These look like Cooke S4’s with the contrast and depth. It even has that pop. It seems too good to be true

MFT is such an affordable way to shoot video between affordable lenses and cameras from ZCAM, BMD, and Panasonic.

with regards to the T value on exposure in cinema- would using the waveforms be more reliable?
@ForsgardPeter3 жыл бұрын
Not sure since the exposure is measured from the sensor anyways. It makes it consistant when you change lenses.

Coming here straight from the Red35 video 😁 I got a couple of Meike T2.2 cine lenses for MFT and they're awesome, but T1 sounds pretty awesome. Do you have any comment on how they would compare?
@ForsgardPeter3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I have not tested these side by side.

Please excuse my ignorance. Is there a crop factor when using these lenses, being that they are MFT?
@ForsgardPeter3 жыл бұрын
Yes there is. The 25mm has about the same field of view as a 500 in a 35mm (FF) camera. The 35m has about the same as a 70mm.
@flyingfox20052 жыл бұрын
Forget the so called "crop factor" and simply change the lens you use for a specific angle of view. So with these lenses 25mm lens on MFT is simply your standard lens (equivalent of a 35mm on S35 / APSc or 50mm on FF / 135).

After I was very satisfied with the Mitakon 17mm/f0.95, I was looking for something like it at 35mm for close-up shots. I tried one from another Chinese brand, which was quite cheap, but not good enough. But I learned from this, that 35mm f1.2 is difficult to focus in portraits if the talent isn't bound very tightly... Almost impossible in videos, if I don't have someone for continuous focus pulling. So now I use the Sigma 30mm/f1.4 and C-AF with face detection, which works perfectly with my E-M1 II (fw 3.3).
@ForsgardPeter3 жыл бұрын
I know that in many cases if you have a face in the frame the Face priority AF works much better. It is a lot more convinient.

Peter, i have omd em1 mark-1 (she is really old and sometimes duing problems) and using it with older 12-60 from olympus. also i have 40-200 and fisheye 7mm, 50mm f2 all them from olympus, and i using them with convetor. would it be wise to buy omd em5 mark 3 the replace my old em1?
@ForsgardPeter3 жыл бұрын
It would be an upgrade. So if you feel that you need it then go ahead.
@25palex3 жыл бұрын
@@ForsgardPeter is that upgrade is big? Or should i buy em1 mark2. The mark3 is to expensive
@TerenceKearns2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review. By all reports, if you stop down the Mitakon lenses just a tad, it sharpens right up and gets rid of that halation glow (softness). But film makers go to great lengths to add halation back in post. Also they spend tonnes of money buying pro mist filters. For practical film guys like me, I just see wide open as a cheap way to get a more cinematic look. If I want clarity I stop it down to equiv of f/2. I'm guesssing T1.0 is the equiv of f/0.95. Certainly buying a 3 lens kit like this is cheaper than buying half a Canon RF lens. Thats why I'm keeping my G9. Maybe I will buy the V-log L firmware upgrade. Thats about it. I'd rather spend the money on glass, lighting and rigging. Because of lenses like this, micro four thirds has a long life.

Very interesting video, Peter. I am astounded at the optical quality, especially considering the price. A good quality super-fast T1.0 lens 15 years ago would have been Earth shattering - and require a second mortgage! - and it still is a absolutely amazing deal. I hope you'll show us, time permitting, some more of your work with these lenses, assuming you'll buy them.

I might buy them in the near future. They have a good deal on 17mm, 25mm and 35mm as bundle.

Especially in the last image with t/2.8 and f/2.8 the mitacon was much more brighter in mid light areas. Given an almost identical lightning situation the m.zuiko seems to have a very much bigger t-stop number!?
