I think she ranks up there in the best top female artist in the world... how did she slip through the net??? If she had only toured in the UK I'm sure She would have made it here then been notice back in the States... Frank Terry UK

Well, Dusty Springfield took note of her because she released a cover herself in 1965. I just discovered an unpublished alternative take that sounds better because it has less post processing and her voice sounds more natural. The title is: Dusty Springfield - I Had A Talk With My Man Last Night. 1965 Alternate take That being said, although I love Dusty Springfield, I think Mitty Collier's version is better.

Passing by the old Chess Record building on 21st and S. Michigan, I thought about Mitty Colliers "I Had A Talk With My Man". I heard it for the first time while visiting my cousins in Chicago back in 1964. I remember hearing it quite a bit at house parties back home in Detroit soon after. Man, what a song.

Amazing song by an amazing and gifted singer! It's a crying shame that this fab song and lots of other songs by Mitty and other artists sadly "slipped through the cracks" and didn't become the big hits they should have been.

Hello Schokg02, From the depths of my soul, I thank you for transporting me back to a precious time with my mother. I was born in '64. It was just the two of us. She divorced my dad when I turned a year old. I remember a lot of music coming from our long, Sears Silvertone, Danish modern, console stereo with a, large, single ceramic lamp a top of it, as I was growing up. Evenings spent guiding one of my toy cars along out lavender sculptured carpet and she cooked dinner in the kitchen, after work and picking me up from daycare. It fascinated me to watch her lift the center lid, turn on the "box", as they were called, place a 45 with spacer on the turntable and listen to the wonderful sounds coming out of both speakers at each end. Although I inherited everything when she passed in '12, our stereo was stored in the garage and unfortunately was too weathered to restore. Thank God I still have this 45. Its one of the earliest songs I remember her playing. You brought that innocent time back to me and God Bless You for doing so.

Imagine its the mid 60s you turn on the radio and songs like this are playing. I can see my mom cleaning the house or doing the laundry and just enjoying the music. Somehow it doesn't feel the same today when I turn on the radio. But man when I get out the oldies and start playing the old songs my neighbors come out of the wood work and yell hey Dan turn that up! I doubt if most of todays music will stand up like this great performance by Miss Mitty Collier..
