That detail at 9:20 was huge! I think it would be helpful to show more situations like this from the opponent's perspective to illustrate how proper movement/stance shuts down his offense

As someone coming from the "traditional" bobbing-and-weaving side (and someone who hasn't trained in over 15 years...), your footwork-focused approach is really interesting and fascinating. I'd like to know if ducking, bobbing, and weaving have any place at all in your sidestepping approach or if you are discouraging that completely when you coach. Appreciate your insight!
@TrueBoxerStance3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your comment. It has a place, but in a way, I discourage it as it’s used improperly within my system. I teach ducking down the line after the footwork is established as the source of defense. By then my students will be so acclimated to using that they truly only change levels for body work. I hope that makes sense.
@idrawbadly10153 жыл бұрын
@@TrueBoxerStance Yeah, makes sense. It sounds to me like the two techniques are fundamentally incompatible. They don't build upon one another or compliment each other. It's either the wider stance with weaving and bobbing or your narrower stance with more dynamic footwork for offense and defense. I'd be curious to see how the two techniques stack up in a real fight. I've seen some people here on YT throwing out things like the TBS not being effective because you couldn't get out of the way of punches fast enough with just the sidestepping and without bobbing and weaving (especially against trained fighters who would be able to predict the space you're sliding into), because it can't generate enough power for punches, etc. I supposed you can't really know until you've properly trained and tried both approaches.

@@idrawbadly1015 I've recently been sparring with this style and it is effective but you must have a nearly ENDLESS gas tank, as this uses your legs A LOT

I respect his knowledge and wisdom as a coach, but I would like to see him sparr with this type of footwork live, I've never seen or have known this to be a type of footwork, and or transitions

Hey Marvin I wanna see some pad work with some 3 or 4 punch combinations with you if you could just to see in action with the footwork to see how they work cuz I’m kinda confused and is everything initiated with the jab? Cuz it seems like that and being a student of the sport you see a lot of people get countered pretty bad by basic head movement so I just wondering how do you counteract that thanks 🙏
