But this is just one of MANY great tracks from Pete and the boys.

Btw you near the end saying those guitars are huge, the bass is part of them!! Peter had a unique technique almost like lemmy from motorhead! He has insane distortion and chorus at the same time so he could just play power chords on bass, for example in the song I don't wanna be me he plays the same thing as the guitar basically power chords. It gives a huge and insane signature sound! He also had a prototype sustaniac on of his basses, wild stuff.

This was a treat for sure. Type-O is one of my all time faves. You're right on the mark with some of your observations. Pete cites their biggest influences as both Black Sabbath and The Beatles and they were no strangers to covering both bands. Kenny Hickey sings some backups on this track and the harmonies between he and Peter are nothing short of amazing. Kenny sings a lot more on later albums as well. Pete's playing style was also rather unorthodox partially because he was originally a guitarist. Great vid man.

Hey maan, I've been following your channel for a minute, and I have to say. Thanks! I'm not a bassist, but as a RHYTHM guitarist, I obsess over the rhythm section in bands, and wish I had been a drummer, and I find playing bass way more creatively fullfilling than guitar these days. Bass players get a bad rap (and it's usually cuz they're relegated to it for being the worst guitar player) so I guess I'm lucky when I get to say that every bassist I've ever played in a band with was the most well rounded musician in any of those bands, and I appreciate your insight into what really is moving these songs along, and that's the bass and drums! CHEERS! And 5, to your list of Peter Steele facts, he had a third arm between his legs and very famously posed for a Playgirl centerfold back in the 90s, something you just can't un-see)

You should check out the live version of Anesthesia. Peter syarts off doing an epic bass solo. Made my laptop shake and vibrate, lol.

I think you'd enjoy The Warning. Bassist Alejandra Villareal was a child prodigy who's become a young adult virtuoso right before our eyes over the past decade. "Dust to Dust" Live at Lunario CDMX is a good place to start.

The chorus and higher vocals are Lenny Hickey, the guitar player. This song is one of their first songs where they duet, and they've done it for every album since

Their covers of Seals and Crofts Summer Breeze and Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl are not to be missed.

Their "October Rust" album is awesome. You should give it a listen, as well.

I appreciate you doing this song. If you wanna hear probably the best bass intro/riff listen to be my druidess by them. Not nearly talked about enough.

I’ve been in the front row at small clubs many times for Type O. And he was quite literally a giant. He would be drinking a bottle of red wine that appeared the size of a regular beer bottle in his hand.

5:40 Type O does have a cover of Black Sabbath’s self titled song on the Nativity In Black cover album

I saw them over 20 years ago at the Webster Theater in Hartford,CT on a Thanksgiving Day weekend. THEY ROCKED. played the encore until 1 AM and brought the small house down.

First time I met this band was when they came out with their debut album. Peter was sitting down but stood up when I approached him. I struggled to speak because I had no idea this guy was so tall. And his fangs (shifted teeth from grinding in his sleep, pale blue eyes and long black hair really made me feel like he was a monster. But he was incredibly kind and had me sit with him until he played and talked. Great man. And he primarily used a boss chorus and boss overdrive for his unique sound that he had glued on his favorite settings.

i think a good song from their earlier album Slow, Deep, and Hard would be Gravitational Constant

I usually have pretty limited patience for “gothic” metal, since goth is a such a fundamentally post punk style. But I think these guys manage to pull the two together pretty well, albeit with tongue firmly in cheek.
