This was smokin' hot. Two fantastic guitarist and musicians. Love both guys and have for years. I love how they played off one another not trying to outdo but mesh and soar together. Also love that they did not stick with typical blues notes and patterns with almost an Eastern or middle Eastern flair wow they were burning up the finger boards. Have to give major credit also to bass and drums. They kept it solid the whole time these guys left the Universe on their solos, but had that solid bottom so they had a foundation to come back too. The folks that were there were very fortunate indeed. I loved every second of this.

I'm not trying to seem superior, but I have been listening to Eric Gales since I bought his first album in 1991 when he was only 15 years old. The guy is amazing and genuinely humble and real. Watching him grow over the years has been awesome. And he has a lot in common with Joe because they were both child prodigies. Great bond.

Eric was Eric 20 years before anyone knew Joe. He was the next big thing before drugs and some time in the big house stopped his trajectory. You can find early Eric in KZbin playing on the Arsenio Hall Show. Glad to see him making his way back to the top.

Been a guitarist for over 20 years but took a long break from playing. Grew up on blues but eventually my tastes and style of playing moved towards prog rock/metal and the like. Now I'm just getting back into playing and figured I'd get back to my blues roots instead of jumping right back into the highly technical style of prog playing I grew accustomed to. Long story short - I googled who the face of blues guitar was this era and these two names were what popped up. I am absolutely amazed by both of their ability to blend advanced technique with the heart and soul that is the essence of blues guitar. I was planning on using my blues roots to get back to where I was in terms of playing - but after hearing this, I think I'll be staying put.
@buddyboy60713 жыл бұрын
Personally I think only Eric has heart and soul in his playing. Joe is technically amazing but he is like a robot.
@dantimber2 жыл бұрын
@@buddyboy6071 I agree. Joe is talented technically, no question about it. But where's the soul? Shredding isn't impressive. Frankly I'd rather listen to Eddie Van Halen because at least there's context. I realize this piece isn't blues/rock but compare it to Billy Gibbon's or Chuck Berry or most of the blues masters and it comes off flat. But what do I know? People seem to like it.
