Mitsubishi Pajero / Triton key battery replacement - EASY!!

Is the key fob remote on your Mitsubishi Pajero not working like it used to? Swapping in a new battery is a very easy job you can probably accomplish in about five minutes!

The black chip is a Philips Crypto ID46 Transponder, They often fall out as you indicated resulting in a non start of the vehicle, An automotive locksmith can replace and program a new chip without going to the dealer who can only supply a whole new key.

I had the battery in the wrong way and it doesn't work, would that have damaged it?

It is possible, although well designed electronics with replaceable batteries normally have some sort of reverse polarity protection in case that happens. So I'd be surprised if that's happened to your key. If the key's not working I'd say it's most likely that it was already faulty and the flat battery wasn't the problem, though it's possible the key may have lost its program if the battery was flat for a long time, but I never had that with mine. Either way, if it doesn't work the only option is probably a new key unfortunately.

Oh great news, thanks for the update! Maybe the old 'new' one was dodgy? Or damaged in the installation. Either way, good job!
