Ahhhh the binocular overlap! Thats what was annoying me when i first started using it. Im kinda used to it now but i like the bigger overlap of quest 2.

Yes I already own a Quest 3 VR headset and really enjoy it. I do PCVR SIM racing and connect the headset via USB link cable. All the racing games run very well in VR with the Quest 3. With all the updates the color passthrough is much better now. The pancake lenses are good quality for me - has a nice large sweet spot for viewing - the audio is adequate for racing games - the microphone I don't use at all, I don't do recordings - I am used to LCD lenses, so I have no problems with them - I do not do real dark games. Only change I did to the Quest 3 is bought a BoboVR S3 Pro head strap which also comes with a larger battery pack and Fan. It is comfortable wearing the new strap. I never had any other Quest product because they did not have the power or quality to do my PCVR gaming. The Quest 3 replaces my Oculus Rift S which also was a good tethered Display Port headset for me, just it had a lower resolution. I still have the Rift S for backup. Thanks for the video. Take care.

I bought meta quest 3 for Sim racing to but I'm new to PCVR Sim racing so this is not plug and play, regret for getting it. Going back to PSVR 2 for GT7.

I also have a rift s, do you think the quest 3 is worth the upgrade?
@kajrosenqvist91657 ай бұрын
Meta gave headset that vr scene really needed. There just isnt perfect headset, but Q3 does everything quite well. Aim is balanced for right direction with standalone, still good pcvr, reducing size and still consumer price.

What is binocular over lap? If it is a bad thing why people not talking about it when they mention quest 3 vision and lenses they just say it is very clear and much better than quest 2 ?

I'm a Valve Index user and interested in PCVR only. In this case wouldn't be better to wait for PSVR2 PC support instead of buying Quest 3 now? As Quest 3 does not seem to me so impressive and my RTX 3070 struggled to maintain stable frame rate even with Quest 2 in most games.

Every time I put quest three on after using the pico 4 the first thing that hits me is the poor binocular overlap. It’s a real issue and I can’t understand why meta did that.
@mrrm1st7 ай бұрын
pico 4 is my go to headset for pc vr. Better comfort, binocular overlap and fov with amvr interface. It’s a fantastic headset. I really only use quest 3 for some mixed reality and standalone bits. As quest 3 exclusives come out I expect I’ll use it more.

Also keep in mind that using something like ALVR - you can stream pcvr SteamVR right to the Apple vision pro as well. So perfectly able to do full PCVR over wireless. No wired options at the moment… Though there are indications that the developer strap does have a thunderbolt/display-port connections it seems from some sources. So maybe in the future might be able to tether too (i hope)

I agree with everything, but just fyi, I actually use the Q3 with the link cable. I've found this gives me the best PC VR experience, and importantly lets me set the horizontal FOV to greater than one, which pretty much eliminates the annoying black bars I see at the screen edges when turning my head sideways quickly.

Sebastian, did you write your script for this video with ChatGPT?

Hi Sebastian! Glad to find your channel. I‘m trying to decide between the Quest 3 and the Viture Pro XR for immersive media consumption. What would you recommend in terms of bang for buck?
@mixedrealityTV6 ай бұрын
Hmmm...the Quest will obviously bring more to the table in terms of gaming and it's not of an XR device. The viture is a nice Oled screen you can bring anywhere. It's really about use case. Big old screen for your phone/steam deck, go for Viture, other use cases go for Quest. Did that help you?
@kwameryan6 ай бұрын
@@mixedrealityTV Thanks for replying! Yes, that helped! I guess what I want to know is if the image quality of the Quest is noticeably worse than the Viture when it comes to watching movies and TV shows. It's clear that the Viture use case is a subset of the Quest, but is the Quest as enjoyable as the Viture as a Home Cinema device (not considering comfort)? I enjoyed the Vision Pro virtual cinema but want more freedom with the media sources and don't want to spend 3500 USD!
@mixedrealityTV6 ай бұрын
@@kwameryan the Quest 3 is great. It can't compete with the Oled of the viture but it's still amazing to watch shows in the Quest. Also bigger FOV. It can do so many things just as good as AVP. You will love it.
@kwameryan6 ай бұрын
@@mixedrealityTV Great that you mention FOV. I tried the XReal and the Rokid and sent them both back cause I didn't enjoy having to position my eyes so precisely to look through the narrow FOV. I imagine the Viture would be similar so it'll be a Quest 3 for me. Thanks for your help! 😊 Looking forward to following your channel.

I hadn’t played vr since quest 1. Bought quest 3 with high expectations. I honestly didn’t see any difference on the spaceship demo from the demos on quest 1. Really disappointed. Delivered it right back. But I guess pc vr would show me the difference.
@As_Ss7 ай бұрын
Well not like u have any choice, what u gonna pick with standalone if not q3, there is nothing else anyway, the only competition is pico4, but with smaller apps library so some ppl can't accept it, i choose pico4.

It's great. Best lenses on the market.
@jackr.7497 ай бұрын
The optics of the Quest 3 are amazing, pretty much the whole lens is a sweet spot so not as important to have it placed perfectly on your face like a Fresnel lens HMD. For this reason alone, I love my Quest 3. Edge to edge clarity from the Quest 3 optics, even the Pico 4's pancake lenses aren't as good as these, the Pico 4 has a decent sweet spot but blurs when looking at the outer edges of the display. I also have a Reverb G2v2, the G2 might be just a hair clearer due to it's Display Port connection, but when using the Quest 3 and upping the resolution and bitrate (PCVR), it's visuals are very close to that of the Reverb G2v2 just with much better lenses that let you look around while racing in a racing sim or even flying in MSFS2020.

This is the only one youtube channel that talks about the very bad binocular overlap of the quest3, i wish i had known that before buying it. I am kinda used to it, but honestly, it ruins the visuals, the fov, and i know that i will be a relieve once switching to another headset with better overlap.

Quest 3 is great, not as standard but with the Bobo S3 pro and the AMVR facial interface. When you get these two upgrades, everything is.. almost perfect, still the FOV sucks a little bit, just a bit 😅
@sharonb.91287 ай бұрын
Great video. AVP is better than the Quest hardware, software and user experience. The quest isn’t even close in any important technology. The ONLY thing the Quest DOMINATES the AVP is with their gaming library.
@Rlmfx7 ай бұрын
Binocular overlap is a very important part of immersion manufacturers don't seem to get. The bad overlap of the Q3 is one of the reasons I sent it back. Looking into distance is ok, but as soon as you're eyes cross slightly to view something closer, or to look to one side, it was jarring and kept distracting me, and reminding me of the headset (because you literally keep seeing the inside of the headset instead of the picture) Disappointing that the Quest 3 lite doesn't have a higher res, as I was hoping to mod it with aspherics for better stereo overlap
