Mixed Media Abstract Sketchbook Tour

Hello,
This is a complete tour of my recently completed altered abstract sketchbook project. I had previously gone through this sketchbook and marked pages I didn't like or felt could benefit from more work with post-it notes and then went back and altered the pages daily.
It was a good opportunity to work with mixed media, and I had fun really pushing some spreads, and changing up pages.

It’s fascinating how pieces can change over time and turn into something completely unexpected with so much to learn from or put forward into further works. Looks like this sketchbook was a very cathartic process. Love it! 😊

Fab tour. Thx. Never used to use sketchbooks. Now I have a table by the microwave and I paint while the food cooks! I play with colour and shape. There is def now some cross fertilization with collage and ‘proper’painting which I do in the loft.

I actually see your art unfolding in this sketchbook - you take lines, forms, colours, materials for a walk - before you move these mark making parties to something you would call art. I mean, I doodle too but you show the extravaganza and beauty of it just because you really explore in a freeing way.

thank you - this sketchbook is really personal to me- it feels me at the moment , I may well change, but I'm using what i have, going over, subtracting, not worrying about how much time I spend on something essentially which has no monetary value, maybe it is also a bit reflective about my current season of being a mother-, never sure if I'm getting right (often not !!!), essentially caring for loved ones doesn't earn money, or great status these days- but I'm grateful I have the time to do all this, it felt like a great space to get out my frustrations, hide them even in the layers, but at the same time I've made something for me- and I';ve the knowledge it is mine - I could alter it again if I so choose. It is why I love art.

@@soniabrittain totally feel this, I am a mom too, 2 are in school one is out of the house and i love to go over older sketchbookpages, when I become someone else again lol. Thank you for sharing, there is so much life in your art and I like that you are authentic and when you mention references and other artists I totally get that, it´s nice to listen to someone educated :) cheers from Berlin
