Thanks for showing how to loosen the shoes of the rotors

Pro Tip: Make sure to properly adjust the shoes that have been loosened, so that they aren't flopping around and so that the e-brake still works.

Yep. When putting the rotor back on it should have some resistance to it. If it's too easy to put back on it's too loose!

Rotors on my 2011 Outlander seize on as well. Easiest way I've found for removal is to get a 4lb sledge and give them a couple of good whacks from behind. I've never had much luck with rubber mallets, and lighter hammers just get you half the rotor on the floor in a pile of rust chips. You need to get a good angle on it from underneath rather than pulling the hammer towards you, so proper vehicle support is a must.

Natural11001001 It was more of an issue with the parking brake shoes in this case. They were hung up on the huge rust ridge in the drum . I didn't want to destroy the shoes with brute force.

on my outlander 2007, I cannot remove the upper caliper bolt to put some silicon grease on it because it's being blocked by the break lining. So I am planning to remove first the break lining to give way to the caliper bolt? is it that difficult to bleed? first time to remove the lining though. thanks

There are two threaded holes in the disc. Use a suitable bolts, screw them in and disc will pop-up very easy. No need to use hummer ans suffer as you did.

Hey thanks for the advice but did you even watch the video? That option wouldn't work in this situation.

Some of the newer models don't have threaded holes. My 2012 didn't have it.

I just did a friends 2012 and all 4 retainer springs were off.. laying inside rotors. this made the rotors a nightmare to come off.. could this be a factory issue????? how did they come off? they need to be compressed to release.? took me forever to get the rotors off because they would bind up trying to pull rotor off.

Bob DelSignore It may be an issue related to the rust ridge that i encountered. Our mitsubishi has a lot of rust on the undercarriage for such a new vehicle.

I've got this same problem on Hyundai Tucson. Do I just locate the retaining spring and try to click it off? Just not sure how to remove it with screwdriver.

@@leeetchells609 From what I can find, it should be the same process as my video. The trick is to push that cap in so it can turn and the pin will fall out of the slot. Look up what the brake shoe hardware looks like to get an idea of how it locks together if this is your first time. Just be advised, don't do it if you feel uncomfortable working on this kind of stuff. It could be unsafe to drive if not done properly.
