How do these mitochondrial changes in weightlifters compare to those seen in endurance athletes?

I would also like to know the difference

Power athletes use the creatine phosphate bioenergertic and the short anaerobic glycolic pathways as their primary energy source. It would be interesting to setup a study that teases out how these morphological changes to the cristae are impacted by dosing patterns of the energetic substrate. Are they intimately interlinked? Is creatine phosphate are more potent stimulus or is the glycolytic pathways the more potent stimulus to evoke these changes? Also, at the level of gene expression, a genome wide association study to find out what peptides and proteins are most synthesized due to training could have value for muscle wasting diseases, or even enhanced athletic performance. Overall and extremely interesting topic.

The study has a genetic component to it. I would suggest you have a read. Link in description

I'd like to see CrossFit athletes or even body builders who do more hypertrophy focused stuff compared to power lifters. The differences are probably even larger.

That’s an interesting question. These studies are hard to run (invasive, time-consuming) so we may wait for a while for an answer unfortunately

Interesting. Could this explain The "old man strength", years and years of resistance and pushing to the limits.

For mitochondrial health SS-31 and MOTS-C peptides are very good

Although I appreciate the articulated detail I see zero diagrams & graphs to better promote your research findings!

Nah! This makes no sense. Where has your claim been researched and reviewed?

It's on PubMed you thicko..."Increased mitochondrial surface area and cristae density in the skeletal muscle of strength athletes Javier Botella et al. J Physiol. 2023 Jul. "
