Very informative. The output tab for my Cue Headphone mix is what had me perplexed. Having a song with over 40 tracks, I didn't see that there was a "'pull tab" to the left of the Master/Main channel that needed to be grabbed and moved left in order for me to see the Cue output mix channels. I spent quite a long time looking for it, until I played back that section of this video a few times until it made sense.

Thanks Gregor. With every update I always hope that it becomes possible to adjust the horizontal width of the channels (like you can vertically in the main project window). The current narrow/normal toggle is not much help when adjusting the console to exactly fit the monitor size.

is there a option to pre define input gain for all channels. Like when you create a new audio/instrument track it automatically sets the input gain to say like -6db. (will be helpful for headroom).

This is a feature request at the moment. It got more than 40 votes. I asked Presonus to implement that as a shortcut, so that you can build macros with that (for example, create audio track + input gain -6). I believe it's pretty easy to add a shortcut for that but they are taking some time apparently. Feel free to vote the feature request here: answers.presonus.com/62326/hey-presonus-you-need-to-improve-your-shortcuts?show=62326#q62326

Great video as usual, thanks! My only wish would be to have a feature to "pin" certain console channels/buses visible at all times. While I love and use the "Link Console and Tracklist visibility" and I use it for my console on a secondary screen, on large sessions there's a lot of navigating back and forth to find the bus channels (with shift+scroll speed being relatively slow). Otherwise, I'm a happy camper!

Have you tried using scenes at all? I find those very helpful with large projects. Especially when there's a lot of bussing or VCA-Usage, setting scenes where you can mix with only those really helps not getting lost in every detail. Takes some getting used to, but it's a good habit to have.
@oyaarss
@oyaarss 3 жыл бұрын
@@BNLNRD Thanks, yes - scenes can be helpful at times, but they take time to set up or adjusted, even when included in a template, also my inner paranoid intuition doesn't sit well with the concept of "recalling" mixes (even though it's visibility only), not sure what impact it has on 3rd party plugins (I like to change scenes A LOT and often swiftly). Haven't had any problems so far, I generally trust S1, but I'm still nervous about it. Regardless of scenes though, pinning channels as always visible would be a great addition.

I 'know' this tutorial is about the mixer views and layout, but I'm trying to figure how to move the track list all the way to the left, so there could be more of the arrangement view. As an example, we can fully hide the browser, which in turn, gives more of the arrangement view on the right side. Thanks in advance! :-)

Hi Gregor, i have a doubt.. I will choose only buses to appear on the mixer window from the channel list. I unliked the show/ hide track feature. So i can keep working on my tracks in the Timeline and i can see only my buses in the mixer.. But, when i start inserting a plugin on a track or i did some edit on a track.. it appears on the mixer. I get how smart that feature is.. But can i disable that feature??

Wow, one of the most flexible mixers out there. I'm strongly considering switching to Studio One and the possibilities with the mixer (graphical options also) is one of the main reason. I'm used to seeing the whole chanell strip (from gain on the top all the way to the custom notes to the bottom) similar to the real life signal flow and that's an important thing when it comes both to organizing and just feeling where the signal goes without it being visually scattered throughout the software. I just have one question, are the number of audio/midi chanells limited on the Artist version?

I am kinda new to Studio 1 coming from using Reason for +20 years. I see that you have a dim function if you're using a Presonus interface - is there a dim function still if you're not using something from Presonus? Like a DIM -20 dB button? It's very handy checking mixes super low ...fast. Thanks!

A couple of things I'd love to see: With channel notes, on a right click, can we Center the type and increase the size of the font and make the type bold or italic. Also can we display only the input channel that's is being used. If I am using input 6, i don't need to see channels 1-5. Just a few wish list items. Cheers!

I like S1. But there are things that always had me scratching my head about the UI in general most of which revolve around the mixer. Just a few things here: Single-click to get a thumbnail and DOUBLE-click to open the plugin? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? How many pro-level engineers prefer to make tweaks on a thumbnail? Classic novelty-over-function there. We have clear indicators in the mixer that a plug-in is bypassed, powered on/off, and enabled/disabled, but NO indicator that a plug-in editor is open? This is a BIG miss for engineers who handle large sessions with many plugins. No option for dual pan on stereo tracks/busses. This would help ALOT with disguising track types. And a few small but relevant things like: Channel name fields in full-blown color causing the font to invert = Rookie move. This is not the case in the arrange view. Why didn’t we follow that same design philosophy in the mixer? Solo-safe currently looks like every other solo button in active state (Same lit-up green). This is counter-intuitive. They should be easily distinguished. And why is it necessary to have every other channel show active mute state when 1 channel is soloed? Cubase and Logic did this too and I always found it very distracting. If I mute one channel do the rest of the channels solo? Selected channels are simply a lighter shade of what’s already there. This becomes especially cumbersome when the option to color mixer channels is turned on. Selected channels should be more easily distinguished.

I need to say something left of field - It is really annoying that there is no wet/dry knob (other than that painful work-around using the splitter, which u can't even automate) in Studio One. This function has been available in FL studio for 10 years. I'm currently trying to use a plugin, which doesn't have a wet/dry knob, but I cant automate the wet/dry signal. Presonus seems to be about innovation and great ideas and yet is unable to execute the implementation of a simple knob...and why do you keep ignoring the requests for it like it's not an important function to have? And you shouldn't be asking whether it's an important function to have via a voting scheme. It shouldn't even be a discussion. It makes me question the professionalism of this software and company. I have spent the last hour trying to sort this issue with no resolve, and I continually ignore programs without a wet/dry knob. (Just found a solution - Use BC patchwork and automate the mix knob in that - how silly that I have refer to an external source to do that).
