The first part of my 'How to Make' videos for the Flash!! Would love to hear your ideas for a Flash movie and the direction you would take it.

You clearly seem to understand this character, and I cannot wait to hear your ideas and just like you I would love to see a Barry Allen portrayed as honest, humble, down-to-earth but also relatable and like you said, someone who almost has a introverted "dad-like" personality. When writing the Flash you most definitely need to have clever writing behind it, in order to portray the humanity and power scale of character without causing too much plot holes. If I was writing a Flash film franchise, then I would include at least 4 films and depict Barry constantly growing more and more as a character, learning to take it slow in life but understand that its never too late to make a real change. 1st film: Barry learning to come to terms with his powers and haaving his first confrontation with The Rogue's led by Captain Cold (tease Reverse-Flash) 2nd film: Flash becoming more of a hero but less of a friend to others. We find Barry discovering more about his abilities and his origins as we see Barry meet Eobard Thawne in the future and learn more about him, but discover who he truly is, as the Reverse-Flash and the same man who killed his mother. We also get introduced to Wally West (setting up Kid Flash) 3rd Film: After Barry nearly dies from his encounter with Thawne, we see him become more distant with his friends and family as Thawne nearly broke Barry with how psychotic and heinous his actions were against him. We also see the arrival of Kid Flash and meet Jay Garrick's Flash, where all three members of the Flash family team up to defeat Gorilla Grodd. Barry also becomes a father with Iris. 4th Film: Barry finally becomes a stable, balanced person and accepts his fate, but this will be the return of Thawne and this will be the final battle between Reverse-Flash and the entire Flash family, concluding Barry's arc in the entire quad-trilogy. This is just my own rough draft and although it does need some work, I am very much pleased with it. What do you think?

@@milkiassamuel780 That's some very good ideas, specially the fact you used Thawne in the second film rather than third like some people would done. This could give the Flash trilogy a formula similar to the Star Wars trilogy, with the second movie showing the darkest hour of the hero, he dealing with his biggest defeat. In fact, here's a suggestion: Since Thawne (in most versions of his origin) was a Flash fan who went crazy and became a villain, you could use Barry fight against him as the factor that inspire Barry, in the third movie, to become a mentor for Wally, wanting to prevent the kid from falling into the dark path like Thawne.

THIS! the amount of times I’ve said to my friends that the comics and media both reprogrammed Barry into being an essential blonde Wally, has been more than 100 times. It always makes me feel that if Barry wasn’t a good character pre crisis, then they could’ve at least tried to find things about him that make him somewhat likable and improve on them; rather than just making him Wally but blonde.

Exactly. A channel I watch called infinity comics made a great video about it. I watched it back when I didn't get the Barry hate, even though I grew up with Wally in the DCAU. While watching the video, I realized that DC had brainwashed me into liking Barry by making him Wally. Then they tried to bury Wally in recent years. They erased him with a separate character with the same name, then Heroes in Crisis happened. That's the biggest tragedy, not that Barry has been "Wallywashed," but that Wally has been burried

@@1992holycrap in Young Justice, they clearly knew the difference between Barry and Wally. Even though Wally was still Kid flash at the time, the writers knew how Barry’s personality worked and how it differed from Wally’s. Barry says “Back in a Flash!” way too often, he causes them to be late for Independence Day, and we actually get to see his home life with Iris and Jay. Even though he wasn’t in the show that much, We got to see who Barry was, same thing goes for JL: New Frontier.

One difference between Barry and Wally was that Barry was more serious about being a superhero. Wally had more fun with it. Barry saw being a superhero as a responsibility, Wally saw it like being a celebrity or a rockstar. Which is why Barry is faster but he doesn’t discover all the speed force abilities that wally does. Wally has fun with it so he opens his mind more. Barry was more straight forward.

In the flash war story Barry said the reason is because he'd get lost in the science of the speedforce while Wally embraces he enjoys the speed. Barry would rather find a scientific solution to his problems than push himself.

I'd literally just recast Ezra for Grant Gustin, he's the Flash we know and love, I know, in the CW there were many bad things. Here's the thing, Grant didn't do those things, the writer made him. Same thing with CGI artists, he was told to do something, did it well, but they messed up. It's the team he's working with and just making a timeline change or something could make it believable that Grant could walk in. It'd be a mini crisis on Barry.

I totally agree with you on practically everything that you said... except when you said that Ezra Miller’s Barry is basically Wally. He definitely isn’t Wally. I know that by that you mean that he’s a comedic relief character, but that doesn’t make him Wally. He honestly feels like a combination of Wally, Barry and Bart. He’s an introverted nerd like Barry, he’s a funny guy who quips and makes jokes like Wally, and he’s a hyperactive blabbermouth like Bart. This results in him being way too awkward.

Except Wally isn't super quippy either. He was mainly like that in the DCAU's Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. The comics he starred in had moments of levity, but he used his brain and he most certainly wasn't a clown the whole time.

It really baffles me sometimes how people like you can write these iconic heroes better than professional writers and directors for a multimillion dollar film studio. The Flash does deserve better and I do like your idea that at the end if the film the entire timeline would be reset to recast a new actor (for the better). I am really looking forward to your Flash film video and thanks to you, you have given me a whole new perspective on the Barry Allen's Flash. Kinda like what everyone else said, some of the people getting involved aren't actually fans of the source material. They are just trying to pump out a money making film, not necessarily a good story. The Marvel films did well (especially in the beginning) because the people writing and producing the films worked for the same company making the comics. They actually cared about the characters.

how rare a Barry Allen fan who know that new 52 Barry is not the same as pre crisis i like that. In my personal opinion i always found that the best showcase of Barry is when he is with Hal Jordan or Olliver Queen has we see his others side of himself. I love how is his connected to the emotional spectrum thanks to his strong sense of justice and hope inside of him. Wally might be faster more powerful and have all the cool stuff but Barry was the first in my eyes. Him and Hal Jordan are two of my favorite character in comic. He his complete his entire story was done a long time ago and this finally get over by the simple fact of him finally getting over Reverse Flash and resetting him for good.

We saw this during the GL run where Hal start thinking about killing villains instead of just arresting them leading into Barry explaining his point of view and what being hero like them his. While Olliver try push Hal to rebel more toward his corp and him being one of his best friends. Barry basically represent hope and how to better yourself something i always loved about him.

Because of the nature of his powers, the Flash has had a very complicated series of storylines many of which won't translate well into a live-action film. One of the best stories, Flashpoint, is already being made into a movie in the DC Animated Universe. For a live-action film, I would prefer something that sits well with the current DC movie universe that already has Superman and Green Lantern in them. It has to be an origin story, of course, with Barry Allen as the only speedster in the movie which has a straightforward timeline, no jumping back and forth at least in the first movie.

The Flash reversing time in ZSJL didn’t come out of nowhere. We saw it happen earlier in the movie and he explained what would happen then he reversed time to get the timing right. The ‘Enter the Speed Force’ scene was him being saved from being wiped out, him reversing time on a larger scale, recreating with each step. It was setup previously and worked very well.

I liked, or at least appreciated Zack Snyder’s films more than most, but I 100% agree that the Speed Force sequence in the film was deux ex machina. And it would have been so easy to fix by showing WHY he never does it, and it would have made the moment so much more powerful. Just imagine if Barry tried to convince the others the first time he did it to wake up the box that he couldn’t because the closer he got to the speed of light, the harder it is to slow down, and he’s afraid if he hits it he’ll be lost to the speed force, and the others talk him into trying. Thus his actions at the end are a deliberate self-sacrifice, and he is saved from the speed force by touching the mother box, which acts as a grounding rod and pulls him back into the time stream or something like that.

That’s fine, until he does go faster than the speed of light as if knowing it will allow him to turn back the clock and save the day, and there are no apparent ill effects, so that foreboding was seemingly hollow.

The second time he revert time to save the entire justice league, the end credit show that it leads to the apocalyptic future where superman gone full rogue. It feels like the closer we get to The Flash movie, the less excited I get about it. Because it's not a Flash movie. Flash is not even the biggest selling point of the film. People are getting more excited about Batman and Supergirl, and yet it's still being marketed as a Flash movie! I like Ezra Miller fine in the role, but I agree, he doesn't feel like Barry Allen, nor does he make for good publicity. If anything, he's bad for business. I honestly do want this movie will be good. I never go into a movie wanting to hate it. I don't think I'm gonna like it, but I want the film to prove me wrong.

To be fair Wally also wasn't "the funny one" before Justice League. Flashpoint should not be the third of a trilogy its should be the tenth movie of a DC universe arc. I'm not a Flashpoint fan but even I know it's about way more then just Barry and needs way more then just two movies as build up.

Not really, it started off as a Flash story, then DC saw an opportunity to make it a company wide reboot. As such, it is focused almost solely on Barry's progression as a character. Everyone else is sort of an afterthought the story's need to progress Barry's arc. It is not a DC universe story, it's a Flash story featuring the Justice League.

During his tenure as Flash in the 80s, Wally was the typical loveable impulsive womanizer jerk with a heart because at that time, more human complex characters with mistakes (basically Silver Age Marvel Comics characters) were the trend.

Who ever thought casting Ezra Miller as The Flash was a good idea? Look up Hunter Parrish, he’ll definitely make a good cinematic Flash as either Barry Allen or Wally West. He looks almost like Grant Gustin and he’s a singer and musician on top of also being an actor. Just like Gustin. Why they went with Miller instead of finding and casting Parrish is beyond me.

Ok to be fair The Flash CW Season 8 is getting better I mean he's solved things and used his intelligence and gotten faster with that top speed being used multiple times to do stuff like in the first episode of Season 8 he handled villains and saved people like how comic flash would where he's taking advantage of his super speed to make enemies hurt each other, going fast enough to save passengers on 2 incoming trains with only less than a minute or 2 to get there

When your schedule is open I would love it if you could cover Aquaman. I know he's not many peoples favorite and his movie was better than I was expecting, but I don't really know who Arthur Curry is. There have been so many different interpretations of the character depending on who's writing and who he's with. I really like his portrayal in king of Atlantis but that show is such an outlier.

I will always be of the mind that The Flash 1 should always be when Wally becomes Kid Flash and Barry has been The Flash for about 5 years, he's a hero, respected. We get a Barry that's very closed off, intelligent and charismatic but doesn't want friends as he risks grief again. The League and Iris (best friends with a little bit of history but nothing major) struggle to relate to him (With the notable exception of Batman, who believes that Henry didn't kill Nora and can sympathise with him as an orphan) Wally allows him to open up because he sees Barry as an idol before the powers as Wally's parents have no time for him so he becomes close with Iris and therefore Barry. The Rogues are teaming up fully after 2/3 have in the past. Take him on from all sides showing that Wally is needed. Notably, I am talking about Wally West 1, who will go missing in the Speedforce trying to stop Barry committing Flashpoint (probably Thawne trying to isolate Barry). With Wally West 2 existing post Flashpoint. Do the rebirth reunion in a Justice League 2 parter film.

a Flash trilogy in my ideal DCEU sholud work like this 1st Movie: THE FLASH -introduce Barry Allen and the main cast -inspired by his early stories with also a comic accurate costume -Captain Cold and the Rouges as the main villains (who are like the Vulture in Spider-Man Homecoming, guys with high tech technology) 2nd Movie: THE FLASH: GORILLA CITY -introduce Wally West (who i think in this universe will have a major role instead of the Arrowverse's Wally) -Gorilla Grodd as the main villain -introduce more Metahuman Heroes like Firestorm or Vixen 3rd Movie: THE FLASH: REVERSE -This will be a more investigative movie -obviously the Reverse Flash as the main villain, who in the 3rd act is reveal the killer of his mother -Henry Allen dies like in The Flash Season 2 or Aunt May in Spider-Man No Way Home -the Speed Force and time travel are introduced in this movie -in the moment when Barry Allen discovers that Thawne kill his mother, Thawne will say "Yes, *IT WAS ME BARRY* , i killed your mother" (not important but i wanted to add in this movie) 4th Movie: THE FLASHPOINT PARADOX -Barry stops Thawne to kill his mother and this cause the creation of the distopic Flashpoint universe -this movie would be like Captain Amercia Civil War. this movie would be a Flash movie but on large scale event like a Justice League movie -the Reverse Flash returns as the main villain -the multiverse teased in the scene where Barry travel trought the Speed Force to preventing his past self to stop his mother's death (seening other speedster like Jay Garrick or Johnny Quick) -this movie changes only few things happened in this version DCEU, not the actors. -Barry Allen propouse to Iris at the end of the movie 5th Movie: THE FLASHES OF TWO WORLDS -Barry Allen ends up on Earth 2 meeting the Earth 2 Jay Garrick and the Justice Society (the team already exist on Earth 1, but in this universe the 2nd generation of heroes aren't the Justice League, but JSA members's nephews and successors like Stargirl, Rick Tyler, Yolanda Montez, Atom Smasher etc... and also includes Superman and Batman who are founder members of the JSA on this universe and have Huntress, Powrer Girl and Val Zod as their successors) -Black Flash is the main villain, who like the Speed Force spirit/demon in the Flash shows, he want to kill Barry for creating Flashpoint and open the multiverse. -Impulse in the PCS 6th Movie: THE FLASH INTO THE SPEED FORCE -Bart Allen arrives from the future to advise Barry on a multiverse treath who want to kill the other universe's speedsters -Savitar and Godspeed as the main villains (Godspeed will be from another universe where he was the one who got the power instead of Barry and goes rouge) -this movie would be like DC's Into the Spider-Verse -No Way Home like apparances -this movie is a prelude to Crisis on Infinite Earths in Crisis on Infininite Earths, Barry will die. and Wally takes the mantle of the Flash.

So, in DC's "Stargirl" on the CW, Earth-3 Jay Garrick(John Wesley Shipp) says he traveled around to other Earth's a lot when he was younger and helped out with the Justice League(s) of that Earth. I'd love to see Teddy Sears make a return, this time as *actual* Jay Garrick, and be from another Earth, and help out the Justice League of Gunn's new DCU. The "gods and monsters" as he called it.

In my opinion, the best way to do a Flash story is with 2 trilogies: First Trilogy (Barry Allen Trilogy): Movie 1: Origin story that gets the audience interested in the character, the villain can be one or two of the rogues. Reverse Flash gets teased in this film, but only in a flashback. Also Wally is in this movie, but only as Wally and not Kid Flash Movie 2: This next instalment should have Reverse Flash be the main villain. Barry learns about the multiverse and meets Jay Garrick. Wally becomes Kid Flash. Climax is the 3 Flashes fighting the Reverse Flash Movie 3: This finale for Barry's trilogy will essentially be the Flashpoint story from the comics and animated movie. Second Trilogy (Wally West Trilogy) Movie 4: After Barrys "death" in a Justice League movie, Wally West takes up the mantle of The Flash. Main villain will be Grodd cuz why not Movie 5: Bart Allen comes from the future as Impulse, idk who the villain would be but by the end Bart takes up the mantle of Kid Flash. Movie 6: Zoom will be the main villain

Very good idea. I thought the same thing althogh my pitch would a bit different First trilogy (Barry Allen trilogy) 1st movie - It would be adaptation of Flash Year One (with some elements of Flash of Two Worlds), showing Barry origin and learning to control his power with the help of Jay Garrick, a speedster from Earth 2, who Barry would help to track down and capture Gorilla Grodd, a Earth 2 gorilla who was used as guinea pig by nazi scientists that gave him his mental power and his hate for humans. 2nd movie - It would introduce Kid Flash, showing the beginning of him and Barry’s partnership, with Barry helping Wally to become a less impulsive and more wise hero, while the two deal with the Rogues (Captain Cold, Golden Glider, Heatwave, Mirror Master and Weather Wizard) a group of criminals who got their hands on Grodd’s weapons and became super villains. 3rd movie - It would have Barry’s big showdown against the Reverse Flash, with the villain tricking Barry into following him to the 25th century, where Barry is arrest by the police, who believe that he is actually Thawne. While Barry tries to escape from there, Thawne steals his identity and tries to ruin his reputation, with Jay and Wally trying to stop him. Second trilogy (Wally West trilogy) 1st film - It would showcase Wally taking over Barry mantle after he had died in the end of JL trilogy. The villain would be Mr Element. There would also be the introduction of Hunter Zolomon, who would be establish as Wally friend and ally. 2nd film - It would showcase Zolomon fall to the dark side and his transformation into Zoom; 3rd film - It would be adaptation of terminal velocity, introducting Bart Allen, who cames to the future to warn Flash about the event caused by the Turtle Man that will result in the death of Linda Park. In order to prevent this, Wally would try to find ways to become even more faster, resulting in him sacrificing himself in the climax to save Linda and end up in the Speed force, being chased by Black Flash. However, with the help of Barry and Jay (who died in the previous movie), Wally would be able to defeat the Black Flash and return to life, reuniting with Linda and his friends.

If you are making a "How to Make a GOOD JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie", you can have a Infinity End-game style of DC's Crisis on Infinite Earths. Have Barry dying to save the multiverse, Hal Jordan or John Stewart rejecting to join the position of a Justice League member with Kyle Rayner and Wally West taking the mantle. The Injustice League can take part working alongside with their enemies and the New Gods could be step in - with Darkseid taking advantage of the Multiversal threat.

The flash season 8 is a pretty good season and the flash in the show does everything that comic Barry does: take out foes and thugs in quick succession, does detective work, and formulates plans without team flash holding his hand. Also side characters that were written to be one note or annoying have some purpose to be in the show

@SUPERFRAME Good video! I have been wanting you to make a "How to Make a BAD FLASH Movie" and "How to Make a GOOD FLASH Movie" forever. If I had total control over the Flash characters and how the story went I would do it like this. First of all I would make it less confusing so that means Reverse Flash wouldn't go back in time to kill his mom. His parents would be alive like pre-52 and the Reverse Flash would still be from the future but his orgin would be more compelling if that makes sense. Reverse Flash's origin was confusing too so I would make it so that in the future Thawne is a big fan of The Flash like Flash is his idol but him and his mom are being abused by his dad at home and he prays every night that Flash would save them but it never happened. Maybe Thawne's dad kills his mother. Thawne gets super speed and goes back in time to mess with Flash because he's angry that he never saved him. Kid Flash would be 21 I think sidekicks should be 18-22 so it can make more sense and that goes for Robin too. @SUPERFRAME what do you think? And I know "The Batman" came out already but could you do a "How to Make a BAD BATMAN Movie" and a "How to Make a GOOD BATMAN Movie"? The ideal style for a Flash movie should be something similar to what Sam Raimi did with Spider man: A fun lighthearted super hero film with sci-fy elements to it. As for the movies of the trilogy itself, my pitch would be this: 1st movie - It would be adaptation of Flash Year One (with some elements of Flash of Two Worlds), showing Barry suffering his accident, gaining his power and learning to control them with the help of Jay Garrick, a speedster from Earth 2, and Barry would help Jay to track down and capture Gorilla Grodd, a Earth 2 gorilla who was used as guinea pig by nazi scientists that gave him his mental power and his hate for humans. He came to Earth 1 wanting to create a device that will allow him to transform manking into apes (which he sees as the superior race). In order to save them, Barry would close it and would end up accessing the Speed Force, coming across two portals: One takes him back to the present while the other to the day his mother died. Despite wanting to reunite with his mother, Barry would do the right thing and gives up the chance to save her in order to save the present and defeat Grodd. 2nd movie - It would be a adaptation of Born to Run, introducing Wally West as Kid Flash, showing the beginning of him and Barry’s partnership, as the Flash trains the young speedster, helping Wally to become a less impulsive and more wise hero, while the two deal with the Rogues (Captain Cold, Golden Glider, Heatwave, Mirror Master and Weather Wizard) a group of criminals who got their hands on Grodd’s weapons and became super villains. The movie would have a theme about family, which is represent by Barry’s relationship with Wally and Iris and the Rogues dynamic with each other (ex: Captain Cold and Golden Glider are brother and sister; Glider and Mirror Master are couple). 3rd movie - It would have Barry’s big showdown against the Reverse Flash, with the villain tricking Barry into following him to the 25th century, where Barry is arrest by the police, who believe that he is actually Thawne. Back on 2004, David Goyer did planned a Flash movie with the same style as Raimi's Spiderman, with Ryan Reynolds playing Wally West as the Flash and based on the most iconic runs with Wall as the lead, but eventually Warner Bros rejected the idea (the same "creative differences" excuse).

I agree with most of your points but I disagree with the reversing time scene in the snydercut to come out of nowhere. When the justice league were reviving superman, flash mentions that when he approaches the speed of light, weird stuff happens to space and time, which hints that he could reverse time, and you even see him do it a little when he revives superman. That line also shows that he doesn't fully have a grasp on all of his abilities yet. Also thank you for mentioning that justice league doom scene with flash and mirror master because that scene doesn't get enough credit

I think the thing is Barry works amazingly in an ensamble. He IS just a guy. He's the audience surrogate. When he's used as that, he works amazingly. That's likely the struggle in making a solo film for him

Cool video. Thanks for making it. Barry Allen Flash was always one of my favorites and for a while my #1 (so you can imagine how gutted I was when Crisis killed him of; part of the reason I got out of comics). His mother's murder I don't recall, so I'm guessing that's post-Crisis? (I'm pretty sure his mom and dad even appeared now and then). I know he's gotten a rep as being bland, but its nice to see someone point out his positives. DCAU's seemed like they just slapped on one of the 80's/90's "sarcastic immature guy" cookie cutters. Done well, but still everywhere. Like the Spider-Man personality, but the one that in-universe her fakes during fights as a strategy to throw off-guard villains. Back then the only ones I recall having for real were comedy kr parody characters, so how it became a go-to norm, I've no idea. Oddly enough, the closest live action Barry so far, for me, is the CW's Jay Garrick by (ironically) Shipp (double irony because his TV show, while great, was also not MY Barry).

I have an idea of what a good Flash movie could look like. It won’t be too slow to introduce his powers but he takes time to fully control them and become a hero. He heads after smaller crimes like bank robberies at first but then he encounters The Rogues which he needs to learn the weaknesses of in order to beat. The movie will also have Barry try to investigate his mother’s murderer and with his first run through the Speed Force, discovers Eobard Thawne. Barry races Thawne through the future and confronts him about his mom. The two fight and Barry defeats him and overcomes his grief. The movie ends with a tease of Gorilla Grodd as Barry gets reports of a rampant gorrila attacking the city.

I do not think doing flashpoint first is in theory a bad idea since it makes sense that barry would have to learn early on that just because he can change the past does not mean he should and flashpoint paradox was not a sequel to another animated flash film and that was great and established everything we needed to know about barry, but the film still could end up being terrible.

Ezra was never playing Barry or Wally, it was just... bizarre and offensive. I don't know if it was Weedon, Snyder or both but it came across as nightmare of tropes associated with autism and ADHD and nothing else. I wouldn't worry about them introducing Wally West. Either it will be an unparalleled disaster where they force the character in straight away even though this film is over saturated with characters already (can we call it unparalleled if the same type of disaster happens so often its actually DC/Warners motive operanti? ). Or they won't introduce him, planning to do so in the sequel which will never happen and we'll be left speculating reboot after reboot (aka the Robin paradox)

If you do How to Make a BAD/GOOD WONDER WOMAN Movie, here are some thoughts: so, the general consensus is that the first Patty Jenkins film is really great and 1984 is a convoluted mess. While I generally agree with that sentiment, it’s a bit more complicated in my eyes. Especially with the first one when compared to other superhero origin movies. If Spider-Man (2002) totally nailed the essence of the character and Green Lantern (2011) butchered it, then Wonder Woman (2017) falls somewhere in between. Sure, it has a perfect idea at the base of testing Diana’s values as she experiences mankind for the first time and decides whether they’re worth saving despite being their own worst enemy. But unfortunately, it’s drowned out to an extent by a bad sense of priority on what to focus on. The first act on Themyscira is geared WAY too much toward exposition and not nearly enough on actually showing Diana as the one naive, optimistic person among a bunch of jaded warriors. So, when she goes against her mother’s wishes and ventures out into the real world, it doesn’t feel nearly as significant as it could have. Compare that to Captain America: the First Avenger, in which the serum transformation actually felt earned because we got a ton of scenes showing Steve’s brave and patriotic side before that. Then, the finale is almost ruined by having Ares actually show up for a typical CGI battle when having it revealed that he was already dead and giving Diana time to properly process that humanity is capable of evil on its own would’ve made that realization all the more impactful. The best part of the film is everything in between where Diana experiences humanity for the first time and is fully convinced that Ares is solely responsible for all the suffering because that’s where the focus is. 1984 has the same problem, but to an even greater extent. If we had actually gotten to see Diana wrestle with the moral ambiguity of being with Steve Trevor again at the cost of someone else’s life, then her ultimately making the choice to let him go would be so much more meaningful. Like, “This random guy wouldn’t have even been born if not for me saving the world. But does that give me the right to rob him of his free will so that I can live out my selfish desire to be with Steve again?” As is, they don’t even address this. And don’t even get me started on how much of an afterthought Cheetah was despite her and Diana’s rivalry being one of the most epic in DC. Both films would’ve been so much better off if their plots were more simple so that they could put all of the focus on these emotional conflicts where it should be and that’s what the rebooted Wonder Woman should be like even if they don’t retell the origin.

Not to mention that Patty decision of establishing that Ares killed the other gods took away the greek mythological concepts of Wonder Woman stories that could be explore in the film and sequels as well preventing the WW movies from having their own style and identity as film (ex: Superman is a super hero film, Batman is detective noir film, Green Lantern is space adventure). That’s why I think the best Wonder Woman adaptation is the 2009 animated film.

That’s one of my favorite aspects of the superhero genre: that it’s basically a way to have all different sorts of genres coexist in the same universe and to me, the whole point of superhero teams made up of members each equally capable of standalone stories (as opposed to package deals like the Fantastic 4) is having those genres bounce off of each other. Having Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern all in the same room should feel like a meet between Sherlock Holmes, Hercules, and Han Solo that actually makes sense. That’s why in their standalone stories, it’s crucial to explore whatever makes each stand out from the rest. In Wonder Woman’s case, it’s Greek culture and mythology. Probably my biggest wish for the Thor films is for them to have done the same with Nordic culture and mythology.

They didn't focus too much but at least it was there and Taika Waititi has now giving thor a definitive tone, showing him going in epic cosmic adventures. Jenkis just took away all the magic of WW in order to make a more grounded story, cleary so the movie could fit the "Nolan TDK realistic" style of the DCEU establish in MoS/BvS, which prevents the DC films from embrancing their unite creative fantastic comic book styles. In the case of WW, her franchise has the potential to be the Percy Jackson of the DC film, a epic greek mythology saga. Diana whole rivalry with Ares instead of being solved in one filmshould be whole arc in a trilogy, with Ares acting as the Tombstone for Diana's Spider man, being responsible for some of her villains origin, showing how Diana presence in Man's World results in the rise of her Rogues Gallery, all this building towards the third film where Diana and Ares can finally have their ultimate clash. So wasted potential!

@@alexandrefrauches132 That trilogy could work as part of the DC cinematic universe we discussed before, with Ares being one of the ongoing villain plots like Luthor’s president arc and Sinestro’s rebellion. The first WW film, which would obviously come out and take place before the first JL one, would simply see Diana reveal herself to the world while giving a PROPER origin to Cheetah, being her true arch nemesis. Ares would be foreshadowed throughout and directly teased in a credit scene. WW2 sees Ares create other villains like Giganta and Silver Swan to combat Diana, just like you said. However, killing and/or testing her would be his only goal for the time being since JL1 would’ve come out by this point and it’s easier to fill the classic plot hole of “why don’t the other heroes show up” if the stakes are kept relatively low. Anyway, his plan fails and the other villains ditch him in favor of the Legion of Doom along with Cheetah in JL2. WW3 is the big finale and since Ares is now ready to pose a world-ending threat, it would have to be established by this point that he lives in a pocket dimension that only Greek gods or people with their lineage can access. So, Diana has to go in and face him by herself. Also, at some point along the way, maybe have Diana take on a sidekick in that of Wonder Girl, who’d go on to join the Teen Titans.
