Mitochondria are amazing and cool
They are found in plants... animals,....fungi,.....protists, and any other eukaryotic cell
They can quickly change shape and move around the cell when needed.
When the cell needs more energy, the mitochondria can reproduce by growing larger and then dividing. For example, say you want to get in shape. As you exercise more the mitochondria in your muscles will increase in number and navigate to the edges of the cell, which allows these muscle cells to have more energy.
If the cell needs less energy, some mitochondria will die or become inactive.
The mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell because of their ATP production. The function of the mitochondria is to boost your energy by performing cellular respiration.

OK, I have to admit... this video was useful, not because I wanted to know how mitochondria work but because I wanted audio of a non-foreigner saying "mitochondria". Pronunciation videos seemed to all be people with foreign accents, which seems like it might alter the pronunciation.

Looking at Powering solar cells is interesting because it copies photosynthesis. So we ask 'how does a solar cell work'. Then we ask how does a 'mitochondria work'. Stomach acid breaks food down into elements that carry a positive or negative charge. There must be movement of charge for power to exist. So how does mitochondria function? Does charge in blood passing by cells pull a movement out of cells. Or does charge in blood passing by cells get pulled into these mitochondria to move through a cell and then somehow back out of a cell ? . There must be movement in some direction created by the acidic breakdown of food into charged elements ? When we understand what this is then we should be able to copy this process and make green energy acidic cells. To replace solar cells

U said mitochondria produced 25 ATP vs 3 APT in the cytoplasm!! Did u make a mistake and meant ATP is produced in both but mitochondria 23 more hence called power house.
