@@dominic5952 Yep. In our timeline, during the planned war that started in 1787, the russians managed to stomp the turks thanks to generals Suvorov and Potemkin living up to their legendary (although cruel) reputation, and they even managed to march all the way to Constantinople. However a Malaria plague crippled the austrian armies and fear of Prussia intervening made the allies finally sign for peace in 1791. Had things played out differently and preparations better, Suvorov may have very well been able to oust the turks from the Bosphorus forever and Anatolia turned into a russian province after a couple decades. The Austrians may have been eventually antagonized and the British changed their mind, fearing the increasing Russian power. However, after Napoleon rises to power in France, he may have been a great Russian ally, since in our timeline he only attacked Russia due to the latter siding with Britain against him. Some may say the brits and french may have intervened against the russians in 1787, but the latter were on the verge of their Revolution. The brits were apathetic towards the turks, besides not being in the best shape since they had lost several wars against the Americans and the French only five years earlier and was still recovering. Only Prussia was in shape to help the Ottomans, but had the Austrians been healthy, the odds of the former to beat theballies would not have been the best.

Russia the bad guys? I'd consider France and England the bad guys in Europe up until WW1. Russia was huge but for the most part didn't really do much to Europe. They had some conflicts but were mostly reliable to their allies and didn't fight that many great wars. Germany, well they fought mostly among themselves after Charlemagne died. France and (and even more so England) on the other hand pretty much intervened in every single war always supporting the party they could bully around the most after a victory.

They’re always the boogeyman
@khangnguyenthaiduy9129 Жыл бұрын
Russia is like the boogeyman or barbarians in Europe's eyes. The Holy Roman Empire viewed Russia as Mongolian bastards and the rest of Europe in 15-16th century did not see Russia as a European nation but some barbaric land of the East. To them at the time, Poland and Hungary were Eastern Europe (and a dominant power of the East). That however, changed after Russia conquered most of the East which made the entire Europe trembled and had to let Russia be in the "Europe club", not because Russia was "civilized" like them but out of fear. Russia is like the black sheep who wanted to get along with the white one (Europe) and was treated as an outcast.
@chingizzhylkybayev8575 Жыл бұрын
That's what all of them did. The fact that England and France were (which is arguable) more successful about it does not mean it wasn't the modus operandi for every other European power as well. Did you forget how Russia, Germany and Austria just sat down for a talk one day and decided Poland should stop existing? Which it later did?
@ihl0700677525 Жыл бұрын
Nope. Eastern Europe was just as chaotic. The rivalries between Russia, Poland (Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth), Sweden, and the Germans (HRE/Austria, Prussia) in that region was just as brutal as the shifting rivalries between France, England/Britain, Spain, and the Netherlands. The Western Europeans (i.e. Spain, Portugal, France, England and the Netherlands) simply had better access to world oceans, so their rivalries spanned the globe while the Central and Eastern Europeans stuck in their own region. Above all, there's no "good guy" in geopolitics. Everyone pursue their own interest. Maybe you think current US global hegemony is somewhat good, but I bet the Russians, the Chinese and the Iranians disagree.

I need help of creating a scenario of ‘what if the Aztecs beat the Spaniards from being conquered’ and how this would effect Europe. I saw one of the previous alternate history scenarios stating that money coming from the new world, to Spain, then to the Hapsburgs, would have a lower financial stability, and could mean Protestantism grows a larger presences in Europe, where France becomes Protestant and Sweden becomes a world power by absorbing the northern German states into the Swedish Empire, thus creating a United German Power. You guys have anymore ideas?
@crownpenguin91804 жыл бұрын
They take over inca?
@MonsieurDean4 жыл бұрын
The Aztecs were, in truth, a declining power, eventually all their neighbors would have turned against them, and there were at least two other powers in Central America at the time who could have seriously crippled them. In Europe, Spain was entering decline not long after it established it's empire. A lack of wealth does hamper the Hapsburg agenda, but over-all, Britain and France still assume leading colonial roles in the coming years. The key factor in the scenario you're proposing seems to be the impact such funding would have on the Reformation War, which would have been about a century prior to the War of Spanish Succession, and Spain's formal collapse as an empire. Mind you, I'm going off the top of my head here, but it would seem to me that the impact in France would be minimal, given that the French had already taken action measures against Protestantism, Sweden could emerge as a stronger force within Germany, but this is liking to fade in a century as it's navy is unable to compete with that of Britain and France, thus, unable to reap colonial gains as effectively. I'll look into this scenario soon.

Okay, that was really good and believable. I honestly hope that you make a sequel to this touching upon the Russo-Japanese War and WWI and the shift in alliances that you set up. That said, I think the US would be a wildcard with a slight tendency to favor the British. If the gold-hunters had serious issues taking their findings back to the States, that raises the chance of there being an anti-Russian sentiment in the years leading up to WWI. Also, depending on how Russia does in the R-J war could further spur distrust between the R and the States.
@Elsass_Bastard4 жыл бұрын
I'd say the US and Russia would tend to be friendly as a counter-balance to the British. Russia help the USA during Civil War. Also, keep in mind American imperial ambitions for Canada since 1812.
@jadesabrexiv4 жыл бұрын
@@Elsass_Bastard Relations would rely on the reaction to Russia's handling of the Yukon Gold Rush. If the Russians allowed the Americans to take the gold they found out of Alaska and into USA, relations would be good. If the Russians refused to allow the Americans to take the gold home...sour relations. Also, there could be some leftover issues from the Oregon Territory Claims back in the 1840's. Russia did hold a claim to the Oregon Territory but let it go. If there is some bad memories on either side from that, issues could arise.
@SuperDrake852 жыл бұрын
I see a potential for friction between US and Canadian prospectors in Alaska, maybe some skirmishes or whatever. Maybe Russian forces step in on the side of American prospectors in exchange for friendly relations with America (which sours relations between America and Britain). Friendlier relations with America would have also a game changer in the Russo-Japanese war, even if the US did not intervene as a belligerent, the US providing support and logistics and allowing Russian fleets to use port facilities in Hawaii or the Philippines would have been a tremendous advantage that Russia did not have in our timeline.
@jadesabrexiv2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperDrake85 IF the Russians worked as a Resource Generator and sold to the Americans they would be a firm ally contender. Depending on how much they scorn the Canadians, the relations between them and UK could be a MASSIVE game-changer and possibly drive UK and Germany closer. That possibility makes a lot of the future wars a deck of Shifters that could make the Twentieth Century a LOT different then what we got.

@alexllaquecava86192 жыл бұрын
You must understand that besides the ilnesess (idk if i spelled it write) the conquest of both Aztec and Inca Empire was a political matter. Spanish actually played good diplomacy and managed to turn the dominated peoples of central mexico against Aztecs. About the Inca Empire i can provide a better explanation as i am peruvian. Before Spanish came, there was a civil war that destroyed 1/3 of the entire quechua military force (quechua is the ethnic name, Inca is the tittle, like "Tzar" in Russia) which left the empire with only 80 000 men. After the death of Atahualpa the last true Inca, the military of the empire where left in hands of his three friends and generals: Chalcuchima in Jauja (centre of Peru), Quisquis in Cuzco and Rumiñahui in Quito (second largest city of the empire in Ecuador). While the north of the empire was very peacfuly, near the core there were many warrior people (like the chancas) that agreed to ally spain. That gave Spain a 60 000 battlefroce. Despide being more in numbers, the generals were pride and also wanted the throne for them so they didn't cooperate with eachtoher and lost many battles. Something that it isn't discussed in the european history is the HUGE battles that happened during the fall of the Inca Empire. For example, after Atahualpa, his succesor Manco Inca managed to reunite a force among 40 000 - 100 000 men and siege Cuzco to retake the capital but ultimately failed against Spain who had a 30 000 military force mostly composed by native people. The Incas even managed to siege Lima, the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru with a force of exactly 40 000 men against 30 000 spanish forces but at the end 20 000 spanish reinforcemets came from behind and destroyed the last remains of the inca military army. I think the only difference that would've happened if the natives had better immunity, at least in Peru, would be that the battles probably would be more gigantic as there would be more population and man power.

@wojciechkowalski80614 жыл бұрын
If by united you mean no dynastic union: While they would propably still cooperate to eliminate the threat of Teutonic Order, the result would propably lead to more western-oriented Poland and eastern-oriented Lithuania, and cultures of both countries would develop radically different than in our timeline. We could never see many unique parts of the culture, law or government of the PLC. Poland would propably become more involved in the German affairs (alternative candidate for king Jadwiga's hand was one of the german dukes or princes if I recall correctly) or reinforce bonds with Hungary, and without the multi-ethnical and multi-religious structure of the PLC, they would become an eager participant in the religious wars of the reformation period. Even Polish army would propably develop differently, with lesser focus on cavalry in comparison to PLC (goodbye Winged Hussars :( ). Lithuania would propably compete with Muscovy for the Ruthenian lands and try to secure the modern-day Baltic countries. Both nations would propably compete for some border regions, but those conflicts would propably be quite rare due to mostly relative poor development of said regions, and try to partition the Teutonic state between themselves. I could also see the modern-day Romania becoming a three-way playground for Poland, GDL and Ottomans (with result depending on alliances).

If that happened France would invade the American Southwest via Mexico to assist the Confederacy in that theater and to the British invasion of the North the Union would send troops to attack Canada making the Union fight a three front war basically this scenario is just Harry Turtledove's Southern Victory and in which the South wins the civil war with help from Britain and France leading to an independent Confederacy. In this scenario since there's basically no United States the France continue their support of the Second Mexican Empire and Juarez's war against the Imperial Mexican froces is over with the defeat of the Republicans lead by Juarez

How would WW2 look if Norway had never split from the Union of Sweden-Norway?? 🇸🇪 🇳🇴
@givemeyoureggs4564 жыл бұрын
@DuckDuckPlay Well the only reason why Norway was invaded is to secure access to Sweden so unless the Allies want to have another country against it probably not much
@TheSwedishHistorian3 жыл бұрын
No Norway invasion. Also I would expect more support and volunteers from the region to go to Finland in their fight against the soviets so I reckon Finland might lose less land. Alternatively, Finland becomes backed up from a less neutral Swedo-Norway and wins or never gets invaded.

One of the many problems with alternate history videos is that they draw on concepts of our own time. For example, in the video the narrator talks about "Russia catching up with the West" ─ there was no notion of "the West" at the time. It's largely a XXth century concept.

How do you all think the the Russo-Japanese war would have gone in the timeline?
@Gabsboy1233 жыл бұрын
The Cold War would have started 50 years earlier pitting Russia against Great Britain, with the other great powers assuming a secondary role. With gold and oil being discovered in Alaska, Russia would be more incentivized to build up infrastructure there, encourage more immigration there, and most importantly build up a navy there. Russia would fare a lot better in the war against Japan than in our timeline; the Alaskan fleet would hold off the Japanese Navy and buy time for the Black Sea and Mediterranean fleets to sail a shorter route to the Far East and win the war. Russia would annex Manchuria and Korea and Japan's imperial ambitions would be over before it even started.
