Mark the correct way to replace the universal joint is to remove the driveshaft from the truck then change the joint on the bench, never seen it done like how you did it and would not recommend doing it that way to much can go wrong.

Good work mark Thor's hammer done the trick 😂👍🏻

You need a set of drive-on ramps for easier work on the truck.

The front of the driveshaft should have a splined slip joint that goes into the transmission. You should have been able to remove the drive shaft without having to do anything with the front universal joint. That would have allowed you to use the press for the other side of the joint and re-intsall the drive shaft. I saw a comment on the location of the grease fitting. Most original equipmetn universal joins come sealed wihth no grease fitting. For the one you took out, it seems the grease fitting didn't do much good. Good video.

@@ResurwreckAutosUK I know about this because I have experienced broken U joints in my misspent youth (when most american cars were front engine rear drive). The drive shaft is easily removed and put in the trunk so the car can be pushed or towed.

That copper / hide hammer. They great with the renewable screw in ends. Sometimes the hide is just to soft. You do know you can get nylon ends don’t you. As you know the nylon is a soft plastic. Softer than the copper harder than the leather

Hi mate yeah I have a nylon hammer but it’s a small one

@@ResurwreckAutosUK you can get a screw in end (nylon) to fit your copper / hide. Give you the little extra weight

I think you put it back together the wrong way round. How are you going to get to the grease nipple. Hope I'm wrong and you can still get a grease gun on it

Hi mate I put it back the way it come off 👍👍

Mark re look at your video mate the original one had the nipple facing forwards towards the driveshaft now you have it facing backwards these often get neglected on servicing pumping the grease in is a must @@ResurwreckAutosUK
