Many Asian Chinese only buy Hermes, Chanel and LV as they have the so called best retaining value but they forgot that it’s important to buy something that you truly love too! Chinese people are all about prestige and money and seldom follow their hearts! We truly are good at looking like a million bucks but bad at living a happy life! 😂

I love this advice and i definitely shop like this. My bags are actually super funky in weird color ways but i love them because they reflect what i actually like to wear and as a result i actively wear all of them

I sooo wish I had saved up money back in 2012-2013 and had bought a Chanel bag! Back then it seemed so far out of my reach but if I add up all the money I spent on mid tier brands I definitely would’ve been able to afford it. Comparing prices back then to now is just painful 😅😅😅😅

im 16 and have been saving alot! i wld have saved enough for a chanel wallet on chain just like yours by the time my exam ends and i am so buying it. ive been looking at it for the longest time and i truly think its the right decision!! (i also made sure i set aside about the same amount of money for other non-luxuries too as i would NEVER buy a luxury product if i only have enough for one) cant wait to get it soon 😆😆😆

I agree! About personal style and 'trendy' purchases anyways... When I was younger; I used to buy products that looked good on their own, but didn't really match a lot of my wardrobe or accessories I already had. So when I wanted to wear specific items: it was really hard to match them to anything. Which doesn't sound that bad, if you went to get something that could pair them up with, but that's like getting something extra, and it'd still only be that one pairing as opposed to many other combos you could do. I got these light blue tie dye shorts for example, and alone, they look so cute and cool (imo), but that blue is really hard to match with that pattern. I thought it'd cool to match another tie dye with it... it didn't match with any other one and only looked like I had an accident with the washing lol instead, the only things that could ever match, were solid colors, and only black or white 🤷‍♂️ the blue is almost like a medical scrubs 'light blue'. I feel like this is like their standard blue. And so, like that one pair of shorts, there's also other 'one-off' items that have like one possible look thatd match with them, and that I almost regret getting, as I dont reach for them often as I thought I would in the moment. There's this other pair of Jean's that I can think of, relevant to the topic of being a "trendy purchase"; it was from Diesel, and they were around $250? Something kinda ridiculous, but I thought they were soo 'cool' at that time... they were skin tight skinny jeans lol I forgot the style name, but just remember wishing I had bought the size a little larger to wear as I was growing lol 🤷‍♂️ I did wear them a lot though, but only as often as that trend was going on for. I eventually gave them away to someone that I thought would like them that I knew.

I bought too many of those Coach, Mk, Kate Spade handbags in different colors to match different outfits. I should have saved the money to buy a nicer designer piece that I would use forever. Now I don’t have any of those other handbags; I either have them away, donated them, or sold them. When we spend more on something, sometimes we take better care of it and use it for long term - it becomes a forever piece and not couple of years piece.

People are sheep, they want to fit in that's why they follow trends blindly. Have your own personal style and set your own benchmark. Stop following the crowd and be you. This is the best fashion advice you can probably get.

Yea and cary chanel every where litdrally o get bored of things so quickly that i cant imagine carrying 1 thing everywhere as a uniform different people different approach even if u buy 100 dollar bag if u dont drag it on streets it can last more than 5 years 😊

That’s what used to happen to me. I started investing in fewer, high quality made bags and haven’t had that problem happen to me since! Also helps if you purchase from a store with great customer service that help repair any defects free of charge within a reasonable time frame

When it comes to more expensive brands & accessories, people may want to buy it as an investment and want to see it appreciate. Or they may want to resell it in the future and use that money to buy a different item (if it retains it's value more, you can sometimes get back the same or more of the cost, which means it's like wearing that item for free all those years).

It's definitely been quite an increase in price since I purchased it! Looking back, It's interesting that I thought it was really expensive at the time. It's all relative to how much you make + your net worth relative to your expenses. But there are other quality bag brands out there at a lower price point that also make a great timeless addition to your wardrobe, it definitely doesn't need to be the one I'm wearing here.

There’s just an obvious disconnect about what you’re saying. You grew older and started earning your own money and more money that’s why you bought Chanel and other luxury brands now. I mean why would you buy Guess and Coach if you’re able to afford the luxury brands. Just be real and say you couldn’t afford it then. You said it yourself, save money to be able to buy them one day. 😂
