@@boogityhoo7452 1. Surprise is not the only metric for good art. If you’d ever made art you’d know what a ridiculous expectation ‘originality’ is. 2. There have always been zeitgeists of certain types of movies and formulas that dominated the industry. In the 20s it was musicals. In the 50s it was westerns. Etc. This also happens on a smaller scale within genres. 3. There are always good, weird movies. If you can’t find any, you’re either not looking because you like to complain or any time you find something interesting it’s “too weird” because you actually want very formulaic movies, just slightly off-center. This is the same as when people complain there’s no good music. It’s a sign of aging and/or laziness when it comes to seeking out art. Or just being a normie who wants to pretend they aren’t.

My great grandmother didn't realize that Christmas for Americans was the same Christmas as other countries (she was not totally with it and genuinely didn't understand) so she thought Cinco de Mayo was Mexican Christmas. To be fair, Hispanic households do have some nice home decorations. A lot of candles and Jesus, but also a lot of color and patterns. The granny is either not into knitting or is all about it and it shows. There will be a granny and she will be the sweetest woman... Once she decides she likes you, if she decides she likes you. Though you unlock the worlds best tamales once she has accepted you. Just make sure to tell granny that she makes the best ones you've had. As a white dude in South Texas, I always enjoy going over to someones house. Its usually some kind of extravaganza if invitations are given and you should be excited. Just a story, but when I was deployed on an aircraft carrier for the Navy, George actually visited us for a few days. He did a stand up show that lasted less than an hour, and i remember actually laughing quite a bit but then again we were months into hell so I anything was funny. He also promised us shirts with Mr. Electro (his character from Shark Boy/Lava Girl i think) face on it but that never happened lol
