Thanks for the break down on the tray and canopy, looks great. Going through the same at the moment, MITS do a great job very similar to Norweld with quality and cost. Still trying to figure out what size canopy for a single cab 79, full canopy or 1500 and keep some tray space. A friend once told me “ it’s only dear the day you buy it “😁

Great video clip. It's nice to see people talk about their setups. But at the end of the clip you always think to yourself, I wonder what that cost. So the fact that you mentioned all that, was very helpful to know. I just have one question re your Darchee awning. The last clip I watched on the Darchee 270 awning the presenter complained that while the awning sat outside on his vehicle and it rained, a lot of water got inside the cover. As he opened the zipper you could see the water drip out. Have you experienced this problem with yours?
@jeffntashadventures34383 жыл бұрын
Thanks Malcolm for your feedback. I’m glad to hear that you found it helpful. As for the Darche, no I have not had trouble with it getting wet while packed in the bag at all. Whilst it’s been a great awning and I’ve never had any issues, I have plans down the track of upgrading to a Bush company 270 XT Max free standing awning. If your considering making a purchase suggest checking it out. A bit pricey but looks the goods 👍 cheers 🍻 Jeff
@malcolmhay66683 жыл бұрын
@@jeffntashadventures3438 Thanks Jeff for the fast reply. Yes the Bush Company XT awning is the best of the best. I too have done a lot of research on awnings and RTT. I think the Alpha Bush Company RTT is also the best of the best. I guess that is the one you have in mind as you mentioned you will be purchasing a RTT. Unfortunately the XT awning is out of my budget.

Full length bash plates, bull bar, winch, 150l long range tank full. 100ltrs water, Very heavy duty rock sliders and skid plates, 35’s and so on. I plan to weigh as daily driver dry weight and take canopy off, this will be best indicator.

hey Jeff thanks for the full transparency ! great workmanship from mits alloy .On a personal note do you feel justified on paying $28 k( hence why mits don't give prices on the website , you'll shit yourself ) , i think its abit of a stretch for a tray/ canopy setup. $20 k would be a fair price for both parties

@RUSTY W changing to Tray and canopy has been a game changer for us. Next trip or so I’m going to jack the canopy off at camp to set up base camp so I can still wheel harder tracks. That’s why I went this way rather than a service body etc. keep me posted on your build, would be keen to hear your thoughts once done. Cheers 🍻
@rohanbruce47223 жыл бұрын
hey mate, very tidy setup and good detail in vid. Thanks for the breakdown of weight and cost. Just wondering if you have had a GVM upgrade, seems like you might be very close when fully loaded with all the gear for a cape trip?
@jeffntashadventures34383 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback Rohan 👍 No gvm upgrade as yet but maybe on the cards. My problem with that is I bought this setup particularly to jack off canopy regularly to wheel harder tracks as that’s always been my passion. If I put heavier spring rate in with gvm upgrade it will be rock hard when I jack it off and won’t flex at all. I haven’t weighed it yet but from the recent Moreton trip I estimated it was about 3.5t. Still fine tuning what I need to carry etc. keep following to see what changes I make. It’s likely I’ll put a set off 500-700 constant parabolics in. At this stage it seems to be the best of both worlds, but granted not legal if I’m at 3.5t loaded. I’ll put it on the weigh bridge with and without canopy in a video soon. Cheers Jeff🍻

Hi Troy, it will vary for everyone based on how you fit it out and so on, but here’s what it cost me. Tray/Canopy, draws, fridge cage, oven shelf, top shelf etc $28K installed Fully enerdrive 12v set up components only $6k Another $5k for electrical install and fitout, xbar and install, fitting existing awning and oven, install upright fridge, install clearview slide and 2nd fridge, lighting etc Both fridges, awning and easy slide $5k I’d budget $45k for everything mate. Great video mate, thank you for doing this with the detailed cost breakdown. Norweld quoted me 39k for a deluxe canopy package ( which I expected around that high ) and was keen to compare with other custom Aussie made places around Brissy. How did you decide to go with Mits being all the way down in Newcastle? Any tips you could offer if I'm going for a similar setup on a new Hilux? Things you should have done/ added/ negotiated in the planning process? Speaking of planning process, is it kind of custom suited to your needs or is it a package? Cheers!!
@jeffntashadventures34383 жыл бұрын
Gidday Ryan, thanks for your feedback. I decided on Mits as they made me feel as if they wanted my business, many others were exactly opposite and made me feel I was an inconvenience. Obviously piece of mind through there growing patronage was also reassuring. I’d definitely go through them again for ant future builds. Although not fully custom, they offer plenty of options across diverse areas such as tray and canopy lengths, tool box and trundle draw lengths, on board water options and many internal fit out options that allow you to build up the package that best suits you. Probably 2 things I’d change if I had my time over, reduce the length of the trundle draw and fit the under tray water tank, at the time I though bigger draw was more important but not the case I’ve found, also inside I went with the back to back draw which limits a bit of flexibility having 2 seperate draws. Not deal breakers and these were my choices which I agonised over for a while. Hope this was helpful. Feel free to send through any other questions you may have. Good luck with your purchase 👍 Jeff
