My motto is "Practice doesn't make perfect. Practice makes progress!" Failures are lessons to learn from and are very important for growth. Thank you for showing us that failing is part of the process to learning.

That is so true Danita! In a world that favors perfection and beautiful outcomes it is a good reminder that practicing (and not always getting it right!) is a huge part of the creative process.

Thank you for sharing your work with us. Every stroke is a learning lesson and, through practice, mastering what we all seem to strive towards. ❤

I totally agree! The only way to master anything is to practice, practice, practice. Thanks for that reminder.

I'm mainly a watercolour artist, with mixed media, but also trying to do some acrylic work - and your style inspires me. I'd love to see you paint more - just anything. Love your portraits and the flower pots. I like your colour palette - I'm more into vibrant ones, but your colours just work in your paintings. 💕

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words. It is encouraging to know that even though we don't share a similar color palette you can still find inspiration in my videos.

Oh you are right, sometimes it happens to me, when things don't come out as I envisioned but again, knowledge and experience can only be gained from those who try! I really appreciate that! By the way, I really love all that texture on this piece, I just love the hat too. What a great lesson!

Thanks Maria! I so appreciate your encouragement. I was reluctant to share this video but am trying to share with honesty the whole journey of the creative process--not just the ones with perfect outcomes.

Very textural page beginning, limited palette & you created different portraits until this last one👍🏻🖌️🎨💕

Yes, this is very different indeed. Thanks for watching Sabine.

I don’t think I ever get ‘what I’m looking for’ 😂 I would love to see you play with red, greens and blue 👏😍 lots of love from a lightly snowing arctic Norway 🥰🌺🌸🌼

I think that is often true Lena--it is hard to achieve what we are after in our art. I guess that is why it's so valuable to keep at it, experimenting and practicing. I don't often use red in my art but greens & blue are definitely I could show in a video sometime. PS...how much snow do you have?
@lenawarelius419527 күн бұрын
@ we have little snow, just 15 centimetres maybe. It has been laying awhile so it sinks and blows around 😊 everyone with a snowmobile is very happy 😂 And it brightens up your day light 🙏 since we lost all sunlight and would see the sun until next year 😊 Do you have snow?
@pamhemmerling27 күн бұрын
@@lenawarelius4195 Oh my gosh, I forgot that you lose sunlight like that. That is brutal. We do not have snow here in Seattle (west coast of the US) and generally only get it for a few days each year. The east coast just got a ton of snow though.

Wow! lots of changes and she morphed into a completely different person.Started out like my Grandma in her 70s and ended up a young person and you shifted her position/angle to the viewer. BTW most of my art ends up not beng what I envisioned. I think I'm going to start doing several paintings/sketches as a series to explore ideas.

Oh my gosh, thanks for your analysis of my painting process! I agree that most of my art doesn't end up being what I envisioned either, well to be honest I generally don't have the end in mind when I start so this was a bit of an anomaly. Anyway, thanks for watching and letting me know your thoughts.

This is a great video. I admire how you keep working. I’ve been freezing up lately when I get something I like and then don’t know what to do next. I prefer a reference photo also, even with things I’ve drawn 100’s of times. I appreciate watching your process, it is setting me free to go try some new things and say it’s only paper. ❤😊

I'm so glad to hear this video was helpful Shaunna! I think many of us struggle with getting to a place we like in our art and then not knowing how to continue--it's the fear of ruining it or being too attached. But most of the good stuff, the learning happens once we push ourselves further. So good to hear you are setting yourself free!! Love that.
