@@sami5614 seriously why couldn't people move on from that crap. It is because that stigma we haven't had any animated projects centering around the green lanterns for a long time. Before that shitshow, dc put a lot of effort in their animated movies to bring more spotlight to the lantern corps. Even showing the backstories of the non human lanterns which shows the scale and potential of lanterns.

Not sure if that would be possible within the universe's rules. Red Lanterns barf up all their blood when they join, after that only the ring is keeping them alive. If he took it off for more than a few moments he would die. But, ya know. Fuck that noise, I wanna se that too.

@@GaleHUN The GL Animated Universe took liberties with the comic book rules for Red Lanterns. Razer's ring ran out of power and was removed several different times. His character arc was really enjoyable though, seeing him overcome his hatred and being filled with hope again.

@@GaleHUN Not true, while removing a Red Lantern Ring will indeed kill the User, doing that is next to impossible in the first place due to the fail-safes in the Ring itself. Furthermore, if a Red Lantern has their Ring replaced then that'll disallow any repercussions for disconnection with The Butcher and vice versa, as is the case with Guy Gardner. Even having being disconnected from The Butcher other times has shown to not mean immediate death, since at one point it leaves Atrocitus yet The Butcher doesn't claim him.

In the show, Hal takes Razer's ring off in the second episode, Razer spends almost the entire third episode without his ring, there's an episode where all of their rings lose power, and he's still alive. Atrocitus also had his ring removed after Hal defeated him in Oa, and again when he's defeated in Zamaron. They also take off Zox's ring in some episode. Red Lanterns can survive without their ring in the show. Besides, in the comics, blue rings are the "antidote" for the removal of a red ring, I think. So even by the comics' logic, it would be possible for Razer to become a Blue Lantern.

I think dc and marvel have a hard on for cancelling great recent animated shows. Literally every good superhero show in the last 10 years has been cancelled early. from young justice, this, the good spidemans, that batman show, and others

Agreed, as a Child when it aired. I loved it, would sit down and watch it. It was possibly my first real interaction with DC. Ofcourse I knew about Super Man, but he wasnt my kind of hero and I never really got Young Justice at that age. I loved GL and the Blue Lanterns, rewatching it, I remembered all the episodes I saw as a kid and it almost felt like I watched the entire series then when it aired. With that said, GL is my favorite Branch of DC because of this show and I love the Blue Lanterns because of it too.

If I were to write a second season, I'd have Sinestro join the main cast, but for only one reason that I'll talk about later. It'd be inspired by the animated film, First Flight. The first half of the series would focus on the yellow lanterns which Sinestro finding in secret, until he says 'screw it' and going full yellow before attacking Oa. The second half will focus on the Blackest Night. The black lanterns and Nekkron serving the same role as the Anti-Moniter in season one. Along the way, we'd meet new faces like the indigo tribe, have a crossover with Superman and Adam Strange, bump into familiar faces with bigger roles this time like Tomar-Re and Larfleeze. We'd have Razor as a blue lantern, etc.

Tbh, I thought the show was gonna be trash but it was surprisingly amazing. It looks and feels a lot like clone wars because of the space setting and animation and it really expanded a lot on the green lantern mythos.

Hal Jordan is my favorite Superhero, and this show was an awesome experience for me. The Green Lanterns have struggled in comics and other mediums, but this show was able to take the best of what came before, and add to it going forward. Love this show, and wish we could have more seasons to explore Sinestro and his Corps, John Stewart and other Lanterns, and other stories of the GL mythology.

Honestly I think the next season was going to focus on the Sinestro core and we had a LOT of hints that they were planning to go into the Blackest Night once all the cores were established. It’s really too bad that the series was cancelled. Also... I’d actually say it’s 2 seasons as after the Red Lantern arc the show took a long break, and they seemed to play it as a “Season Finale” although I think now they are calling it just 1 season like they did with Justice League Unlimited Season 2-3 (where they now say it’s more of 2 seasons... not 3...)

The movie flopped but the Animated Series was magnificent and immortal, as usual DC animation takes the best storylines from the comics and knits them together. And in this story they deepened Kilowog, the Guardians and gave us what may be DC's most touching love story between Aya and Razr.

If you're looking for more comic book adaptations that stay close to the source materials and don't shy away from more complex themes I recommend Iron-Man TAS and Hulk TAS Out of the 90's Marvel cartoons I feel like these 2 are the most underrated. something I always liked about the show is that the main cast all have distinct speech patterns. Of course, that happens all the time in shows, making characters sound unique from each other is really useful when writing dialogue, but this is the first time I really noticed it. I'm willing to bet that you could just make up something that one of them would say, and without hearing their voice I'd be able to tell who you had in mind. Hal is snarky, but optimistic, with sarcasm acting as a vehicle for honesty. Kilowog has this military hardness to him. Razor talks in a very formal way, probably to keep his anger under control, but occasionally gets sarcastic, but unlike Hal, it's a form of aggression. And Aya is, well, robotic.

I wish we get a season 2 of this show since Josh Keaton both voiced Spider-Man in Spectacular Spider-Man & Green Lantern in GL:TAS. Both series where Josh Keaton voiced a Marvel & DC Character. Never got a new season after 1 or 2 seasons.

I'm late to this party... but I really appreciate your review. I will say, that in some ways, I'm glad this series had one season. And that is coming from someone who loved it. I say this because this series really functions as one long movie. It has an arc, a clear progression, and an ending. It was total eye candy, which is not a negative. But as you said, compelling storylines and characters that you truly invest in. With many surprises and misdirects along the way. I could go on and on, but suffice to say this series is an under-rated gem. Great review.

My guess is season 2 would have had sinestro as the villain for the first half and then the entirety of sinestro core for the second half. Especially because razer was going to get a blue ring. I forget if the indigo core was made in the comics yet but if it was, then it could be interesting.

Kilowog in the Justice League International of the late '90's might interest you. There, for a reason I can't quite remember, he's on Earth taking time off from being a Green Lantern. Initially he's there to hang out with JLI resident GL Guy Gardner, but decides to stick around using his technical intelligence to basically do for the JLI what Forge used to do for the X-Men. So here he's not the gruff drill seargent, more the visiting uncle who's idea of a holiday is to tinker with anything around the house that doesn't seem to be working as well as it could. Just discovered & enjoying your videos. :)

Wow, wow, someone really talks about this animated series in-depth. I really love this series. The most attractive part is when `Aya Happened`, oh man, really excited moment. I remember it was 2015 when I first saw it during my 1st-year at university.; it was an everyday routine to see the same episode again and again. I remember I kept telling my roommate to watch but they thought it's a kid series, LOLz. I really recommend others to watch this series. In fact, for me, I was first inspired in AI to watch Aya :P

Enough willpower to crack a planet and a heart so big and tender it Rivals that of Superman. 7:05 When Hal has his power ring turned off, he is depicted wearing his flight jacket... does he never take it off? He must atleast swap clothes to wash it. 😳 This is also shown for other adaptations of Green Lantern.

I like this searis. one thing the computer animation help was making the constructs the laterns use. the justice league mainly had blasts, bubbles, or just outline what ever object is being effected.

I love green lantern the animated series I watched it a few years ago and I just got back into it Aya is my favourite character

I wasn't keen on this show when it started, but after a few episodes it really grew on me, there are still a few things I'm not keen on, I really like it when they are closer to the source, but even these things grew on me due to good writing and I think they should have given it a chance. Outside of comics there really isn't much love for the characters within the GL Corps, either crammed into League/DC projects that don't have much time for them, or the three movies that are out there, the 2011 movie that rushed so much and what I think is similar in tone to every Marvel movie but nobody likes; we have the animated First Flight which is okay but just like the 2011 movie it kinda rushes things, and we also have Emerald Knights, which is a compilation of shorts which is probably the best one. There is also a game based on the 2011 movie which is quite fun, and has an average story, it's unsurprisingly better than the movie too.
