It's great to see a building of this size with its several histories being accessible to the public. Good to know that it can earn (some of) its keep thanks to its dilapidation, hopefully to prevent it from further decline into being a structure at risk. We have an old Victorian asylum his our town, converted into rather smart apartments now, but its stairways and corridors retain the original tiling on the walls - enough give you a shiver now and again as you make your way around. In timescale it has had similarly varied usage but it began as a place to hide away problematic persons, whether the issues were of mental health, physical or even moral; many a young woman who had fallen pregnant outside of wedlock spent the rest of her days in that institution. An area of woodland in the grounds is marked as the site of the graves of over 1000 of the inmates, with some of them still remembered with regularly replaced fresh flowers.

I lived in the local area for over70 years and this is the first time I have ever viewed the Building from the inside. Thanks for the opportunity to do so.

Amazing.. Im from L6 and walked passed this building in the 60s, It was scary back then. Love your content. Just to note: Some of the children were buried in the gave yard at the bottom of the Anglian Cathedral... so sad.

That video brought back memories for me....🙂 I was a lift engineer at Park Hospital from 1988 until 1995. From memory, there were three or four lifts. 09.55...The kitchen lift...went from the kitchen to the dining room. This lift was fully refurbished in 1989. 27.02....one of the passenger/goods lifts with manual gates. I used to ride on top of this lift to examine the lift shaft. I could hear old women ( not ghosts) wailing from the wards. Very eery. 30.58....i remember attending a site meeting with the hospital engineers in the cinema room, i remember the glass window panels, where the specifications of the new kitchen lift were discussed. 32.32.....you can see the two brick lift shafts from the outside quadrangle. 34.10....the remnants of thr old dumbwaiter. Thr new kitchen lift was about 4 times the load size, so could transport more meals etc up from the kitchen to the dining hall. 34.30....the new kitchen lift that replaced the old dumbwaiter. I'm pretty sure that there is another passenger/goods lift that wasn't shown in this video, but i could be wrong. Thanks to James for allowing access...👍

It winds me up that this building isn't utilised, same goes for the old stone library near Everton. Always wondered what it was like inside. Cheers.

Although a truly magnificent looking building, i cant help but feel deeply disturbed by the likelihood of the mistreatment and abuse that the patients would have suffered. My sympathies go to any poor soul that may have been incarcerated there.

Well we are blind to the majority what the people were put through. God knows what's Gone on in these places an the responsible will be judged.

Fun fact: Liverpool's most haunted building is also Liverpool's least haunted building :)

Even just watching this there's an almost overwhelming feeling of sadness for the poor people that were put in these places. My own thoughts on the majority or these people were possessed. Not insane a minority the opposite.
