I had 3 of theses installed in my home a few years ago and I love them. Each unit has its own remote control which allows you can control the temperature in each room seperately. I have one in my living room and 1 each in my upstairs bedrooms. When the bedrooms aren't being used I close them off and only cool the rooms I'm using at the time. They are quiet and you can control the air flow with the louvers. I highly recommend these units and would buy them again if needed.

Wonderful video. Living in New England, and with temps dropping to sub zero, is there a hyper heat or similar upgrade for these types of casette heat pumps? I see they are rated for -13 degrees, but wondering if anything is available to make sure these will continue to run in a cold snap lower than -13, like some other types of systems.

Yes, this ceiling cassette comes with a hyper heat outdoor unit. Please see this product page to find more information about it: gotductless.com/products/mitsubishi-kp-9-000-btu-18-9-seer-hyper-heat-one-way-ceiling-cassette-heat-pump-system?_pos=4&_sid=7c88086cd&_ss=r

For a 15K BTU requirement, which unit is more appropriate, the 12K or the 18K? Thanks.
@gotductlessusa8 ай бұрын
It depends on 2 things. 1) Is 15k BTU for cooling or heating? If it is your cooling requirement, then I would go with 18k. If it your heating requirement, 12k isn't a bad option. 2) What outdoor unit are you connecting it to? If you plan on only installing 1 cassette, the 12k will actually output up to 18k in heat. If you go with multiple cassettes you may get less than 18k from it. Give us a call if you still have questions.

I have a question. I had 5 units installed a few weeks ago and the unit in our bedroom is making some loud popping/cracking noises all night. We have to turn it off to sleep. We've been told that the unit experiences expansion and contraction and that is why it makes these loud noises. Apparently, Mitsubishi is aware of this and that there's nothing that can be done. Has anyone else had this problem?
@hardsole344 ай бұрын
Experiencing the same popping/cracking noises issues. Especially during winter, not so much during summertime. Like you mentioned, heard it's "normal" expansion/contraction noise.
@gotductlessusa3 ай бұрын
As far as what we know there is going to be expansion and contractions. Sometimes this is due to refrigerant distribution based on which indoor units are on vs, off. However, there is natural expansion and contraction that might result in noises due to copper rubbing up against the plastic casing. We have heard that noise levels can be lowered if you apply lubricant on the copper coil where it is close to rubbing against any plastic. This has helped other customers that have experienced this issue.

I have 5 of these units installed. 4-9KS/1-18K. 4 installed about 5 years ago, I added a 9K unit. I have never had a noises of any kind from the units. My 18 did develop a leak which turned out to be a drain reservoir most likely cracked during the install. My installer sent a crew, they diagnosed the problem, ordered me a new unit, installed it no expense to me. Took about a week to do because they had to order an 18K unit, or it would’ve been done the first day. Noises of any kind are not normal, I’d insist the installer change out the unit especially if the noise wakes you. I also not use my system for cooling, I only used the heat the first week of the first winter I had it.
@fairplayer916Ай бұрын
question:: can it be used as a sudo-ceiling fan? like without running the AC pump system in winter to just move air around the room.
@gotductlessusaАй бұрын
You technically could just use it as a fan. That's an expensive fan though.

Can you link a video on how to clean them and do a thorough maintenance cleaning? I have 4 of these and I clean the filters every month but I think they need a better cleaning. I am struggling to find the bib that you'd use to collect the water/cleaning solution. Would love some guidance.

@@gotductlessusa another question. I have 1 unit that makes a loud noise much of the time but only when it’s in the cooling mode. When it’s in heat mode in the winter it doesn’t make the noise. We had a service call for it last year and they cleaned it but just said that’s how it would be?!? Seems odd to me. It’s in our kitchen (we have an open concept so we have 2 in the main living area on opposite sides of the home. Both are controlled by the same thermostat.). Anyway, have you ever experienced an issue like that and how is it resolved? Any Mitsubishi services in KAnsas city area you know of. Our installers 5 years ago sold to another company and they had a good technician but he’s no longer with the company. That’s who we’ve been using but I’m wondering if there might be others that know more or have more experience?

@gotductlessusa5 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes, you can! You can use the PAR-40 if you want to use kumo cloud for wifi. If you don't want wifi then you can use the PAC-SDW01RC-1 (newest and cheapest Mitsubishi controller). It sucks that PAC-SDW01RC-1 isn't compatible with wifi but it is what it is. Here are the links for the products on our site if you want to do some more research: gotductless.com/products/mitsubishi-simple-ductless-wired-remote-controller-pac-sdw01rc-1?_pos=1&_psq=pac-SD&_ss=e&_v=1.0 gotductless.com/products/par-40maau-mitsubishi-wired-digital-thermostat?_pos=1&_psq=PAR-&_ss=e&_v=1.0 You can also use Nest or Ecobee if you use the PAC-US445 thermostat adapter. Hope this helps. Call us if you have questions 866-399-0206.

Besides cleaning out the filters you show, do these need any regular maintenance?
@gotductlessusa8 ай бұрын
It is always recommended to get a thorough cleaning at least bi-annually to keep the coil and parts clean from buildup. This will ensure that your unit will serve you for a longer period of time.

@gotductlessusa7 ай бұрын
No, it would not vibrate the floor above. The ceiling cassette itself is very insulated with decibel levels ranging between 27-37. You can install vibration pads between the washers when you suspend the unit from the floor joists if you are worried about any traveled vibration.

It is best to drain these systems to the exterior whenever possible. If it drains to a sump pump or some other waste line then there is a chance that those smells will be smelt when running the unit.
