Oh Gayle, I do love your spirit. Pure determination and with a sense of humor that is endearing. I'm sorry I enjoyed your struggles on the first sheet, but it was only because I identified with that struggle. You know the doctors oath - "do no harm"? Well a journaller's oath could be "have no waste" 😆 Thanks for giving me such cheerful watching while I slow stitched.

Hello Gayle! Great idea with the use of scrapbook paper and stencils. Will give this a try; we’re in a heat wave, perfect for dying papers. I keep a old container filled with water to place my dirty stencils in, I’m one of those people to have to keep my stamps and stencils clean, I got it from my mom..😂😂 love how the wallpaper came out. Good morning, Gayle! 😆 Stepping on the gesso, eh? 😆 "It's going to be one of those days!" 🤣 You had me laughing right away today. A day late, that is. 🙄 It's funny and cool that you can laugh at yourself. Makes things so much fun! OK, so you probably know me and my ideas. Well, I was thinking... Maybe you could seal your sheets with wax. Specifically antique wax. You have to use a clear wax first, let it dry, then go over it with the antique wax, which is a darker brown. But, the antique wax is applied and then removed strategically to give the effect you want. Thus, it gets into the cracks to outline the stencil pattern and gives an antiqued tint to the project. It also seals and protects the work, too. I'll put a few videos on to show how it's done: (Basic how-to) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3-1fWqjipdmmK8 (Next video shows how to use antiquing wax on mixed media. Start at time 22:53) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipvTg2l6q8mlqZo I've done this on a wood project before and it turned out beautiful. I got the Waverly waxes I used, the clear and antique, at WalMart. There are other brands, I'm sure, at other places. This looked like fun! Thanks for sharing, my friend. I'm glad Mr A is doing okay, too. It does take a bit to get over it completely. I'll try to watch your next video today. It wasn't up, yet when I started to watch this. I had a phone appointment, too, while watching, so took awhile. Anywho, hugs, dear lady! Sue ❤

You are awesome! I really wanted to see the footprint texture. I didn't realize that the entire cover could be textured with paste...I've always avoided the spine because I was afraid it would crack and flake off from bending. I do have some "flexible" modeling paste so I'll give it a try. Also, I think the snowflake paste dries clear with a sparkle so if it doesn't show through the spray, you might try spraying first then adding the paste when the color is dry. I love Mixed Media Monday; I always learn something new. Thank you and you don't ever have to apologize, I'm just happy that you film everything. Oh, and put Camp paper towels over and under the stencils until you can give them a wash.💓💓

You motivated me to go through a bunch of my old mixed media stuff. I had to throw out crackle paste, glass bead gel, several things of different gel medium and some gesso were all hard as rocks. I have some old Alene’s 3-D Accents Design Paste, that’s my only modeling compound and I have two jars of it, as old as it is it’s perfectly good. I have other things that are fine and I don’t even know what they are, interference green, acrylic ground for pastels, Tar Gel, digital ground, acrylic glazing liquid. I don’t even know what some of these things are or what I had them for. Next to go through, paints and sprays.

I had to laugh about the dried product. Everyday I envy your crispy paper noise, sometimes I need to put pages in the oven to get them dry - and they donʻt stay dry! But all my paints and pastes stay moist forever. Itʻs all about humidity I think. Cool results today, thanks again for inspiration.

These are just beautiful. I don't have all those sprays, but I do have lots and lots of watercolor paint that I can make washes out of and put them in spray bottles and spray it on. I'm all about not spending any money that I don't have. I'll let you know how the watercolor turns out. I'm also going to make my own paste with baby powder and gesso.

@@mellieanne9387 I use 1 cup of cheap baby powder, half cup of gesso (or white acrylic paint) and half cup of PVA (white glue) or Mod Podge. Stir it throughly and put in airtight container. It will dry out overtime, but works just as good as the expensive stuff.

Gayle, I'm fascinated with how the last spritzes you did with the yellow shade sort of pooled (?) in spots. Is that the result of ink as opposed to oxide, or bc it came in contact with the paste? This is such a cool project!
