poiuyt yes but in for example HGSS on the route after Violet City, there are wild Mareeps, which have a LONG ASS ANIMATION. I had to suffer seeing those animations just to find a male Mareep

I don't know if I fully agree. I think it's case by case. I can't in good conscience say that Ratata and Wartortle look better in gen 3. I think Mewtwo and Mew look slicker and better designed in gen 4, too. But I much prefer Lombre and Seedot's gen 3 sprites... Definitely case by case for me.

I feel like the gen 3 animations (Emerald) are a lot more powerful giving the player the "sense of being alive" of the pokemons, by simply stretching or bouncing. idk maybe it's just my gba nostalgia

The gen 3 ones were much more extra and had more personality. The gen 4 ones mostly just move around slightly and stretch a bit.

I don't know how you thought this worked but the way they make the sprite animation is by drawing two frames and flipping between them while squashing and stretching them. that's just how it works for all of them.

A lot of the animations in Emerald are better than in Diamond and Pearl, but the sprite quality and colors are so much better on Diamond and Pearl that it makes up for some of the bad animations imo.

3rd and 4th generation sprites were SO LAZY, the pokemon only had 2 sprites changing for each other, Crystal's sprites were better made and it's an older generation, the sprites were so lazy until black and white, black and white's sprites animation were superb
