You might want to make a trial square because of the difference in the thickness of the denim with the iron on interfacing on the lighter weight quilting cotton if you will be using regular denim from jeans, before trying to source all of the jeans needed for this quilt. They might be more expensive than the fabric that Misty used. I hope that you have a great time trying this block out ☺️!

@@judithburke1539, most of us can source enough jeans and other fabrics for free just by letting people know that we’re using them to make quilts.

I am fortunate my machines don’t seem to demand at seam “leader” or jump fabric at the beginning of a seam, but I have never continued with the stitching at the end of a seam as you’re doing here. I’ll have to try it, but that Bernette (Bernina) must be a great machine, Misty! Great tutorial, too, thanks! 😊

I don't use leader & enders, either. I'm wondering if she did it to just have the extra thread to be able to spin around to the next seam. I would have just pulled a little out myself.

When I first saw the quilt I thought I wouldn't ever make it - I don't care for raw edge applique. Then I remembered about sewing a shape with lightweight fusible interface and turning it, then topstitching in place. Now this is one I might try.

If you did that, you wouldn’t even have to make half square triangles; just lay out the pool fabric in the size you want your project (quilt, table runner, etc) to be, and then appliqué on the navy orange peels!😊

As one left-handed quilter to another, I need to know - are the scissors in the tool box right-handed or ambidextrous? My mother, also a lefty, cut & ironed right-handed. Cutting the satin for my wedding dress with my left hand gave me a pinched nerve in my thumb. Are there any other lefties in your family? My mom, brother, sister & I are & so was my dad's mirror twin! Each of us is a different degree of left-handedness.
