I can't tell you how happy I am that this type of channel exists! Recreating features within games is something I find way more fun then actually making my own games so to see a channel dedicated to it is great! Keep up the good work :D Maybe not as much of a feature but one thing I would love to see is you recreating some sort of boss fight. I used too and still do love recreating boss fights from games :)

This video is amazing! It is great for people who have already some knowledge of Unity, because you give an idea of what you did and wich tools you used, so that we ourselves can research how to use them, making the video itself very lightweight to watch, but also very heavy on insights! I never thought about "borrowing" animations from the net, and that site sure seems to have some pretty good ones!

It’s insane how you can do all this in what seems like probably a few hours when it takes full teams months. This is so good! Thank you very much for showing off how you accomplished this! Just enough detail to let people know how you did it, without going into too much to overwhelm. Also, the quality of the effects you used is really impressive! I was convinced this was an Unreal tutorial when I clicked on the video! This also helped me overcome a hurdle I've been struggling with for awhile, which was determining how games handle warp systems (E.g. do they just teleport the player there? Is it animation based? Or do they use some sort of lerp?)

Awesome video! The pacing is nice and concise, but there's just enough detail so that you can figure it out for yourself. So many guides get lost in explanations that are easily findable on the net already. Also, the fact that you put forth the effort to polish it is great as well. Many gamedev guides out there don't really seem to realize the effect of good presentation, but you clearly do.

Only thing that is still different to the FF effect is the timing of the camera. In FF the camera moves AFTER the teleport of the character, in your version it is simultanious, camera and wrap happen at the same time, that's why the particle effect is barely visible. But this could be fixed really quick and the video itself is really great! Keep up the good work :)
@NomSauce
@NomSauce 5 жыл бұрын
This also has to do a lot with the fact that noctis has much more fleshed out throwing animation and so the sword goes flying before his animation has finished. It's cause his arm still carries momentum from the throw and the loose ruling is that he ports when the weapon itself lands at location. If he messes around with the timings and adds animation during sword travel, then as long as the camera follows the physical player, he won't have to mess with the camera timing that much. Big reason for the camera being "delayed" is to let you see the momentum and power Noctis puts into his throw, which creates a more impactful effect and feeling. It's also why he tends to jump up in the air or remain airborne because you can then exaggerate his movement and create rotational momentum and the eye gets something to look at because he's still in motion. That being said, that's what animation teams and or combat-animation artists/choreographers are for in the first place. Since it's not so much animation magic or gameplay design as it is just general understanding of choreography. He still more or less nails the original concept.
