Love 1176 even just for a plugin especially for vocals, even tho sometimes not so well recorded vocal can be hard to tame the harshness. But right now for vocals almost every track i use fab filter in the vocal modes and also easy lol, works like a champs for almost every track to control dynamic

Got the Bluey from Black Lion. I like it to push the vocal forward. Beside the LA2 in my UAD La610 Mk2 a good complishment. Hardware rules!

Thank you for the background info - so interesting. Love the inserted images too. I'm currently using solid gear (LA610) on the frontend and sweetening with the Bluey in the box with really nice results. Been thinking about reversing this order though, so might take the plunge and purchase a decent FET clone.

Hey, David!! Can you talk a bit about the situation where you get the voices in "stereo" i.e. they were recorded in mono and exported in stereo. I notice that more and more people are mixing voices exported in Stereo, not converting them to Mono.... !? What is your mindset on this subject? How is "better" ?

No is not better, it actually makes no difference, if a track is mono is mono, no matter if it was exported in stereo, you just basically rise the level of it, that's it. But it's bad practice and who does this obviously don't use hardware because you'd need 2 or a stereo compressor/eq/whatever instead of 1 or a mono 1 , it's pretty dumb

Great info! I just purchased a used Universal Audio 1176LN Limiting Amplifier Reissue from a seller on Reverb. He purchased it new from Vintage King Audio in march of this year. I have upgraded my studio to Mac-book pro m1, Cubase pro 12, Neumann 103 , Bae Neve 1073 w/eq. , B2 Bomber ADC This will be my new vocal chain I needed to get a compressor to complete the chain for tracking. Was the Universal Audio 1176LN Limiting Amplifier Reissue a good choice? Thank you so much for your advice...😊

You can never go wrong with a 76, although I'm not s fan of the UA reissue, you're gonna be fine

Great video review... have you tested the Audioscape ones ? they seems to be very very close (sonic wise) to the originals but not easy to get one here overseas.
