As an interpreter/translator let me say- 2 hours to translate a full video script from Japanese to English is pretty good, nice job!! It's clear from your finished videos that you're not just translating word for word, and you're also not just jumping on the very first translation you come up with. You're sifting through multiple options and variations of words and expressions, and coming up with the most natural and conversational way of expressing what you want to say in English. If you keep going about it as diligently as you are, I think you can safely stop worrying about whether you'll make yourself understood. Great stuff! (Btw, I hate mornings and I eat the most at dinner. I wish it weren't so, though!)

When I visited Japan, I opted to eat what was advertised as the traditional Japanese breakfast: small piece of fish, small bowl of rice, miso soup, and a couple varieties of vegetables (usually fermented). Since I'm not Japanese, I don't know for sure if this is what's common for breakfast in Japan, but it was wonderful! I felt full and energized, allowing me to walk and tour Japan's gardens and temples the entire day without finding the need to snack - and I was in my second trimester of pregnancy! It's been more than a year since that trip, but I have incorporated fish and fermented foods into my breakfast. At times I try to recreate what I had in its entirety, because I do think that the combo of fermented foods, high quality protein, veggies, and small portion of carbs is great for consistent energy levels throughout the day.

When I first started I switched to wholemeal bread for toast and had had one slice with banana and honey/jam. Warmed berries and a drop of yoghet on wholemeal toast. Instead of the sugary cereal I switched to heating fruits like apple and pear in honey in a pot adding 1/2 a serve of oats and strewing that till cooked. @itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh51183 жыл бұрын
In the japanese kitchen some dishes are heavily seasoned because they are supposed to be eaten along with rice which balances the flavour. Without rice or other bland foil these dishes might become too strong tasting. So for japanese low carbers and japanese diabetics it's popular to replace rice with a bland tasting food that can be a "carrier type food" for these other dishes. In Japanese low-carb circles, the most popular bland rice replacement food is plain tofu. Other low carb items popular in japan are shirataki noodles, konnyaku and okara. Another option is looking at it from the positive point of view. As long as you eat carbs in moderation you can have them. Some other people can't even have them in moderation.

I began learning Japanese recently so that I would be able to understand videos that are in Japanese because I love the culture and the food. (Who doesn't love Katsu?!) I always look forward to your videos. In America, we have horrible eating habits, and I'm too scared to count the calories. This past year I made the change to working from home and that has helped me eat better meals. I'd never think to mix tuna and avocado. I'll have to try it next time. Normally we just put an egg on toast with sliced avocado and seasoning. :) Thank You again for your video.

I was eating 1200 calories a day while exercising back in august for 5 months (im 5'2) but i was eating anything as long as it was in budget, i lost some weight but it wasnt alot and it was very slow. Now im not counting calories but i eat mostly vegetables/grains/fruit/tofu sometimes chicken and fish, im very strict on reading labels to make sure theres no added sugar, i also cut out dairy almost completely except a small amount of greek gogurt this week to make a labneh dip, doing the same exercises as i was before im losing weight much faster. I noticed in alot of japanese food theres rarely cheese or dairy, i think dairy and sugar are the biggest culptits for americans being obese. I used to believe all calories were equal, but from my own experience I can now say they are definatley not equal.

Remember not all calories are the same. In the US we have the problem that most everything we buy in the supermarket is processed or at least the ingredients are. Even the bread is processed and highly refined. The ingredients like lab made sugars and refined oils count as processed and that is what makes people obese. Not the calories. Of course add that all the sugar and carbohydrates and that combination is what makes an American look the way we do now. We are distinctly American now, highly recognizable when we go overseas from the distance. 😉
