I wish I had watched this review prior to purchasing a new Toyota Fortuner last January. The electronic safety gear malfunctioned every time I headed off on a trip towing the camper trailer. After 3 long months of back and forth frustration I received a full refund from Toyota. I then bought a Pajero Sport Exceed and was $6,500 better off. My bad luck turned to good fortune as the Pajero Sport is a much more comfortable and practical car for everyday use. A big plus being able to be in 4WD full time. I've towed the camper trailer over 3,000kms and travelled along some rugged tracks without any issues.

We’ve had our MY16 for 2.5 years now and can not fault it. Will be looking to upgrade to a new one in the next 6 months so we can go with 7 seats and leather. And I want the automatic tailgate 😂😂 it’s my daily drive and we’ve also taken it off road and it hasn’t skipped a beat. Great vehicle all round, only 2 things i can fault which is if you have baby seats in the middle row (we have 2), to get to the 3rd row you basically have to crawl through the boot to get in. Would of been ideal if they also had the 2nd row slide back/forward too, like the fortuner. Also with the 2 baby seats in the middle row, you can't fit anyone in between, its narrower than our old Hyundai ix35. Outside of that, we are massively pleased with it. it's magic!🤙🏽

Nice interior and exterior updates but Mitsu has failed to impress the buyers buy missing out on a lot of available options. I have a 2017 exceed and looking to upgrade to this soon but definitely exceed could have improved dramatically. Front and back exterior looks is a nice welcome including the shorter ugly tail light. 1 : We have a 2.4lt vgt diesel with 133kw engine, 8 sp auto is nice but still it is sluggish trying to move a 2 tonne truck. Mitsu could've tuned it to provide at least 150kw or at least an overboost function to help with overtaking or taking off at the lights. Mitsubishi is the champion of Dakar rally at least have an engine comparable to the Ford ranger or the Rav4. I need to spend at least another $1000+ to dyno tune so I can extract 150kw from this engine. 2: fuel tank could've been increased to 80 90 or even 100 lts so we can finally get 1000kms a tank. I can get almost 700kms on day to day drive but a true offroader with outstanding active lock diff designed for off-roading should be able to get 1000kms a tank. Again a Dakar champion should be able to design a better off roader. 3: The exceed comes with so many cameras and sensors, in Oz there are 3 accessory packs available to mount to save money, exceed misses out on the signature plus accessory pack ( nudge bar and led light bar combo) because Mitsu designers could not relocate the front grille camera up just an inch to accommodate the accessory. Not everyone wants the expedition pack with a heavy front bull bar. 4: 8" screen with GPS is finally what we needed and also the lcd dash with customisable speed tacho combo is pretty good by why oh why can you not update the speaker system to a Rockford fosgate with a dedicated sub? Standard pajero gets the audio upgrade and the exceed misses out? My lancer ralliart had the Rockford with amp and sub and it was THE BEST factory audio setup I had ever enjoyed. Window shattering 8" sub was leaving me with a huge grin every time. Apart from that not much has been changed, the auto tailgate, Bluetooth remote and car app is a nice touch. Heated seats could've also had cooling seats. I'm not sure if I'm asking for much if there was a panoramic sunroof available. But all in all, for its price it is a good buy. I hope Mitsu designers could see my comments and maybe invest in a MkII release for 2021 with a tuned engine with at least 150kw, larger fuel tank, and of course upgraded audio.
@CarSauce4 жыл бұрын
That was a good read, thanks for the in-depth comment!
@natashagoode5014 жыл бұрын
bugger. I was hoping to hear a good audio review. I see that the current model has 8 speaker stereo, but even number indicates no sub. My current car has a Burmester pack and sounds pretty nice, but I've always been an audio snob (even went as far as car stereo comps in the 90s). If it's muddy it's a deal breaker, if it's tinny, the same, if it's flat, same. I often like my music fairly loud with plenty of mid range and bass (10" usually the best; 8 too small and 12 to boomy, esp if there are no 6s). It's what would likely tip me over to a Fortuner.

@CarSauce4 жыл бұрын
I haven't driven the Everest so can't give a very strong opinion, but I do much prefer the feel of hydraulic over a lot of similar electronic steering like the D-Max which is effortless but light 🙂
@nevillemorris74552 жыл бұрын
My 2019 Pajero Sport has electric steering. I can't imagine they would have gone back to hydrolic? It's well weighted but if you are super critical it lags on the turn in I have got use to it I just turn sooner than normal, my son says a better anti roll bar would go along way and low profile tyres would almost fix it. But I hate low profile tyres and as I said I'm use to it. Handles very well for a soft riding 4x4 even when towing.

Very good. Subscribed ;) A common thread seems to be that everyone acknowledges just how good value this car is. Currently assisting my parents looking for a great value SUV that can tow a 2,700kg caravan (that's the ATM figure - we've had it run over a weigh bridge) around the country in retirement. Wondering if anyone here has bought one or knows whether it is comfortable towing this weight because although it has a 3,100kg stated towing capacity, it has got a bit less torque (430Nm) than others in the range (500Nm), but an Exceed model is just so good value that it's hard to look past. It also offer 670kg payload which is surprisingly very hard to find this high (have also looked at the Ford Everest Titanium which has 623kg and Toyota LandCruiser Prado VX which has 605kg). Does it haul ok basically or is it Struggletown, population Pajero Sport?

Comments Add a public comment... Maartens Swanepoel It's a very good car, but it has a few issues... In South Africa its more expensive, it only has a 3 year 100 000 km warranty. It has a small feul tank of only 68 liters. Its service intervals are every 10 000 km. Its front inside door handles are in the way of the window buttens. The traction control on the front wheels switch off as soon as the rear differential lock is activated, so not such a good 4x4 system. It has more body roll than some competitors. The middle seat of the middle row is useless and hard even to hard for kids on short trips and the seat belt in the roof is useless, uncomfortable and ugly, it cold be housed in the seat back. The third row layout is OK but it could have been pakkaged better. It needs more power and it's lagging behind the competitors. The infotainment system is dated. But its got a very good 8 speed auto box. It's good looking, and the AWD select with an open centre diff is very good and ahead of the competition.

Tbh I’d take a Subaru Outback over it but the pajero is nice, the outback is in a different car type though

Why do I have to look at your face 80% of the time instead of at the car?
