Shocked to hear that anyone dare critisize this lovely story. For many people animals are forever friends, unlike many duplicitous humans. So happy for that man! From Canada. Anyone hating on this man are just miserable people who can’t fathom seeing any joy in life. I feel sorry for them. His reaction was completely warranted. That’s his family and he thought they were lost forever. I would have been sobbing.

had the smoke alarms go off awhile ago who got rescued and released into nature first? my dog, they have no opposable thumbs they cant help themselves to feed themselves nor clean up after themselves please give me a break. meanwhile, that is a small dog not a 100 or 150 or 180 pounder please stop.

Ive seen his interviews and I genuinely think this is just how he is lol. Hes a very spirited person, but he seems kind and I get being that dramatic over finding your pet you thought may not have made it during a disaster.

I love ❤ his joy to see his dogs. He lost his house 🏠 which is a structure. But his dogs love him unconditionally and he thought he couldn't save them? Until he saw them again. This video is so wonderful to see and to hear his reaction brings tears to my eyes. I live here in Southern California too. Born and raised here. My heart breaks for all these peoole and animals. I had to put my beloved Cocker Spaniel Daisy down in 2022 and miss her every single day. So when this man saw his dogs again, I could 100 percent empathize with him. He is truly blessed. If I could have my dog back again, I would be the same way. I would give up any possession I had to see my dog again too. I am spiritual 🙏 so I know she is being cared for in Heaven and I will see her again. To all you animal lovers who have helped evacuate horses, goats, pigs, farm animals, dogs, cats, birds, turtles, retiles and more . . .may God have a special place in Heaven for you all. You all are 😇 Angels. Along with heroic Firemen and Women. You all are the best of humanity. Thank you 🙏

I am beyond thrilled for him and can understand his response and relief while being reunited with Oreo, after being separated from his fur baby for five days, amongst the horrific California fires, and probably thinking he would never see Oreo alive again. Thank god Oreo is unharmed and now back with his family.

I live in NorCal, and having gone through three major fires up here in the last five years, one of which came within a quarter mile of my home, as well as responding to several car crashes over the years, my nervous system now goes into hyper-overdrive from the accumulated stress, and my once calm and coolness has now been reduced to acting and sounding like a crazy chicken... Wait until something like this happens to YOU, and see how *you'll* respond... You won't be Clint Eastwood, and it won't be cinematic...

The only reason why I was judging a little bit is because he left the dog there when he evacuated but maybe his dog escaped or obviously they didn't think the fires were going to be this serious. Glad the were reunited. Happy for him. Sorry he lost his home and so many people lost so much. So sad.

He was at work. When he returned they wouldn't let him back in. Thankfully an officer had kicked in his door which let the two dogs escape.

Based on some comments and other interviews, the owner was at work while the fires started, he raced home to find they had blocked the streets to get to his house, then a good- heart fireman came to the rescue to find one of his dog at his house.

If you watched the other interviews you would know that he was at work when the evacuation orders hit. Tons of people go to school and work and leave their animals in their home while at work. The evacuations in his area were so sudden and he had no idea his home was in the path of the fire because it spread so quickly. He raced home as soon as he found out about the fire spreading to his area and he was blocked from accessing his home by the fire department. The road to his area was all blocked off. He even tried using a bicycle to get to his house but they would not let him. He did not evacuate and leave his dogs. Please don't pass judgement when you don't know the whole story. He did everything he could to save Oreo and his other dog.

I try hard not to think about the poor animals that became trapped because their owners were at work or not allowed back to rescue them, it is just too awful to dwell on for too long. I’m happy to hear of anyone finding lost pets no matter the circumstances. These fires are just so terrible and devastating I feel for all the animals of all kinds and the people. God bless to all of them.
