As a expat Brit working in North American telly I can tell you it drives me mad how people in the UK whine about the BBC. It is the best in the world at what it does, and the price it charges for all the services is microscopic. This is a brilliant tribute to the best, THE BEST, most inclusive and wide ranging broadcaster in the world. Well done Mitch and everyone involved in writing, shooting and producing this really beautiful piece!

After living in a foriegn country for the last 4 months, I have realised just how proud of the BBC I am. I met many people who said they use the BBC as their main news website, also, traveling on Emirates, you will notice the news headline on their airplanes are provided by the BBC. I have realised, if nothing else, the UK has some of the best media in the world, but, I realised this a long time ago, we should all be proud of the BBC!

Every time I've heard a Murdoch newspaper, a Scottish nationalist, a far-lefty or any irate right-wing commentator complain about the BBC and accuse it of being biased, I give this song a listen to.
@alexpotts65206 жыл бұрын
I love how, depending on which critic you listen to, it's supposed to simultaneously be a metropolitan liberal purveyor of cultural Marxism and a government mouthpiece for a failing neoliberal status quo. Of course it is neither. It really is the best thing about Britain. Better even than the NHS in my opinion, because whereas the NHS is fundamentally limited to Britain, the BBC's output travels all round the world. I heard the World Service recently started broadcasting in North Korea, fighting back against the world's most entrenched propaganda machine, reporting the truth to those from whom the truth is hidden. It is an incredible gift to Britain and the world.
@monkeymox25445 жыл бұрын
@Cian McCabe It criticises the government all the time, what planet are you living on? I have to admit, I think the quality of the BBC's news broadcasting has diminished a bit, but its still up there with the best of them. I mean, the kind of people who complain about BBC News are usually the kind of people who get their news from The Sun, an objectively biased and badly researched paper.

The fact that you made this video, that it's been shared so much and stirring so much feeling- makes me dam proud to be British. We Brits know what is important. The BBC provides so so much, not just entertainment but contributes hugely in the field of politics/freedom/education etc etc. The whole world has heard of the BBC, half of it tunes in to the BBC to know what is going on.
