Man this had everything you want. He catches that charge the possession before that could have cost them the game. They get a couple seconds and one more try, and he throws up just an immaculate bank. His team loves him too. That wasn’t just a bunch of guys excited that they won, they were excited that he did it.

Unbelievable play by D’Moi Hodge to push that ball over to Gholston as he’s falling down. I’m a huge Mizzou fan so I’ve been following this team closely. Hodge is almost certainly the guy they wanted to have the ball at the end given his high shooting percentage from 3, but Hodge is also a guy that makes a ton of grit plays. Steals, pass deflections, making the extra pass, etc. He plays hard and plays smart. Great awareness to realize he’s definitely not going to have time to collect himself and get the shot as he’s falling, even better awareness to find the guy trailing the play who DOES have a shot. Some players get so caught up in hero ball and want to make that winning shot so badly that many players in the same position may have held onto the ball as they were falling, accepting they defeat and that they won’t make the play. Hodge had the instincts to find someone else to make the play. Gholston made some plays in the second half of that one. These guys have been fun to watch.

A lot of times I’ve seen teams who are trailing by a point or two in this situation foul. I’m glad Mizzou was rewarded in deciding to let their defense play the possession out and give themselves just enough time to win the game after getting a stop.
