I have been practicing the art of "no contact". I highly recommend it and not for anything to do with your ex. If you practice "no contact" with the hopes of manipulating your exes behavior into reaching out it may or may not work. If they do reach out, how comfortable are you going to be if you got the relationship back together? Will you be walking on egg shells? What have they been doing since you had a "break"? Will they so easily discard you again and make you re-live all this pain? That does not sound fun. If they do not reach out you will be constantly wondering if you should have, if you were just doing it to manipulate them. Practice "no contact" for yourself with no expectations of the other party, only for yourself. Get your power back because you actually always had it.

OMG- Don't write the hand written letter. I wrote a hand written letter. We got back together about a year later, I moved back into the house and saw the letter laying on the closet floor "never opened". I read the letter and saw how pathedic is actually was. My new, stronger, more confident me felt so much shame and wanted to go back in time and beat the crap out of the old me. Find your pride and realize that you are worth a lot. If they dont want you, move on. Your confidence and independence will be attractive to them and they will reach back out to you. Be in a hurry to become the best you you can be. You will either find someone better or you will get then back. Either way, win win. Craig and Margaret are the best... do what they say. I just went through a tough no contact period and i did it exactly for 4 Weeks. On the last day (Exactly 4 Weeks after no contact) i brought my car to the garage to get some stuff some and took the train. Guess who i bumped into, yup my ex. I smiled politely and went in the train. We sat a couple feet away from each other. We suddenly ran to the bathroom and i stood up to check up on him. He came out crying saying how much he missed me and wants me back. I did not expect this response because he didnt say a word to be duringno contact and kind of given up on him. But little did i know that it was making him insane. Every day felt even worse to him, when he didnt hear from me. We are starting off slow again. We broke up cause he needed space and couldnt handle it all at once. I was devestated cause he showed me the cold shoulder. No contact was the ONLY thing that made this word and make each other miss us like crazy.

I don't want her to think I was stalking her. I will never do that again. At least I know she still has a job. But I really never expected her to answer the phone. She is a security guard. The problem with all these "don't write letters" advices is the following - you cannot put all type of letters in one basket. Most of folks write love letters in order to try to get their ex back which is a huge mistake. What worked for me, and by "work" I mean i got the result I wanted which was to say last goodbye and move on. I wrote an accountability letter where I thanked for all the good memories together, I acknowledged my mistakes (but never apologize in a letter) and pointed out that a break up was necessary for both of us to reflect upon ourselves, learn and go to next relationships stronger and smarter. Never got the reply, but that was the whole point of the letter - letting go in a peaceful and loving way. Remember in order to truly let them go - you actually have to love them in a non-ego way.

At least thats what i think aboute my relationship. She was scared and started to give any excuses to breakup . Nothing that she said was about me or the relationship… like “i dont like the city that you family leaves “ or “you dont like to go to the beach as much as i do “ ( by the way , i love surfing lol) some peolple are just to messed up to have someone in their life. Most of you are not the ones that should be hearing “work on your self and go to terapy “ , most of your ex should be hearing this. Thanks coach, everything you say is both directly and indirectly helpful. In the short time I've been following you, I've felt like I've grown up so much. I met this girl with which we were initially friendly, but then I got interested so I asked her out, we went on a few dates and everything was good up to that point. Quarantine happened and my mistake was I was texting this girl every day. Even if sometimes she was the first to reach, which was rare. I've realised my mistake now, but one day she just didn't text me and after a few days I asked if she's ok as I was genuinely worried if she was okay as she might have ended up in the hospital. She said sorry, she's tired thinking about something so i asked if i can call her, she then said she needed her own time, to which i replied I understand, i'll let her be and i'm there if she wants to share. She said thanks and that was it. Since then I initiated NC and don't know how I should move forward when and if she reaches out as I can't even ask her out on a date. I'm not even sure if she needs time because of something I did or it might even be something personal. Edit: I wasn't being clingy at all, however I did give her a lot of attention. Answering quickly 90% of the time and almost always reaching out first
@TheAmazingShow4 жыл бұрын
mabXgod Texting is only used to set up dates (if you're not in a relationship already and even then it can ruin attraction). If you do it too much and it leads nowhere, people lose interest. Stay in no contact no matter what. If she'll be interested again, she'll reach out. When she reaches out, few replies max and invite her to your place to hangout in the evening. Women usually do most of the chasing, if they don't, they're obviously just not that interested. I hope this helps. Definitely watch more videos on the subject, don't just take my words for it. I'm not a professional...

I dont know if someone will read this or not. But i swear a break up is the thoughest thing i ever experienced. Sometimes i cant breath, get panic attacks my head is feeling like it will explode. Everybody says time will help you to get back. But the sad part is, that time is now going so slow, while you watching on your phone if the person text you or not. You kinda in hell right now. You see no Colors just the darkness of the hell on earth. The Person take the last Light with you and now you are alone. I wish to everybody that they never have to suffer with a break up.

Hi Craig, I was wondering if you could ever do a video on short term relationships and if there’s still hope for them to come back in time? I’m in that situation rn after an intense relationship that was a lil over 2 months and even became boyfriend and girlfriend at the very end of it before she broke it off. Obviously every situation is different with my ex being an avoidant, someone who hasn’t dated someone seriously or had a boyfriend in over 4 years until she met me, and is very independent, even though she was really into me and I was into her. It was generally a healthy and genuine relationship until the last weekend we hung out. Went no contact right away and it’s been a lil over a month now but if you could do a video in general over short term relationships I would really appreciate it and would like to get your perspective on it??

My situation began as a result of isolation with covid 19. I was dealing with unemployment issues as well, I went off on boyfriend for not communicating much, he made me feel like I didn't matter. He was surrounded by people, I was by myself. I realize it was a moment of anxiety that caused me to go off on him. I realize he was slowly pulling away, I heard more from my friends than from him. I emailed him and apologized for my behavior and explained what went wrong, it was the lack of communication, instead, he said it's not going to work out. I respect his decision, I'm not going to beg someone who didn't see my worth. It's been two weeks, I hope the pain gets better. He chose to break up, when I saw him last, I sensed coldness and he hugged me for the last time, so there's no grudge between us.

I'm quite sure "No Contact" without blocking would work with a more regular person. But if it's a narcissistic person that repeatedly blocks you it's a different story. At some point a line has to be drawn and a boundary has to be set to stop the cycle of emotional abuse and disrespect. The type of "No Contact" needed is based upon the type of person you are dealing with.

I wish I would’ve found this channel right after my breakup, the first few days after my breakup I did the usual begging and pleading to the point my ex blocked me everywhere except instagram (which is strange bc I also messaged him on there, it’s like he wanted atleast one way to still keep tabs). but I’m on week 2 now and ever since I found this channel I completely stopped the begging, also to save some of my dignity lol. I could’ve saved so much time though if I found this channel earlier 🙃

I'm the one who is reaching out. I kept texting but there was no response (we are not friends on fb anymore). I even asked her friends to implore her to come back, and there was no response too. Maybe I should give her some time to think about our relationship. I'll wait. It's been 2 months, though. I was depressed, upset and even suicidal. But I'm more positive now. I'll wait for her anyway, miss u

Would no contact work in my case : he broke up with me a month ago after arguing a lot for 2 years (4 yrs realtionship and engaged), it was after a big argument about money. I would often say " maybe we should break up" out of anger, but this time he replied with "yes we should"... we cried a lot but couldn t go no contact right away because but i had to find a place of my own so it delayed the process. I still made myself as scarce as possible meanwhile and he would attempt to comfort me through the door when he heard me cry but i wouldn t let him because it hurt and i told him i didn t want to be friends while he figured it out. He wanted an indefinite break and for me to wait until he figured out if he still loved me pretending to need some alone time he reassured me wasn t to date around... The thing is i had my doubt a woman was involved, and although i m not proud of it, i went through his phone while he was in the shower. He had been messaging an older divorced woman from his circle of friends he told me not to worry about... he informed her he was single the VERY NEXT DAY we had broken up. Confused and very hurt, i held my tongue and arranged for my current living situation. Only on the day i left (he was at work) he kept texting to know how it was going, 1. I was busy, 2. I couldn t emotionally handle this and focus on moving my stuff so i didn t reply. He messaged my best friend " take care of her she doesn t wanna talk but i care about her". I had a breakdown, i was physically and emotionally exhausted. I wrote him a long text in which i told him knowing about the other woman, wondering if he had been unfaithful but being sure he had been at least emotionally, wishing well and asking not to contact me again. Tbh i m more hurt because of the lies (months ago he would reassure me she was no threat but would call her from time to time and be shady) than the possible physical intimacy between them... so is no contact still an option for me ? I can't help but feel guilty still ( i m very jealous and insecure and wonder if i pushed him to act like that) ... but i know i never lied to him... what do i do ? I still love him, i can overlook the betrayal, not the lies... i feel destroyed

I just did a skype coaching with Craig and I have another to add to the list! Don't post on social media how you're changing or talk about personal growth! Be authentic and live your life. Or, better yet, don't post anything at all. Work on yourself in secret. Don't play your hand. I did and I got blocked.
@moonie90002 жыл бұрын
Got to be honest, the handwritten letter did work for me once. That said, I also refused to reach out after that. So it could have been a bit of both that worked, but she (an avoidant) specifically mentioned that the letter broke her heart and that's why she sent me a video back.

My ex suddenly left after we got engaged and turned into a very angry person. He used to be super calm. At the breakup he got super angry about minor stuff from the beginning of the relationship. He came back after 11 months and sleeping with a ton of women. He kept saying he found the right girl and then would leave her after a few weeks and find another. I pursued him the whole time though. Turns out he was abused as a child and I think he has that C PTSD which is caused from childhood trauma. He came back fully and was ready to do anything to be together and started paying for our wedding to show his commitment, then 3 months later when his parents left right before his birthday he triggered into another rage and left me again. He clearly pulls away from me when his childhood trust issues are triggered. This time I'm not going to chase again. He keeps thinking he needs to find the right woman and doesn't need therapy. He's already dating someone else and once again swears she's the one.

Ellie Elvira Berzina Sorry to hear you're going through a breakup. If I would be in your shoes, when he reaches out I would be polite as you said and I would let him do the repairing. Basically I would always just reciprocate the level of interest. But I'm not the professional so do watch more videos of Craig talking about after they reach out. It's kinda hard to find them sometimes, because the titles usually don't say anything in connection with that, but I've watched a few in the past ☺️

Hi Craig/Margaret. Love you channel. My ex messaged me on and off for a couple of months before cancelling a meet up and then ultimately blocking me on all social media in weeks after as she was embarking on a new relationship. She unblocked me and messaged me with a generic birthday message a couple of months later but I made the 'mistake' of not replying after I decided it was more important for me to focus on my personal growth (mental or physical illnesses) than get attached to probable breadcrumbs and fall back to my weak self. That message was 6 months ago and now I feel a lot more centred I wonder what life would be like if I had replied. I imagine nothing would have changed and that she was just being 'nice' or wanting attention, but I can't be sure. I have no idea how she is, what she's doing or if she's still with this guy as I haven't looked in months. I'd be interested to hear a video on what, if anything, you can do if you made this decision for yourself and later have the 'what if' feeling and know if the message came again you'd act different due to a stable mental state. Does anyone have any thoughts on this sort of thing? I agree we should never ignore an ex you're still interested in, but I haven't seen anything about what to do if you did this for the good of yourself.
@davidwoodling40704 жыл бұрын
@Gab arc - thank you for your insight :) Unfortunately I don't think that was the case. At the time I knew she was still seeing another guy, and I know she still was 2 months after that. It's been 4 months since I last saw anything about her now. I of course was to message her but not sure NC counts in my situation. I'll see if anyone else has any ideas. Thank you Gab arc

I would reach out. At least that way you wont regret not reaching out. Even if its been months. You never know where she is now and what her mindset is. The important thing is to not have too much expectations when replying after so long. :)

This just made me feel so much better today. Especially the part where you say that it's not as bad as we think. Right at the beginning (3 months ago) I sent 2 messages saying that I missed him and that I'd move to live with him. He's reached out a few times (to talk about the virus and lockdown). I replied but i don't want to spend lots of time sending messages and he doesn't want to talk. So now I've been doing No Contact and he's not reaching out. Working on myself, doing the workbooks and I can't wait for my Skype call with Margaret.

First if all thank you for sharing your personal past relationship with everyone, You rely make allot of since, one video you posted, helped me in ways I didn't know was okay to do. You said, think that person will come back, in the meantime work on yourself. I am pretty sure this is over, 7 months I haven't heard from from him, constantly think about him daily. First of all, If I broke up with him, went out , played around, I wouldn't care a bit about him. Unfortunately, I am the dumpee.. Your advise saying think they might come back, is the best advise when the dumpee gets so upset, overwhelmed wondering what he's doing , who's he seeing, etc, that's me. I used your wisdom to think he's possibly coming back.This took me out of depression, all the stuff I was dwelling about, wasting all those months. The Win/Win , it's so much better than feeling hopeless, I know he not coming back but thinking that way, saved me. I am growing from this and this will help if I get in another relationship . Thank you

I wrote a letter for my ex after she had gotten back from visiting relatives in a different country (on bad terms) - we broke up whilst she was away and went pretty much no contact; I knew she would also be in quarantine when she came back because of C19. I wrote the letter to comfort her / part of an apology / to practice her language a bit, she said she appreciated it when we spoke for the first time in many weeks after she read it, and let me back into her life afterwards. I don't think it is a bad idea if you are doing it for the right reasons; but can see why it would come across as desperate during a period of no contact.

Could you do a video on what to do when you get an indirect direct approach from a long distance ex? I feel like a lot of people are in this situation and they can't casually ask them to come over, what would you do instead? I think you should just ask how they are and see where it goes. If they contact you more often you can try and build an emotional connection again with them leading the beginning phases as you can't come on too strong.

Dear Mr. Craig we were together for 1 year i am 26 and he is 24. Once the quarantine started, i notice a different behaviour. We have stayed together for 2 weeks and after that he went to his parents to stay and i went to mine. We talked every day, he said he missed me d wanted to come amd see me and all these things someone in love says. He did come on Wednesday, after a week a d a half apart, he told me he loves what we have a d how happy he is. I have asked him if he is missing his single life, he told me, after the quarantine yes but didn't want to break up. On Thursday morning though he told me he needed to be alone but at the same time he was crying saying he loves me. He even followed me when i was leaving from the apartment crying saying i love you but needs to be alone, " it has nothing to do with you its me" he said. "I need to be alone i do not know what comes next but we need to broke up". That's it....and now i do not know what is going on and i really want him back..

What If you don't know what changes to make because. My gf broke up with me a few days ago. I gave her everything. I treated her amazing. We never argued, her family and friends loved me. And we would go to raves together. Every thing was good but she called me and said it's not working out it's not me it was her. I said I did everything for you. She said i know you went above and beyond for me. She was like I never asked for all that. I went in to shock. Not eating, crying, not knowing what to do or where to go. All the symptoms you know
