Tricks For Using the New Chess Junk Item Display | how to place junk in your CAMP!

We can finally place junk in our camps like we've always dreamed of! In this video I'm going to show you a few tricks that will make using it easier and quicker, as well as show some examples of some of the great ways it's already being used by other builders! I will not be eating my pants in this video.

I love that chessboard. I've been playing around with it. My favorite thing so far is the shooting target box that is in the miscellaneous tab. I don't know why I'm excited about a cardboard box but I am.

one thing not many people bring up is if you put consumables like food specifically well disappear when the spoil meter goes down and return to your stash box as spoiled food, canned food and drinks will stay though

You can also use a small hill to stack boards and then blueprint just offset from eachother to get items closer together.

I’ve always wanted to know how I can merge with your junk! The only drawback I’m seeing with this is the amount of room we’re going to need in our stash boxes for all the junk now. I just wish the devs would start listening and give us lore friendly placeable junk instead of surfboards and xylophones and shit!

Thank you for the camp module tip. I had been trying to figure that out. You can also burn chess boards which makes getting them close together alot easier, you just have to get the flame trap at the right height.

Yes I’ve also found that burning or having someone destroy in pvp is especially good when merging lots of chessboards together and needing that precise placement as well. I used it for that Slocum’s joe breakfast combo 😂

im playing around using a couple of display boards to enhance the theme of the areas in my camp. mostly food in kitchens and on dining areas, or tools and oil on workbenches so far, but its adding quite a lot alread. just a can of oil and a wrench on an armour bench or a hammer on a weapons workbench adds so much. not to mention some sugar bombs and a couple of bowls set out on a kitchen table with a bottle of nuka next to them. these little vignettes that were really tough to make without display boards.

Hey man thanks for all the tips overtime. Started fo76 less than 2years ago. Watched the lightning and merge tuto from Nukaviolet but my brain never fully registered . Pretty much everything I know about camp building came from your channel. On one of your stream you said you used to pvp, it’d be nice to hear more on that. There this chanel I stumble accros a few weeks ago The Raggdoll Series. A trap, Roleplay, pvp channel. They’ve started a talkshow, it would be a nice opportunity to hear more of your pvp background and such. Also could be a cool way to get more tractions on each other ‘s channel. Thanks for the kind comment! Yeah pvp used to be a huge part of my gameplay, unfortunately the pvp community wasn't the most pleasant, and it has become so unbalanced that I just kind of gave up, unless it's with friends. I will have to check out the channel you mentioned though!

Okay okay okay, i have created an op method for this and im going to try to explain it here. Using your first blueprint, the floating chessboard and the duck, i hovered the floating chess board over a playing card and dropped it onto the card with just the tip of the card sticking out as a “handle”. When you drop the floating chessboard onto the card and blueprint the chess baord now on top of the card, the card and a duck, you can then place the duck, chessboard and card blueprint down and the card will be merged inside the chessboard, making the board and the card the same level plane as each other, and making the entire chessboard collision-less. AAAAND with a little bit of fidgeting, the cards will slide into eachother as well so its essentially a freeplace chessboard blueprint. Biggest downfall is the hit box for the card becomes very hard to grab and can really only be done in free cam with some practice. So they are hard to move once placed. Because of this, when i use the card chess board blueprint, i place it on the edge of a foundation so that the card is hanging off the edge so i can grab it. If you combine this trick with the “use a foundation to allow you to place rugs ontop of other objects” trick you can put a rug ontop of an item like a lamp, place as many of the freeplace chessboard blueprints you want for your scene on the rug, then drop merge the rug through the lamp, you can now put the lamp on a surface and the rug and chess boards will merge right into the surface. Did that make sense? Edit: sometimes the chessboard, card duck blueprint will glitch and tell you “needs support”. Exiting build mode and reentering should reset this. Sometimes i have to do it several times before it will place.

Junk items I place on chess boards and then drop merge eventually disappear. They’ll be perfect when I finish placing/drop merging the item is visible, but after 2-3 times loading the game and the items are gone - only the thin items like magazine, news paper etc. Are you finding any limits or issues like that?

The question is, how many flamingo units is this chessboard? It seems that all displays use A LOT of budget. If the chessboard follows this same pattern then decorating is still costly.. Or is it a small flamingo count?

I cannot, for the life of me, get the floor decor checkerboard stack to work. It puts the checkerboard on the floor and sinks the floor item into the ground every time. It's either been changed or I'm doing something wrong. :(

When i 1st started playin 76 i didnt understand why you couldnt place junk in your camp anyway. I played FO3 and exps. FO4 and new vegas. But 76 has sooo much potential for cool sh!t. ❤

Well the reason we can’t just dump our junk around like on 4 is that 1, other people could take it, 2 it would be super easy to lag out a server by dropping a heap of stuff in one spot, and 3, servers aren’t persistent, which means as soon as you hopped servers the junk wouldn’t come with you. This is why they added display cases to begin with, but then they never have done much with them for 5 years. Really excited about this bc they will also see how much we’re gonna use it and might give us even more options

You can build a total of 30 display cases, so if you have mannequins or nuka displays, or stein displays, or the big colonial museum displays, it counts towards the 30 :)

@@valeriekings3901 some of the corners can be shoved into each other, meaning they don’t really have hitboxes that extend to the corners. Try placing them a little closer to overlapping and see what happens
