Back in September 2015, I drove over to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to visit Unity Cemetery and the mausoleum where he was laid to rest. You can't get inside, but you can look through the door, and he's just inside on the left. I was talking to him just like he used to talk to us through the camera. It was really hot and humid that day, and at one point, I said out loud that it was really hot and that I might need to cut my visit short. Right as soon as I said that, the wind changed direction and turned nice and cool. Needless to say, I believe he was with me that day on my visit.

Glad you liked the jazzy expressive piano music. The pianist, or one of them, was the music director for a summerstock theatre I acted and I wrote a children's show, Beema Zomp! for: Kearsarge Theatre, Warner, NH. He taught me to breathe, so to speak. During much of the year, he composed and improvised the Mt. Roger's piano accompaniment, much like keyboardists did for 'silent' movies.

Yet another fantastic video you presented. I was born in 1965, and watched Mr Rogers' Neighborhood (as well as the other PBS programming). Fred Rogers was a very kind, caring, and wise man. His manner was very positive and uplifting. He was also an incredible gentleman. His teachings were wonderful things - which are important in the hustle-bustle (and crankiness) of today's society. It was interesting seeing the sets as they were built, but the ending of your video was incredible. Although I have seen his Golden Globe award speech before, I was suddenly drawn in as if he was speaking at that moment, listened and followed what he said to the audience. My thoughts went directly to my mom (living) , and especially my dad who left this world 4 years ago (5/25/2014). It was at the point where he said (to paraphrase) "...those people that you were thinking about are proud of you for who you are and what you became..." It was at that point where my emotions flooded me, and "saw" my dad smiling at me. Thank You again for presenting this video and including his speech. This video couldn't have been better any other way. Bravo.

I dunno, I think his messages about everyone being special and such are timeless. I watched some episodes more recently, and besides some outdated tech (VHS, for example) the show is still relevant. Maybe no one today can "fill his shoes," so to speak, but I am one of those ones who thinks they should be re-run. (Yes, I know this comment is old. Thought I'd respond anyway) :)

This is such a neat tour of the set! And a beautiful tribute; if anyone truly earned a Lifetime Achievement Award, it was Fred Rogers. When the 'Won't You Be My Neighbor?' documentary came out in 2018, my mother and I were so moved when we learned about the efforts Mr. Rogers made for PBS funding and how much he advocated for children's programming. I was born in '71, and was among that first generation of little ones to love the show. My mom often watched it with me. :)

Thinking back to when I watched Mr. Rogers in the 70's reminds me of when life was so much simpler and carefree as a child. I miss those days of Lady Aberlin, Mr. Owl and The Trolley. This is an exceptional video. Job well done!

Thanks so much for sharing this! I live in Texas now but I grew up in northern West Virginia, not far from Pittsburgh, and didn't even know this existed. I'll definitely be visiting the next time I'm up that way!

it's crazy. I never knew he died so long ago because I grew up watching him on tv with reruns so when I heard he passed I thought it was more recent. he's truly been immortalized.

He made such a positive impact on such a large scale, even after his death.. Notice on KZbin in every video of him, the comments are so polite and respectful, where usually on YT things get pretty ugly. It's like no one wants to disrespect his legacy.
