When will Alex get the recognition he deserves? Alex Skolnick is a damn legend.
@marcocasati69533 жыл бұрын
Well, I think he's a very well respected musician and he's had a very good career, he has solid technical chops, he has a very good sense of melody and he is also expressive and well balanced in his playing. I like his work with Testament the best, even though the boundaries of the genre didn't give him a whole lot of space, he made the most out of his solos and came out with some legendary licks. Nice work also on Savatage's HOR although I wish he didn't palm mute so much on his solo parts. One of my fave guitarists without a doubt.

Randy was 21 when he and Ozzy wrote this. He brought out the best in Ozzy. His solos are some of the greatest in the history of rock and roll. The synergy of classical and heavy metal will never be repeated. such a tragic loss for music, I am so glad his memory lives through these true musicians.

Alex is the greatest thrash metal guitarist out there. Such an amazing talent. Very soulful and expressive he makes every note count. Not only his work in Testament but his ventures into jazz and world music bring so much to thrash metal and helps to establish it as a virtuous genre of music.

As a hardcore Randy Rhoads fan, really means a lot to see Rudy Sarzo on stage honoring him, half a lifetime since his passing....How many can say they got to be on stage with Randy? I bet he was thinking about the old days when he was up there....
@ZakEdwardsOfficial4 жыл бұрын
I was here. Rudy was the heart of it all. Without him it would have fallen short. Alex is a respectful musician, so I enjoyed his performance, knowing he respects Randy's musicianship, even with showing some of his own abilities inside of this.
@danadams6477 Жыл бұрын
Ditto here. Rudy Sarzo is a stand up guy. He always speaks fondly and respectfully of his departed friend and bandmate Randy Rhoads. I was fortunate enough to see Rudy play with Ozzy in 1983 on the 'Diary of a Madman' tour. Brad Gillis finished out the tour playing guitar in Randy's place. In 2010 I saw and met Brad along with his fellow bandmates from Night Ranger. He played phenomenally during both concerts. I often wonder where Randy would be and what he would be doing had he not perished?
@mgdarenz7 жыл бұрын
This is the best Rhoads cover I have seen from these performances. Hands down. Skolnick was able to do a similar honorable job performing Criss Oliva's guitar parts during his brief stint in Savatage. Oliva was definitely in the same league as Randy Rhoads, and Skolnick too.
@malleryfaith85484 жыл бұрын
Hard to belive. This is completly stupid content. Bad Jazzy Crowley...
@hinjurock4 жыл бұрын
They're both great guitarists, but not in the same league as Randy - he was more unique and creative, and his riffs and solos were more memorable and well-composed. Randy was also an innovator who had complete mastery over his instrument, much like Jimi Hendrix.

the song is relatively easy for alexthe guy's amazing and can also easily tackle evhs stuff. As a guitar player trust me it's alot harder playing alex's stuff.
@zzzhuh8 жыл бұрын
As mentioned... Alex is great. However, he does not have the memorable solos like Randy does. Sure, Testament is great. The legacy shows some of his best work, but the jazz influence makes him one of a kind. However, Randy has the classical side, plus Ozzy being the front man made that era the definitive point. I also play guitar.
@deadpool1021928 жыл бұрын
+zzzhuh I wasn't knocking on rhoads I was just saying from a technical aspect rhoads solos are far easier than anthing alex has ever done so I wasn't suprised alex could tackle the solo in such a cool way. Alex has also had 30+ years of being a musician I have no doubt rhoads would have gotten more technical and varied but unfortunately taken from us too young, but I do agree with what you're saying but I do think alex has provided many memorable solos and influenced many modern guitar players as rhoads has. Anyways cheers it's just so cool seeing these guys paying tribute to one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
