I'm just saying, as a French person who regularly eats beef liver, I usually cook it. it's quite common to eat things like heart, tongue, liver, bone marrow, and other less used parts of meat, but it's usually cooked, prepped and eaten like regular meat, along veggies or some pasta/rice. One of my favorite dishes is actually beef liver cooked in butter, red wine vinegar and parsley. Then the cooked liver is put on the plate and the "juice" is mixed in the pan with cooked pasta. Its fantastic and a family recipe. Anyways, great video, I just thought it was fun to see the cultural differences between the us and france

Right. Like "You have all these gadgets to do things easier? And you DON'T use them?" and then our ancestors would literally kill to have the modern conveniences.
@equidistanthoneyjoy76002 жыл бұрын
Well, the thing is, he isn't living like our ancestors. Our ancestors definitely did not eat this much meat, nor did they work out this excessively. They also didn't just sleep on the ground. Meat is hard to come across in nature. No farms back then meant getting meat required hunting. Hunting with just a handmade spear is easy to fail, even easier if you have nothing at all. For the most part, when our ancestors ate meat they scavenged the kills from other predators. One thing they'd do was eat bone marrow, since our intelligence made us more able to get into the bones to get the bone marrow, while a large cat or wolf would have a very hard time doing that. Laziness is essential in a survival scenario. The more you do in a day, the more energy you expend. You really need to watch that, because it is extremely easy to die of exhaustion if you're especially restless. There are survival based shows where they put members of the public in the wild to survive, and just one unreasonably restless dude can ruin it for the rest, because they consume way more food and often times achieve very little. Building muscle also makes you a huge resource hog, and a 60kg dude can throw a spear hard enough to kill a deer just as easily as a 100kg dude, so that muscle does nothing for survival. Sleeping on the ground is a great way to lose all your heat. That's fine in a house because you're insulated, but in nature sleeping on the ground will make you wake up stiff and in pain, and in cold enough environments it can even kill you. Just a pile of leaves can significantly increase your odds of survival. On top of all that, there's strong evidence that this Liver King dude is taking growth hormones. They don't grow on trees, so he absolutely isn't living like our ancestors. All these paleo-bros would give up on actually living like our ancestors because one real defining feature of our ancestors is anxiety. You have to be constantly alert for danger, because there's no civilisation safety net. You really want to live like a hunter gatherer, you need to be in a state of constant stress, and that's just an awful way to live.

As an anthropology major I just want to mention that even by the most aggressive estimates of when humans began being notably different from animals, we have never chosen to eat raw meat. Since the discovery of fire nearly all meat (and a large portion of non-meat foods) began being cooked and no group to my understanding has ever willfully gone back to not cooking meat. Even in the most dire situations (like mass starvation and drought) food has still been cooked. In a site where one of my professors studied there was substantial evidence for cannibalistic behavior and one of the best examples was that the bones had been cooked. The bone marrow actually had been eaten out of a few long bones, but only after cooking. There was so little food that these people turned to eating each other and they still cooked their meat.

I like that he didn’t just continually rail on the Liver King the entire time. He was truthful of what he experienced and offered an unbiased look. Again, if people are foolish enough to see this as promotion or think the Liver King is a good guy based on a few Instagram DMs, that’s on them. From what I’ve seen in the comments the vast majority still don’t agree with the Liver King and think what he’s hawking is disingenuous, a scam, and at worst dangerous. Weirdest part abt the whole mentality of this liver king guy is like…humans have always had ways to clean themselves. You can even see other primates cleaning and grooming themselves. Ancient humans didn’t have as many issues with tooth decay because their diet contained a lot of gritty, hard materials like grains (which help remove plaque by scraping it off), less sugar, and throughout history there are instances of people chewing on certain types of bark or sticks to clean their teeth. Humans (and other animals!) have always been aware about hygiene because being dirty can cause infection, sickness, or attract pests like insects. Additionally?? People also?? Like to be warm?? Yes in ancient times people often went cold because they had no other option, but humans learned how to make fire and clothing to avoid the cold as much as possible, additionally humans, as social animals, most often lived in packs/groups, so very likely body heat was also a component to stave off the cold lol

I’m quite spiritual and i understood alot of what Liver King was actually saying. Danny also mentions qt the end that he too understands some things and that him and Brian bonded over certain elements but this wasn’t his cup of tea and that his needs trump those of this lifestyle so i don’t think he’s actually condoning it and if he is he’s telling you to do the parts that are helpful like going outside, self reflecting and working out which are the least intense bits of the lifestyle
@Its_Brigid_at_it_again2 жыл бұрын
It seems there's some things that Mr. The Liver King was right about, and some things he was overblown about. Things like spending time outside, especially when it's nice, exercising, eating a diet rich in vitamins and sleeping well are very important and often neglected in the modern day. Of course there were some things taken way too far, but a lot of it, in moderation, is good advice. Also, if he packed the meat with dry ice, the ice would not have melted into a liquid, but instead sublimated into CO2 gas! Which would explain the empty ice bag

One thing about this lifestyle is that they are all about family and respect, so they can definitely be wholesome. The issue I had with my friend is that he went beyond being passionate about certain things but to the point of like denying science (like Liver King with the cell phones and tuning into earth's biorhythms kinda woo stuff). It gets to be obnoxious when you get told you have to do X, Y, or Z if you want to make any more progress because that was never part of the package, and when you refuse to take that next step, just like a cult, they alienate you and make you feel like your entire friendship was a lie.
