„Tiny little moves“ - because the tracks already sounded great! The snare was compressed very hard. No wonder he didn’t need more of it.

One often OVERLOOKED trait of these awesome tips vids is the writing and ARRANGEMENT and selection of tones (producer) --- The mixes are far better if the mix engineer is not fighting bad writing and sonic choices to start with. Well done Bro.

Fresh (expert) ears... thanks Bobby! Yeah, sometimes we're too close to the material when tracking and producing- just trying to get it done and over the finish line without crashing :)

With all the little detail-y stuff going on and yet it is EZ to pick it all out! That was both fun and informative, as usual, Dr Bob! and it's a fun song, to boot! Thanks

Hey Doc, another great lesson here! Although as a doctor you should know the Hippocratic Oath: "I will apply, for the benefit of the sick [audio], all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism." Translated that means you don't have to compress everything!!! 🤣

Hey All, When Clute sent me his Cubase file several plugins completely changed their settings between he and I. Don't know if its a Mac/P.C. thing or what?? Anyone ever had this happen?? Anyway here is a video of Clute, with a killer thumbnail...hahahaha. correcting those mistakes. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGXcZXeVfNl4n8U

This has been recorded very well. So then you don't need to change much.

Thanks Bart. I recorded everything but the vocals.

The main points here are less is more (which I try constantly to implement in my judging and decisions) and that mixing is always subjective in parts. Also the balance was great and the genre doesn´t call for extrem moves imo. For example the lead vocals work in the context but I would never smash them with a limiter that hard to prevent some of the dynamics. That doesn´t mean that I am right and he´s wrong. It means both (and many decisions more) can work. Best example for me and kind of eye opening are the 2 different mixes from Nirvana´s Smells Like Teen Spirit. totally different mixes but both work...especially for the consumer ear.

Hello again Dr! What DAW did he use and what method of transferring the session did you use or do you generally use for slow tools etc?
@BobbyHuff2 жыл бұрын
I always send stuff back and forth through We Transfer.

Sorry, I was asking if you use OMF or export separate tracks or how you have had success between different DAWs..
@BobbyHuff2 жыл бұрын
@@martytess oh sorry! Ha. The only way that I’ve ever done it is bounce every track from zero and send all the tracks that way.
