and explore places to take him on walks, maybe even join a class or group of dog walkers as a way to meet people? I know that depression related issues are super complex and individual and this is only the very tip of a complicated iceberg, but just as someone who has experienced it myself...getting outside in the sunshine when you can is soooo important. Hang in there

I also have bipolar disorder and live in an area with very short days in winter. I highly recommend getting a happy light! Speaking for myself, during winter it became nearly as important for me as medication to manage my mood.

I would hire a professional organizer to come in and go room by room and unpack, put things away, and deal with all the boxes and bags that need recycling and stored away. I'm really serious about this. There is no shame in getting help and with winter coming, I think this would be greatly beneficial to your mental health. Then, as a treat during the winter months, hire an interior decorator to come help organize, suggest, and purchase new items for your home. This will keep you very engaged and help the short, cold, days to pass more quickly. Then by next summer, your home will be in order!

I recommend getting a day-light lamp especially as it gets closer to winter! Sitting in front of it for a few mins a day helped me a lot when i moved to rainy Manchester

The one time something similar happened to me it was a b12 deficiency. I was literally feeling like I had to nap or sleep in the middle of the day. Some injections fixed that and a simple bloodtest. Maybe worth checking
@LaurenXanthe3 ай бұрын
I came here to say the exact same thing! I could not stop sleeping and felt so lethargic and groggy and when I checked my b12 was so low.

When we moved from Colombia to the US we were struggling! It takes a while for your body to adjust, it’s a big change down to your microbiome changing too because you’re eating foods from different soils, environment, etc. ❤❤ hope you’re able to find what needs a little help to settle all those symptoms!

Coming from your most recent prologues episode I just wanted to say major props to you for still showing up and posting a double vlog?? Knowing that you’ve been going through it as a fellow person that has been in the trenches because of mental health, I know it isn’t easy. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been going through depression. I have adhd + mental health issues and when I changed my birth control all of my symptoms were the same as yours. I was sleeping ALL the time, I was so depressed (more so than usual), I couldn’t get out of bed, I had horrible migraines, and my doctor (who was of course a man) thought it was my thyroid and sent me for numerous ultrasounds/ tests. Those came up normal. After I switched doctors I got off my birth control and switched to slow releasing hormone iud and it was like a fog was lifted in the world and I wasn’t as tired/depressed. It’s insane how much birth control can impact mental health!

I was seriously losing my self when I got on birth control. I had all the symptoms you have to the point that they had to put me on depression meds and the whole time it was my birth control messing me up. Changing/stopping your birth control is a lot on your body. I got off of it completely and my life changed 100%, good luck with your journey.

I feel like if I get the main areas like the kitchen, living room and bathroom done first then I feel less anxious. I can do the rest one room at a time. When I get overwhelmed I can take a break in a finished area.

Get your b-12 levels too! I thought I was supplementing well because it’s in my daily vitamin but apparently b-12 can be hard to absorb. I switched to liquid b-12 and it’s helped my fatigue so much. I hope you get it all figured out!

The same thing happened to me with BC when I moved to the UK. The one the NHS gave me was awful, so I pay £15 a month for my US one (your pharmacist should be able to prescribe it if not you can use a private GP or pick it up when you’re in the US).
@Alisunshinee13 ай бұрын
You are so beautiful, Mary! U hope you start feeling better soon. I switched BC once and my face broke out like crazy so I’m sure it could be the culprit of you having a change in your well being. Maybe you can find an equivalent that they carry in Scotland? ❤

Hi love !!! Make sure you check yourself for Hashimotos disease. It’s autoimmune disease that affects your Thyroid gland. Simple Thyroid test is not enough. You need to check antibodies. In USA it’s is ATPO. I have this condition, same symptoms.

I have PCOS which affects my adrenal gland and low iron. Sounds like you could use a good vitamin B and iron supplement.

As soon as I saw you pop open that Coke, I had to rush to the comment section and give you my experience. Since you said you weren’t feeling well. I’m hypoglycemic and have been since my 20s. When I was in my 40s, I decided to give up sugar And I did for a couple of years. Because I loved Coke and couldn’t give it up. I found that Coke zero had a great taste, not that yucky diet taste so I practically lived on the stuff. After the second year I started feeling really crummy all the time, and I couldn’t explain why. Giving up sugar had made me feel so good initially. I had read some things about Coke zero that weren’t good, like Long-term use of it can mimic symptoms of autoimmune diseases, like lupus and MS in your body. I gave it up and I can tell you the difference in my body was like night and day. I never drink another Coke zero again. It felt like my body was on vacation,i The difference was that the immediate, and that noticeable. So I just wanted to impart that to you because of my experience Also, I’m glad you’re getting your thyroid checked, I discovered in my late 30s that my thyroid was off, and as soon as I went on thyroid medication, again, like night and day difference in my body and mood But girl - please don’t do Coke zero! 🙏 I love how sweet you are with your dog, When you talk to him, you sound just like me when I had mine! I’m excited to see how your space is filling in, I love the way you decorate - Give yourself some credit, you did a great job in that guestroom and living room.

Mary, get your Vitamin D checked as well if you can because you might need more than you’re taking. I have Bipolar 2 so I’m used to depressive episodes and feeling low energy/fatigued sometimes but my NP checked my Vitamin D levels and it was dangerously low. It had been affecting my immune system and unknowingly making me super lethargic. She put me on a high-ish dose of Vitamin D and after 4 months I feel loads better. She also let me know Vitamin D is a precursor for serotonin which was mind blowing. Whatever it is - I hope you get some answers soon and find a helpful course of treatment. Thinking about you and sending lots of bad vibes to this moving company 😍

I've been going to a holistic doctor for a few months now, and she has been really helpful in tackling any nutrition deficiencies based on my blood work, sleep health, and hormones since I've stopped birth control. I know you mentioned you might see one, so hopefully you check it out! I hope you and anyone else here in the comments can get the help they need to feel better
